Still sinking in a bit, think I must have known Dave for going on 40 years. Was always a well known face, Charlton through and through, certainly had some experiences following us over the years. Would often enjoy a pint with him on a Thursday in The Oak and was wonderfully supportive during a few bad times. Brilliant company, loving husband and father, so many facets to a true Charlton legend - word is bandied about too often - but Dave is. Making his home the CARD warehouse just the tip of the iceberg, it's always the good uns that get taken. RIP mate, absolute privilege.32

RIP Dave, I never had the pleasure of being in your company, but the love shown by those who knew you speaks volumes about the man you were.1

Genuinely really saddened by this news. Never knew or met Dave but always enjoyed reading his posts and to read through the stories on here all saying how much he was loved, respected and gave to others shows the measure of the man. Rest in peace, Dave.2

Recognise the face but didn’t know him.
The messages above speak absolute volumes about the man, who appeared to leave an almighty impression where ever and on whoever he met.
One of those people who you wish had been part of your own life.

I’m sure I must have known him to see going by what others are saying ,if considered appropriate would it be possible to see a picture of him.

He was one of Charltons best, and his loss will take some time to process. I will miss our Thameside walks mudlarking and moaning about Charlton and The Valley won't be quite the same without him.2 -

Unfortunately I never had the privilege of meeting Dave, but truly felt like I had regularly reading and thoroughly enjoying his absolutely superb Drinking During the Game blog. Sorely missed. God Bless. RIP. And sincere Condolences to his Family and Friends on their loss.1

I met him on the trips and never realised he did Drinking during the game as well. RIP big man. Judging from the tributes a well loved man.
Condolences to all who were touched by his life.2 -
This is Dave’s wife. I just need to say how overwhelmed we are by all the lovely comments about him. I met him 23 years ago at the gym that used to be at The Valley, I had a season ticket in the North stand at the time and prior to that I was a steward there. He had bowel cancer for 5 years but still lived life to the absolute fullest when he was well enough. He never complained or said ‘why me’. He was a great husband, father and friend to everyone. We’re devastated and feeling lost without him 💔165
