Also, a thought about Tyreece Campbell: Yes, he had a bad game and was dominated by his markers. But I noticed, towards the end of the first half, the camera stayed on him for a bit and the way he was walking around reminded me of the teenagers I teach when they’re pissed off that they haven’t got their way. Huffing and puffing and stomping around pouting and sulking. He was frustrated, but he had no solution.
I think there’s potentially a very good player in there, but he needs help with his mentality. He needs time to mature, but I reckon he could use some help in a sports psychology sense. Learning how to cope with difficult games is essential and he needs to build resilience in this department.
The bad: worst first half I can remember. Hideously set up and pathetic showing from the players. We wasted plenty of chances 2nd half. Defensively again we were so easy to cut open.
The good: New lads bar the City boy all gave a good account of themselves. Louis Watson was great (why tf hasn't he been starting).
Much better second half but Peterborough were pretty sloppy after retaking the lead. Current form is absolutely unacceptable as another week without a win goes by.
A decent response to an insipid 1st half showing (thanks Appleton) but even at 1-1 I was never confident of getting a point. We couldn't handle Mason-Clark all game. A positive is that Bakinson and Coventry looked good and May back eith a goal. Hopefully Gillesphey can help shore up our appalling defensive record.
I feel like me giving Edun 9 for that in player marks might seem a bit silly, but for me he showed he wanted to run and work for us more than most have shown. Epitomised a spirit that can be built upon.

The new midfielders looked good too
9 for Edun is absolutely fucking mental
No I agree, it is, so I've come here to sort of explain myself. I just saw a man who wanted to be everywhere and frequently was. More with that attitude and we can do things, go places
Feel like this end to the season is very much the same as Powells first ‘season’.
sign a few players to run the eye over, but plan for a big clear out In summer- finish as high as you can knowing promotion is totally off the cards
isted back in goal please, back 3 worked well but Thomas for MG, Campbell x2 to be either sent back or out on loan, May & another ST work well, Coventry to start next game

That’s what I was saying in the first half. It wasn’t just that he was playing badly, he wasn’t even trying. Definitely something going on there
Just seen the second goal and complete lack of intelligence and effort from T.Watson. Awful.
You've got that very wrong, he should never have been the nearest to challenge. Had absolutely no cover, it was pathetic.
Must have imagined him casually jogging
“Casually” lol. You expect him to sprint after he’s just busted a gut running 50 yds forward then 50 yards back 75 minutes into a game? You’re a joker.
I’m encouraged. First half wasn’t great, although I didn’t think it was quite as bad as some have made out. Second half the energy levels we had in midfield made a big difference. That and May having a partner. It all allowed us to press better higher up the pitch and show we could unsettle and force errors even against one of the top sides in the division.
Encouraged to see Appleton using some different formations and making some earlier subs.
Decent debut from Bakinson, looked a decent all round midfield who can get around the pitch well.
Could see why comparisons have been drawn between Coventry and Cullen. Thought he looked very promising.
But early to tell on Fiorini.
Another defeat, but it felt a lot less hopeless than more recent ones. Hopefully another striker, a right wing back, and maybe a wide player (if CBT leaves) to come this month (just I’d like, no inside knowledge) and things will look better and we can start to build for next season.
Edun did better offensively than usual in the 2nd half. But we need to change our full backs. I have been saying for a while, they are too soft and generally don't give us enough defensively or offensively. The rest was promising I thought.
He improved in the second half, but doesn't contribute enough for an attacking full back.
Indeed we seem to have full/wing backs who get a nosebleed in the opposition half, whose first thought is to stop, and then pass backwards, rather than continuing down the wing and getting a cross in.
If we don't get a result next weekend at Burton then I think the pressure will mount on the Board to get rid of MA.
6 points off relegation is a bit close for comfort and we still need around 5 wins to be safe. Looking at the last 11 games I'm saying it doesn't look promising.
We need fit players to come straight into the squad and we haven't done that.
Saying Thomas, Mcambles and Camera coming back will make a difference could be too late. Apples simply can't figure out how to win a game.
My worry is we really need to get 7 points out the next 3 games as February looks tough with Derby home and away plus Pompey and Bolton.
How long do they give Apples before it's too late to make a difference?
If people think we can't get relegated then you haven't been watching them long enough.
Zero shots first half. Our only achievement was ten clearances apparently. But I really liked the look of Bakinson. Tyreece I felt sorry for. Desperately needs a L2 loan.
Second half was so different, without the Campbells, and we pressed them, stopped them playing, and equalised through who else but Alfie. Their goal was a breakaway masterpiece, but other than that we could have scored two or three.
Oddly, Terrel Thomas had a good game, and Ness did ok too. Kanu also did well. Coventry showed glimpses of class.
So I’m far less down than I’d normally be after a 2-1 home defeat. Sick of losing, but green shoots and all that.
We missed Fraser’s guile in the last 10 when we were chasing the equaliser
You joke, but L Watson did stuff up several openings! He did get in position to stuff them up, on the other hand
Agree. Had a bright start but was poor in possession today
I don’t see how we can continue with Appleton. That first half was probably the worst I’ve ever seen us. We were simply appalling, offering absolutely nothing.
Yes, changes were made and we competed a bit better in the second half, but we didn’t deserve anything. A point would’ve flattered Appleton and got him out of jail.

He was better in the second half but you could see in the first half, offensively he always takes the easy option and is a bit weak. This for me was a six out of ten game for him. Maybe a 6.5, but usually it is a 4. He isn't good enough and he needs to improve in all areas, which is possible, before we will be going places because of him. I think he is too soft as is T Watson.
We are already in a relegation fight. Cheltenham 7 points behind us but they have 10 from last 15 - we have 1 from 15. Cannot understand why more not calling for change of manager. It will soon be too late.

firioni
may back
new centre back
more signings on the way (apparently)
we were better today because Anderson didn't get on the pitch. We will be better next week when t campbell doesn't get on the pitch
I never said he deserves time. I'm anti apple
regardless of the managers lack of competence, we have some good players and will not get sucked into a relegation battle

1st half was just awful

not bloody hard is it
Do not give a toss now. I'll be back coz it's catnip, but you are all heroes for keeping the flame alive!
We lost that game in the first half. Again down to the poor excuse we have for a manager.

4 or 5 at the back, it doesn't matter, we need an upgrade on Watson and Edun if we're to mount a serious challenge next season
We will simply not go forward as a club until we remove Appleton

We cannot continue to play games giving teams a 2 goal head start tho, cos that’s basically what we are doing at the moment.
