2 pages on the post match thread sums it up…no one cares any more this season
Sorry, but I care, I take each game as a one off, which I do care about winning, the season is done now, but a season is 46 games, so whilst playoffs and relegation (hopefully) are non entities, I care about Charlton Athletic, just wish they cared half as much...
I think we all know what ct_addick is getting at. I can honestly say when Derby scored the pen I felt absolutely nothing. Feel for the fans that went up and hope they had a good day out. As that is all it is now til the end of the season days out. But we go again next season and I'm sure come Feb without investment we will be in the same situation.
Sure I know what ct-addick was getting at, just that I don't agree that's all, ok.🤷♂️ And you think that 1500+ fans went up to Derby "for a day out"..really, so they are happy and boo the players at the end of the game, because they don't care.. Agree about next season, and the ownership thing, and hopefully next season will be better...
We never gave up but were outplayed and outskilled by a better team on the day .. as all too often, little punch in attack, little midfield creativity despite a lot of possession .. we still gave it a go, but as said, simply outplayed .. Hector was decent at bringing the ball out of defence, Fraser was good in the middle, as we all know though, we lack class right across the squad .. money needs to be spent in the close season, BUT where will it be coming from ?
Clare was repeatedly beaten and let them cross every time.....he is not a defender. Dobson is not Pirlo...his passing was awful today....he is limited in what he can do but gives 100% every game. Fraser is class at times but wants too long on the ball. CBT shite and so was Rak-Saki. Aneke with the worst shooting display I have ever seen. Morgan being Morgan and Payne couldn't beat the first defender with his crosses. A pretty all round shite performance.
Agree with all of this, and I’d add that Sess just let them cross the ball for their first, and CBT had one of those shocking games he has sometimes where he looks like a park player.
Fraser is on a poor run of form and kept falling over.

Shite performance, but what a fantastic turnout by the fans. 1600 for a mid table team 164 miles from home (the sign said outside the bogs) 🙌, if only Derby hadn't scored so early it took the stuffing out of everyone . Any new owner must look at the potential this club has and should be falling over themselves to take over the reigns. Sandgaard should be ashamed. As for the game, all I can say is it ticked another ground for me 😔

I don’t disagree but away days, the football is the worst part. As a dad who works 7-7 5 days a week, the social side of Charlton far outweighs the football.

Thought FGR was a non event but.... Couldn't tell you if Derby are any good or not as they were not asked to play much today. 2nd was a decent ball in, well met. Our set piece delivery was shite. Luckily lots of old and familiar faces to have a beer with. Cheers to the Alexandra, shall look forward to going there next year when Derby stay down. Also the fat Tango twat deserved a slap.

Again absolutely, but with the situation were in, I'm looking forward to going to Peterborough and have a few drinks with my mates, I honestly don't care about the result, just want to have a good evening with Mates I haven't seen in a while.
Of course it would be different if we were fighting promotion or relegation, but we're not.

