Charlton have offered new contracts to Michael Hector, Aaron Henry and Terell Thomas.

Macauley Bonne, Sean Clare, Alex Gilbey, Nathan Harness, Ryan Inniss and Albie Morgan will all leave the club following the expiration of their contracts this summer.

The following men’s first-team players are under contract: Chuks Aneke, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Tyreece Campbell, George Dobson, Mandela Egbo, Scott Fraser, Daniel Kanu, Miles Leaburn, Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Zach Mitchell, Lucas Ness, Jack Payne, Joe Wollacott.

The following players are out of contract and remain in discussions with the club regarding their futures: Michael Hector, Aaron Henry, Terell Thomas.

The following players are set to return to the club following loan spells during the 2022/23 season: Richard Chin, Deji Elerewe, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Charlie Kirk, Sam Lavelle, Conor McGrandles.

The following players will leave the club following the expiration of their contracts: Macauley Bonne, Sean Clare, Alex Gilbey, Nathan Harness, Ryan Inniss, Albie Morgan.

The following players will leave the club following the expiration of their loan deals: Todd Kane, Gavin Kilkenny, Matt Penney, Jes Rak-Sakyi, Steven Sessegnon.

    Is how I see it, with Hector being one of the CB's if he signs, Thomas becoming the new Clare utility player as backup left back, and Henry replacing Morgan as the youngster midfielder in the squad, leaving us to sign a minimum of 6 players to have a squad, however I'd want to sign another 3 and send Kanu, Henry and Mitchell out on loans

    Clare I tend to agree, but not that gutted, and it may have been his choice if he wants to play in midfield.

    Morgan I think if it's him or McGrandles I'd be more inclined to go with McGrandles and see if Cambridge fans are right.

    Interesting it's a big clearout, could definitely go either way depending on the quality of any replacements.

    I haven't included any of the loanees coming back as I believe they'll all be moved on again one way or another

    I must confess to being a little surprised at Sean Clare leaving, as he seemed to tick the box as able to step in and cover several positions/formation changes. Seemed to be the ideal 'Curbs-type' utility player.

    And Terell Thomas staying, despite his late run of games of decent form. 

    Maybe it was a choice between Clare and Thomas ..... with Thomas seeming more specialist/better match concentration?

    I do hope part of Dean's masterplan is to to award Megarider bus tickets to Jaiyesimi,  Kirk, Lavelle and McGrandles? Surely.

    Given how many poor signings we've made I hope somebody sorts out the recruitment. So many players have underperformed or were poorly scouted. Kirk, Jaiyesimi, Payne, Gilbey etc the list is endless...

    I think you can look at this in a couple of ways. Yes, well pleased with the clear out of players who aren't good enough. Morgan, Innis, Clare etc. But we’re still going into the new season on operation break even. Those positions are going to be taken up by some of the emerging talent. In other words, cheaper options. Personally, I can’t see us spending any money unless the takeover goes through and as it stands Sandgaard is dragging his heels. The future doesn’t look bright

    I see as a good thing. If it was cheaper options then innis would of been kept over hector

    Very different to what I heard but positive as it suggests we want to do a proper rebuild.

    Of the three offered a contract only Hector could expect to be a regular.

    Thomas has worked his way back into the squad but would likely be a squad player, assuming TS/new owners don't insist on Mitchell, Ness and Elerewe being next in line. Three senior CBs backed up by those three should be the minimum.

    Given Henry's lack of game time he's seen as a prospect and I think we'll be aiming to send him on loan - ideally L2, if not back to the NL.

    I didn't put together an updated squad list in January but will look to do so now this is out.

    It's early days yet ..... Holden has made a judgment call not only on ability, but character and mental strength too I would imagine.

    Managers try to make a team in their own image. He'll be looking for players with the right temperament, drive and fitness.
