Tyreece has been terrible for a while now, desperately  needing time out of the spotlight. Indeed I've felt sorry for him at times.

It does beg the question why we left ourselves so thin in wide areas in the summer, moving DJ on with the hapless Kirk the only other option.
I think Tyreece is a lot better off the bench, running against tired legs. Either way though, he’s another kid that we’re relying on too much because the squad is both poor and unbalanced.
  • I need to go to Specsavers.
I hear we played 3-4-3 but, from where I was sitting, in the first half when we reset all I could see was 4-3-2-1. There were definitely 4 across the back line and Alfie May was yards ahead of the other 2 supporting him.
Not that formations particularly interest me. It's just that I would like to know I'm not losing it in my advancing years.

I think the idea was that it was supposed to be 3-4-3 when we were in possession, switching to a 4-3-3 when they had the ball.

Ladapo would suit us more abyway IMO.
  • It seems to me that, whenever we play well, worry the opposition and get the crowd excited, it's because we up our game, get tackles in, press the opposition and attack quickly.
So it puzzles and frustrates me endlessly that we start games like we did today in the first half being second to everything and building attacks at a snail's pace.

Part of the reason is we lack confidence and play the simple ball. Whether he has a good game or not, Dobbo always looks for a positive ball. So does Hector. Edun and Watson generally look backwards by instinct. Strangely, Edun was actually positive for most of the second half. I haven't seen much of that but I still think he is a bit too soft.

How much would Mark Harris at Oxford cost? I'd prefer Humphrys over JCH who I feel is just looking out for one last big payday and if that were offered by Torquay he'd be off.

Don't really know where to start, bloody awful first half crying out for changes but Apples looked like he was glued to the spot, what an uninspiring coach he is. T Campbell looked lost and yet he remained on the pitch for 45 minutes. There were many others but he stood out above all the rest.

Second half looked much better, more pace and much more energy from Kanu and playing what looked like a 4312 to me. However once again we gift a goal after getting back in the game.

Good performances from the new boys but we are going to need a lot more if we are not going to slip into the relegation battle, particularly if we do lose CBT and or Dobson.

Next 2 games appear very important, particularly as we haven’t won for ages.

    Appleton out!

but I honestly think our present Squad including the new players in this week would flourish under a proper manager who knows what the fuck he is actually doing 🤣👌👌👌
It’s still really unbalanced. We may be at the start of building something but there’s a long way to go to being competitive at the top of the division regardless of who the manager is.

No points and a step closer to relegation. Apart from quite a lot of games, where we have been rubbish all game like at Leyton Orient, we have not had consistently good play all the time, with the one exception of Barnsley away.
Appleton seems to be able to make the sum of our parts less than the quality of the individuals we have.
I will say that Bakinson, Fliorini and Coventry all looked promising, and all looked better than Fraser.
  • Or every cloud has a silver lining ?
  • Shocking first half - not a single positive from it.

Their No 10 Mason-Clark ran rings around our defence.

At least we made a game of it. We will obviously miss CBT.
You keep your best players, particularly when you're in the brown stuff.

We’ll respectfully would not a good hungry manager with the backing of the owners get the right balance ???????

Getting crowds excited could be hard soon.  If we get down to 7k bums on seats closing parts of the ground may be on the horizon as a cost cutting measure.

Are you actually a Palace/Millwall fan or something because over the years I've noticed you mostly pop up when we're at our low points and only to wind people up more

  • Where is the flag button when you need it.

I’m not sure that manager has complete control over transfers at most clubs these days, certainly not at ours.

There are no savings to be had by closing parts of the ground. It would be a net cost because a percentage of ST holders would bail out altogether and the individual stand savings don’t really amount to much.

Reminds me of that time we spent ages chasing down Paul Benson ...... which turned out well.

Abysmal display all round. 2nd half doesn’t counteract the first half.
We’re closer to relegation than anything else.
We have 3 big games coming up,
    Burton away
Blackpool away (unless there in cup)
    Derby home.
Possibly looking at 1 point if we’re fortunate.

Won’t get anywhere under this manager. He hasn’t got a clue.

If they don’t change it we’re going to be struggling to stay it Shitty league 1.
  • Appleton should be shot for setting the team up like that in the first half. Absolutely terrible.
Subs at half time were right and I'm glad that he didn't wait until 70  minutes to make them. I liked Coventry and Bakinson. God knows where we would be without Alfie.

Tactics and team were useless first half. This was something Appleton said he put together because it could beat them, but it actually made P'boro better and us worse.

This guy is supposed to be a top coach!

Been here 26 games and I can't remember a single 90-minute performance. It's small spells here and there, just enough to get you believing there might be a chance.

At least some of the new players look alright. They've got their work cut out, that's for sure.

We’re 2 points better off after 26 games than that championship season where James Vennings became a regular starter due to a real injury crisis