You would have to be pissed to enjoy what we serve up most of the time
Someone tell me Albie Morgan has a contract where he is guaranteed a start every 3 or 4 games. It must be the case, I just can’t for life of me see how so many managers keep giving him starts.
Their second summed up the difference. We won a free kick in a reasonable position where we could swing a ball over. Instead Fraser (I think) plays a short ball across the pitch, we lose the ball, Derby break, pick up a foul,.swing the ball.over and head home.
When playing poorly (as we did), you have to at least get the ball in the box from set pieces to give yourself a chance.
Don’t think you can say there a massive difference between the two sides .. I think it’s pretty clear we can’t and don’t have the players to play 433 ..we just don’t have the quality on the flanks to create the chances .. most of Derbys best moments come from us losing the ball time and time again ….midfield totally out outplayed today there also seem to be 3 derby players to one of ours , Holden should have changed it at ht . Again I ask the question what did we create ? one chance by Bonne for Raki ?? Not good enough from the wide areas and central mid .
Now we seen Hector think we can go 3 at the back pushing Clare up as wing back .. make us stronger in midfield . CBT and Raki would not play them next week try something different .
Bonne done well today did not deserve to come off .. MOM Clare he was excellent again
If there was any doubt you are a wum then this dispels it completely - Bonne was a pile of shit and had the cheek to lambast others when the level of effort and skill he displayed was an embarrassment to the profession.
On your first point, there was a gulf between the two sides and apart from perhaps Dobbo (again) and the centre backs the performance was little better than abject.
Someone tell me Albie Morgan has a contract where he is guaranteed a start every 3 or 4 games. It must be the case, I just can’t for life of me see how so many managers keep giving him starts.
Another one who starts regularly for us and yet if he were to leave, would likely struggle to find a club in this league
A good day out, with beers pre-match in the Alexandra and post-match in the Derby Brewing Tap House.
Unfortunately, they sandwiched yet another thoroughly inept and pretty abysmal performance from the team, who were outclassed from start to finish by a Derby side who won at a canter. We were largely unable to put more than three or four passes together, save along the back line, were sloppy in possession and - with the honourable exception of Dobbo - I don’t think we won a 50/50 challenge all afternoon. I know and accept that Derby have better players but we should at least be able to compete with them.
In contrast, Derby were solid at the back, robust in the tackle, moved the ball well and had quality where it mattered in the final third.
Fraser had his worst game in a Charlton shirt, Bonne, Blackett-Taylor and Morgan were very poor and, whilst Hector deserves to be cut some slack in his first start since November 2021, some of his poor passes out from the back put us in real trouble and could have led to further Derby goals. The only Charlton player to emerge with any real credit was Dobson, although Ness and Clare did ok.
There was a marked and slightly baffling reluctance to cross the ball into the box throughout the game (presumably a confidence issue), an inability to control the ball all over the field, a lack of movement and a sloppiness which constantly put us under pressure.
With three difficult fixtures coming up, the importance of the three points against Forest Green Rovers last Tuesday should not be underestimated. Let’s hope that Miles Leaburn is fit to play some part next Saturday, failing which, I fear the Sheffield Wednesday defenders may be in for just as comfortable afternoon as their Derby counterparts this afternoon.
Pretty certain the acceptance we all have about us ending up mid table is fully shared by a number of players. Playoffs was reaching lottery-level odds of happening and a number of them are not giving everything for the shirt. There's also general lack of quality across the board, but the inconsistency from so many of them is horrific. I just think a number of them just can't keep focused on giving their all when they probably all have agents in their ears planning what they are doing next season.
Derby definitely looked complacent with their 1-0 lead and, like they said on the desk, they were coasting against our blunt attack. Only Rak-Sakyi looks like he can conjure something up, and he can't do it consistently and alone. CB-T was showing his worst qualities again. Fraser (who goes absent REGULARLY) doesn't put himself about at all and is a luxury we regularly can't afford. Bonne lacks the pace, movement and intelligence to ever make him a threat. There's just a huge lack of class in the final third, while we continue to leak basic goals to crosses and mistakes at the back. No idea what has happened with Leaburn, but he is only only striker that can carry a threat.
With proper backing to bring his own players, Holden would bring us success, but the off field antics need to be sorted. I don't want TS to sell to any A.N. Other chancer/leech, but staying like this is soul-destroying. We're condemned to mediocrity or worse until we get someone who will invest properly and accept the losses required to push forward on the pitch. We are hard stuck in the middle of the pack in L1 until something changes in the boardroom.
So utterly depressing to be in the same situation as last year. The remainder of the season become dead rubber games that mean nothing to us. Nothing to get excited about. Everything is wholly uncertain about any/all of the players staying and nothing is clear about whether our manager will even be here. I would give so much to see us have our own equivalent of Derby's David Clowes - a genuine, lifelong supporter who can bring some level of stability.
Really looking forward to getting schooled by Chef Wendy on Saturday.

He must be amazing in training, it’s the only possible explanation.
You know what (and I apologise to the wonderful fans who went... albeit Derby is a good night out) but I didn't bother looking for the score till 5pm. We are that tepid and uninteresting.

Then you need to temper your expectations. We are shit, but I’ll always support us. So having a good day with pals goes a small way to offset the dog doo we have to watch.

Just after JRS had the shot blocked by the keeper Albie latched to a loose ball, but rather than cross it he fell over, and the ball dribbled over the line for a goal kick.
My son had more excitement telling me about his chicken zinger burger than talking about the football up there . Poor Cnut is going to these away games Steve Austin sober , fuck that
full respect to the 1500+ who went up there , our numbers have crazily improved even though it’s the worst we’ve ever been. Doubt we took these numbers whilst in the championship up there , maybe even in the Prem love it …
