    Has he gone yet?
  • Bakinson looked useful, annoying that we couldn't have got him in, in time for Port Vale, as he added steel and energy to the midfield.

Coventry looked at home straight away. He passed it well, and not just backwards or sideways.

Indeed, when those 2 are fully fit, I'd have them ahead of Dobson.

We missed Fraser’s guile in the last 10 when we were chasing the equaliser
    Hoping this is a woosh!?
Nope... Its rather irritating having to put up with the Cabbles / Fraser luvfest these days
  • I must be in a minority, because I thought Edun had a poor game, lightweight and easily brushed off the ball.

Yeah. On today's evidence there are some difficult conversations to be had

First half was poor but I thought all Bakinson and Coventry showed why we signed them. Bakinson looks rusty but his ideas were better than most we've seen this season. Fiorini seemed ok but didn't have many chances to show his quality, the one time he did the ref blew for the tamest foul I've seen given all season. I know it's a loss but Peterborough are challenging this season and we matched their quality second half. Would be nice to see if for a whole match now

First half was shit, second half was good. Deserved a point.

No one can say Peterborough are genuinely good though. When you press them, they crumble. I'm okay with performance in the end but need a step up.

Little mention for Ness who's first half was poor but 2nd was good. Pleased for him.

I think he had an average game but it was good compared to what he usually produces. Lighweight and easily brushed off the ball is a great description of him generally.

    What's Appleton's full record here?

    Think we've won what 2?

Overall, I think there's foundation for a decent team when everyone's fit and we sign 2 or 3 more players, but I'd be seriously contemplating sending Campbell back and sending Tyreece out on loan after today, neither of them looked up to it at all, and in particular TC looked disinterested and downright lazy

Agreed, and he was lucky not to be hooked at HT, mind you so were others  but played much better 2nd half because he’s ok when we’re going forward much less so defensively.

But let’s continue to give MA time because he is the only manager in the entire EFL that has had a few injuries.
Said it last week and I’ll say it again, he’ll take us into a relegation scrap.
I don’t buy the bs about him not having the tools. He has enough good players but he plays them in the wrong formation and wrong positions and the level of effort has been lacking all season. No shortage of tools….

Loves hitting the first defender on his crosses as well. Frustrating as he gets in good positions and is always available for the switch

    Why not include all three?
  • We can go down. Lets get that straight now.

We can go down, and we will unless we turn things around pretty dramatically.

MA is a serious danger to this football club. If we dont take decisive action, this could be a total disaster unfolding between now and May.

    Coventry and Bakinson look ok.
    May is wasted at Charlton.

Dobson? A poor mans Josh Cullen (there I said it).

We need to make 3-4 top signings, get ride of MA, and keep CBT (£250k is worthless if we go down - rather not bank it and stay up thanks).

You know what ladies and gents, I enjoyed that performance.

Appleton got it all wrong first half, 343 was crap, both Campbells were pants. Peterborough could have gone 2 or 3 for half-time.

Second-half, completely different. We looked measured, Kanu and Watson were an immediate upgrade on the winger duo and we looked far better in the 352 for most parts.

Credit to Ness and Thomas, both haven't featured much, particularly Ness, but stepped up. Edun showed signs of life, I also think Tennai is unlucky for his pelters? Thought he was getting stuck in, just made an attacking run and couldn't track back. I'd blame the right sided centre back more for not supporting him, as a wing back is expected to be going forwards. I agree with Brown and Curbs that there should have been preparation for the counter.

Kanu looked very decent, May and him both making good runs.

New boys Bakinson and Coventry well looked the part. Was surprisingly impressed by Bakinson.

I'm still Appleton out but that was a high energy, end to end second half. A proper manager and some more signings and we can do the job next season imo.

I don't think it is being lazy. Physically he can be dominated and he hasn't discovered how to deal with it yet. He definitely needs a loan but remains a good prospect. He just isn't ready yet.

I think that’s harsh on TC. A loan might be good for him but he doesn’t look lazy to me. He does, however, look really low on confidence. Hard to rebuild that with the way team has generally been playing. Hopefully the new signings will breath some new life into the squad and we might see improvements in players like him and Edun who have had good and bad moments this season.

Chem has been a damp squib of a summer signing though (like most of them) and I’d agree he can probably go back, if we can get out of the deal.

£20 for the upbeats says he won't
I’ll match the £20 for every lifer who commits to this bet and gives £20 to the upbeats if we do end up in a relegation scrap.

Let’s define relegation scrap as say with 5 games left we are very much at risk of going down.

That was harsh deserved something from that , but have to say their 3 front men were the best we faced this season .. we started with 4321 and for 29 mins it was stalemate but then T Campbell just losses concentration and the bloke away , it was a good strike and goal but that one moment . .. the last 15 was difficult but second half we were excellent took a gamble went 4132 and lots of positives especially the new players … Coventry is years ahead better player then Dobson .. But we got caught in the break with their pace that always a risk but we had chances Kanu really should do better and May , but the effort and fight second half saw the team clapped off .. … but again that forward who can hold the  ball was what was missing and again diff between points and no points . ..

Coventry was excellent. Class above. Bakinson like a more cultured Pratley. Not sure about Fiorini but all three have shown Dobson, Fraser and L Watson that they are expendable which is good.   We missed CBT. Kanu provided some much needed support for May but he is raw. Hope never to see Campbell squared again. Thought jones had his worst game for us. Still don’t like the keeper.  But depression at half time has turned into a slight glimmer of optimism. Another couple of signings of the Coventry standard and next season could be better.  Just to be clear though we are 13th and six sides are within two points of us.  Not out of the woods yet.

I'd say naivety is his weakness. He hasn't developed the knowledge of the game yet, and others that have, can easily outthink him and control / beat him. There is a good player in there one day, but not yet. Out on loan is the best thing for him, as a toxic Charlton crowd coming into the arse end of the season won't help his development at all.

The result doesn't embarrass us, but the firm is relegation nailed on. Should it happen no, could it happen, it absolutely will, if the next 12 games are a repeat of that last 12.
  • I honestly think we could have Metal Micky or a Dalek in the team and they would still pull some sort of muscle.

Hector now out says we need another centre half as Jones and Ness can both suffer from narcolepsy!

Jones been really poor of late… imagine the abuse Hector would have got if he was turning in that level of performance that Jones is.
Gives the ball away so easily, poor for both goals, and missed our best chance.

  • Think that could be the last we see of Hector in a Charlton shirt then

We will need to get another 2 CB’s then, can’t rely on Thomas and Ness..

    We will miss Hector..
