Have England just been unlucky with the weather for these warm up games, or are they playing in the wrong parts of India?
Friday's game between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the same ground was a full one whereas Afghanistan v South Africa elsewhere on the same day was abandoned without a ball being delivered so I suppose it's been a bit pot luck
51-2. Malan out for 2 (4) and Bairstow for 34 (21)
I don't believe that Stokes took the field and it is interesting that Brook has come in at 4 because, although I understand the need to give as many as possible a bat, I would have thought that Stokes would have come in next if that's the intention on Thursday.
100-3 off quite an eventful 10 overs. Buttler has been dropped twice but is on 25 off 11 and Root, who came in with the score on 9-1 has made just 5 of the 91 runs that have been scored while he has been at the crease. He also had the misfortune of being hit in the unmentionables!
Third time lucky for Bangladesh as Buttler is caught on the boundary for 30 (15). Root is 7* (12). Livingstone is in so either Stokes doesn't want a warm up innings or he is injured/unwell
Rather average hack from Livingstone and he's caught for 7 (11). Root continues to play the anchor role for 7* (16) and while he is at one end of the spectrum, it is clear that the rest of the batting is in for a good time rather than a long time!
Stokes is out as feared by his absence in the warm up game. He injured himself in the gym! NZ are missing, through injury too, both Williamson, Southee and Ferguson
The irony of Stokes' injury is that had we picked Roy instead of Brook we would have had to re-jig the batting line up - Roy would have to open and I'm not sure having a 3/4 of Malan/Root would have been as effective given that they are both accumulators. As it is, Brook gets to bat in his optimum batting position.
That is poor from Bairstow. If a player is seeing it like a football as he was on what is a decent pitch, there's no excuse for him picking out a fielder with a check drive such as that.

You really think that with the balance of the top 5 2 of them have got to bat a long time, there is a lot of power hitting lower down but you don't really want any of them batting inside the first 30 overs too often.
I was just typing "Brook enjoying Ravindra's buffet type "help yourself" bowling". Then he does that. Two players now who have got themselves out when in.
