Back in 84, John McEnroe beat up Jimmy Conners 6-1 6-1 6-2 in 80 minutes when I was out in Corfu watching.
This feels somewhat similar though Djokovic won't throw the towel in.

The Kings are dead; long live the King.

Italian Sinner is still number 1 despite this straight sets win against the Serbian GOAT for the Spanish boy Wonder Alcaraz.
    6-2 6-2 6-4

Soapbox Sam you doughnut 🤦🏻‍♂️ don't text the score at 5-4, 40 love and try to be clever.

It does feel the end of an era with this Alcaraz win.
Federer, Nadal, Djokovic had dominated the slams with Murray and Wawrinka the best of the rest.

I do believe Novak will carry on for a couple more season unless he starts losing in quarter finals.

Djokovic is still a very, very good player - expect him to pick up a couple more slams before he hangs it all up.

You are right though, the baton does appear to have been passed to Alcaraz. Hope he gets the same level of competition to push him as Fed/Djok/Nadal.

Alcaraz is something special,  think he will dominate tennis for years to come.

Turned out to be Djokovic’s second heaviest defeat in a grand slam final, winning only 10 games in total 2-6 2-6 6-7.

He had only previously lost three finals in straight sets: French Open 2020 vs Nadal (where he won 7 games 0-6 2-6 5-7), US Open 2021 vs Medvedev (where he won 12 games 4-6 4-6 4-6) and Wimbledon 2013 vs Murray (where he won 13 games 4-6 5-7 4-6).

Alcaraz already surpassed Murray and Wawrinka
