It’s a statement because we keep getting told that we will not sign anyone , we don’t have any budget yawn yawn .. this proves them completely wrong .. we have a out paid one of the so called bigger league one clubs .. free transfer no such thing by the time you had signing in fee , agent fee and agreed wages over a period of time 2/3 years .. that Barnsley could not match .
As much as it sounds like Isted is a shrewd bit of business, a keeper leaving on a fee, to be replaced by one on a free, does not smack of a statement to me. It feels very much in line with what someone who was being tight/clever with the budget would be doing, or at the most just quiet a normal football transfer for our level.
The cheap option would be to just use AMB, not bother signing a new keeper and leave that to the new owners.
Last season we signed players mostly from league 2 or lower league 1. This signing has just lost the play off final and we’ve pinched him off that promotion rival. To me this shows we are in for a much better summer than last year, though that is quite a low bar

of course we have a budget and no-one has said we won't sign anyone but don't make it out to be something it isn't, it certainly isn't a statement of intent.

Well I’ve known since his conception. I was in the room when the parents were on the job. After my pot noodle and wank, I remarked to his Dad that those 30 seconds have created a Charlton Goalkeeper.
If you remember correctly I predicted stuff would start happening in terms of ins and outs around June/July. Does this website offer ITK icons on usernames? Breaking news - I've heard we're looking at another goalkeeper. Possibly one that played in League 1 last season for a top 6 side. Can't provide names at the moment as I haven't had clearance.
Isted signing on a free and JoJo going for a fee is great bit of business.. Upgrade on our current keepers. Reminds me of Ben Hamer type of signing, and he did pretty well for us.
I’ve known Harry since our days at Grange Hill. We became friendly after Tucker Jenkins introduced us. Harry then went on to star in Eastenders, Casualty, The Bill and, more recently was a bombshell on Love Island. I, unfortunately, was not so lucky, ending up with a bit-part on Hollyoaks.
Harry can’t catch a ball for toffee but is a fine actor.

Any extra we've paid has probabky just come out of the money we got for Woolacott. Net sum zero.
Also, as I said earlier, it's not all to do with money. Where would you rather live.....Barnsley or London.

Some of the villages around Barnsley are wonderful.
There's not a lot on Isted's track record other than that couple of months at Barnsley. Pretty much just brief non-league loans. Does seem to underline that we're looking at a summer of self-financing transfers though.
