It was more Raducanu wasn't on her game today. Sun was definitely far better, but it was more Raducanu was poor than Sun played her off the court. Don't know what was wrong with Raducanu
I agree Emma didn't have her A game but Sun hit deep and hit the lines. What goes around comes around and ironic that Raducanu gets beaten by a qualifier. Sun was the better player in all 3 sets and it was only that Emma fights and battles hard that she won the 2nd. Positives are that she beat two top 10 players at this Wimbledon but the negatives are she had a wonderful opportunity to get to a semi final or beyond. If she stays fit Raducanu may get as high as Katie Boulter and be around 30th. She has her mojo back and enjoyment for the sport.
My apologies to Coco Gauff, once she heard I had tipped her to win Wimbledon her game deserted her.
Raducanu faced so many second serves and for some reason just knocked the ball back centre court and got done by the superb forehand of Sun.Why did Emma use so many of those looping lobs when Sun had shown how good she was at putting balls away.Definate need for improvement,Emma should look at a video of the whole match and see where it went wrong.

Something not right with Emma on the day. I suspect the wrist was a problem and she shouldn't get enough weight on her shots plus her timing was clearly off - I've seen that happen to Ons before who said it is hard to explain how it can happen
If she'd played like nearly all her previous matches in the last 3 weeks she would have won. But she didn't - that's sport though. Interesting that Sun is ranked higher than her

Raducanu has not had to qualify for a lot of tournaments given how many wilcards she is given.
Sun has not has it so easy and was underrated by many.

Underrated but slightly higher ranked. Raducanu hasn't played that much in the last year and was in plaster 12 months ago after the first of 3 operations
I think Raducanu surpassed expectations (including her own probably) by reaching the 4th round of Wimbledon
I think the intensity of 4 tough matches in a week was too much at this stage given the injuries and resulting lack of tennis she has had.
That said Sun was mentally strong and stuck well to her game plan. I'd like to see her go all the way now or further anyway.
I agree about expectations (maybe that's why she agreed to the mixed - and we don't know if there were any discussions between them about what if.....). One (of many) criticism of her has been her giving up - her tenacity got her the second set
Not been for a few years now, I actually prefer going in the first week, as you can wander around the outer courts checking out games which look interesting, as there's so much tennis going on. And it's really interesting to get close up to the players too.
Just watched God's of Tennis on RTE. Focusing on Bjorg v McEnroe. Forgot how much I loved Bjorg even before I knew he was a Charlton fan. I was a kid, 6 when he won Wimbledon first but I just loved him in that fila kit. So sad he felt he had to stop playing at 26 because he couldn't handle the intrusion into his private life.
Novak Djokovic main problem is despite being the biggest slam winner in the open era he isn't loved by the majority of tennis watchers unlike Federer and Nadal. Serbia were looked upon as the bad guys in the balkan wars by the west and Novak's take on COVID didn't endear him to the public.
He now comes across as paranoid and deluded despite being a brilliant winner of slams over the last 16 years. Djokovic won't get universal love like Roger and Rafa and he should just accept it.
John McEnroe only became liked and loved by the masses once he retired and we saw that he was a funny articulate guy off the court.

Thats the thing, you've nailed it there. Absolutely brilliant tennis player but an absolute tool of a human being and is very very unlikable, unlike Federer, Nadal and even Murray who has rubbed people up the wrong way in the past but as grown into one hell of a player and likeable person.

I know that's not that daring a prediction given she's the highest seed left!!

I was the Wayne Rooney of tennis (street fighter ) against the establishment) but blessed with good good looks.
And I only saw second/third rounds and it was still class, can imagine how great the show courts are during the second week.
And infront of his kids.

He still is absolutely gorgeous 😍

Wonder if he'd like an afternoon on the Western Terrace at Headlingley where maybe he could learn about chants?
Tommy Paul takes the first set off of Alcaraz…
