  • The difficulty with taking championship players on their way down, is how motivated will they be dropping a division and £500K pa in wages?

That’s where finding the right characters is so important.

    On loan at Port Vale.

Or as we end up with the ones with no other options.

Ben Watson of course springs to mind as exactly the type that we don't want.
  • Regan Poole defender not taking an offer of new contract with Lincoln.
Good pedigree. Started at Newport then Man. United, Northampton, MKD and scored against us while at Lincoln.
    Long shot.
  • Is anybody else worried that the delay in releasing the names of those released is because Holden has been told he must keep players whom he would like to release?

No. Could be all sorts of reasons. The season only finished on Sunday and Monday was a bank holiday.

    Other way around :'(

Only 16 EFL teams have released theirs yet so we aren’t exactly behind. Probably just trying to sign up the players we are trying to keep

No because the players were told on Friday ..

  • Aden Flint released by Stole too.  Always impressed by him and at 33 might be a wise older head we could do with.
Finished the season at Sheff Wed so still capable at this level

"It is well documented that we are looking to execute a significant reset within our squad ahead of the new season," said technical director Ricky Martin.

Blimey, that's a change of career
    Livin La Vida Stoke-a
    This deserves a promote

Wages will be way to heavy for us.

I assume that the list will be announced, listing those who have been released, those who have signed new deals (if anyone), and those who have been offered new deals but haven't signed them yet.

e.g. a year ago, the statement said

Jason Pearce has been offered a contract coaching in the club’s academy, while the club are in ongoing negotiations with the representatives of Ben Purrington about a potential new playing contract.

I think Claus Jensen is the exception to rule on players that were very good when they played against that were then consistently brilliant when playing for us.
    True
I remember Jaiyesimi playing a blinder against us, and never did it after we signed him. I'm sure there have been many others, even recently. Elliott Lee maybe? The fella from Sunderland, McGeady?

    From Blackburn. So potentially available?

He would be a very decent signing, can play right back and centre back, tad on the small side but reminds me of Lockyer a bit where his size doesn't seem to hinder him too much. Exactly the kind of freebies we should be looking to scoop up.

Unfortunately, will also probably end up at Wrexham 😂
  • Didn't Edwards fail a medical in January supposedly but ended up at Ross County?
  • Since there’s no rumours to go off yet, here’s an early wishlist for certain positions…

Left back: Callum Elder, Tayo Edun, Ethan Bristow

Right back: Shaun Rooney, Josh Key

Centre back: Lewis Gibson, Sam Hughes

Centre mid: Jensen Weir, Owen Moxon

    Wingers: Ruben Rodrigues, Gavin Whyte

Strikers: Alfie May, Mo Eisa, Macauley Langstaff

Expect none of them to turn up at Sparrows Lane this summer. :-)
Apart from the strikers - haven’t heard of any of these.

So out of touch with football these days.

Like a lot of these options Callum , someone like Moxon could jump straight from L2 to the championship though , Josh Key would be a very good move but I would guess there would be champ interest.

Jensen Weir would be a good move and we would probably be a logical next step for him from Cambridge and Morecambe.
