Coventry MOM yet again, played really well and glad he scored. Alex Mitchell had a very good game too, winning loads of challenges. Probably the best game Ahadme has had but that's a very low bar, and we were playing against a truly awful Burton team. Taylor has to start, every game. He and Coventry are fine together.
Couldn’t pay attention to the whole game, but from what I did see - the Gas Man is like watching paint dry. He’s got to be the slowest player out there, and possibly the worst out there today, closely followed by Anderson. He couldn’t pass or control the ball, and his decision making is slow and poor. It seemed he was constantly caught in possession. The trifecta of poor was finished off with Leaburn - yes. He did a lot of decent stuff, but I expect more from him, and like Anderson, his decision making was abject, and any final ball, be it a shot or a pass, was poor.
We really need to play Taylor as an attacking midfielder. The rest of the midfield seems to be clones of the same player, although Coventry looked decent today.
I’ll take the points, but they still need to improve a lot.
At the game, we weren't very good. No flair or cutting edge as usual. Diagonal ball nothing else. Changed abit when TC came on, for no other reason than they were aware of his pace and control. This is not the start of a run trust me.
A painful watch, but we did deserve the win. We were poor, but they were terrible. Considering how vulnerable we've been at the back in recent games, for Burton to have one shot on target all game shows why they're stranded at the bottom.
Our football is dreadful though. It's like Wimbledon in the 80s or John Beck's Cambridge in the 90s, hoofing it forward from the back and hoping for something to happen. And unlike Wimbledon or Cambridge back then, we're not an overachieving minnow, competing against bigger teams, we're employing these tactics against clubs with a budget way smaller than ours.
There's a massive issue with the coaching, and last summer's recruitment, as it's left us looking incredibly ordinary.
Coventry the clear MOTM, and not just for his goal. At least he tried to pass the ball, and wasn't caught dallying on the ball like Karoy was either.
Will be fantastic if our season turned around from the moment Burton’s mini Terry Hurlock went full Terry Hurlock.
I know Agent TT was lugging him about, but blimey he went full handbags. And then spat the dummy down the tunnel a bit cause he realised his reaction was at fault. I presume a young player with blood going upwards
Desperately poor game. Positives. Coventry looked a lot more positive than usual. Godden was okay as was Leaburn, and Taylor and Tyrece both looked good when they came on ( although I've lost count of the players who serve up a great last 15 minutes as subs, and then turn in a dogshit performance when they start). And the keeper made a fine save. Negatives (just a selection). Anderson is currently not good enough and needs a break and a loan. Gas once again showed how badly Ipswich schooled us when we gave them money for him. The team as a whole don't seem to know other players. Do they train individually? And Jones seems to promote a style of football so awfully you wonder whether he has been mentally damaged by a footballer and is seeking revenge on the sport.
Ahadme shows some nice touches BUT he doesn't look like someone who will score many goals, as he's not sharp enough in the box, and his heading isn't that great either.
Paper over the cracks result but I guess I cling to the fact it’s a needed result when you’re in a rut. Next two games including the cup game against lesser opposition will see if it’s given us a lift.
Shocking, inept performance. We got three points only because Burton were more inept than us and possibly the worst league one team I’ve ever seen. For me Taylor needs to replace Anderson and TC replaces Berry.
League One is so tight and despite our recent poor form we are in touching distance of the play offs. Offload a couple in Jan and strengthen a couple of areas and no reason why we can’t finish top six.

Needs help from the coaching team. Let's hope Danny is good at coaching...
That was so turgid. Burton maybe the worse 3rd tier team I can remember.
We started with 3 central strikers so obviously two of them had to drift wider. I'm totally baffled by Nathan's tactics.
That was the standard of a bottom six match in League 2.
Not convinced we would've won had the retaliation not happened and despite the win against the 24th team with 10 men I can't celebrate that and I'm normally a positive poster 🤦🏻♂️

Mate that's the biggest understatement of all time!
What was the feeling amongst you heroes who travelled to watch that rubbish? Were people getting really annoyed or was there just a grim acceptance that we are rubbish? Any calls for Jones to go?
The result masks the fact that we were awful yet again. Anderson needs to be loaned out in the transfer window. I just don't know what he brings to the team?
Utter Cack
He certainly needs to do some body building, he is being pushed off the ball so easily.

I was almost euphoric about his Southend winner. It was a complete flash in the pan.
If Alfie May had started for us tonight, he’d have had two goals probably by half-time, even with this shit around him. That is a criticism not just of Ahadme but Godden too. Although i like Godden, he’s not a patch on May, that much is now evident. And in turn it is evident that Jones treatment of May backe end of last season was indeed the strong warning sign that I feared at the time.
I've sat here tonight fuming. How can a team that so say has the 4th highest budget in the league be so inept? How can the only tactic they have be seemingly to hoof the ball forward? What on earth do they do in training all week?
The blame surely has to rest with Jones. How much longer are we going to have to put up with him and his strange team selections? Karoy Anderson may be a lovely guy who can run all day but he shouldn't be anywhere near the first team. How comes Taylor keeps getting frozen out?
That could so easily have been a bananas kin. The one great shot hard and low to AMB right needed a very firm hand to push out for a great save. At that point we were 0-0. Their sending off disnt really change things up much. We didn't really improve and out goal was merely just more pressure that eventually meant something went in. Don't let the stats fool anyone. This was turgid, low quality football, from two equally poor teams at the bottom of the form table.
What have Charlton done to again assemble a team of such poor quality players, that are seemingly coached to achieve as little as is possible out of their limited talents.
The Jones coaching strategy is truly awful and so anti-football that it isn't even fun to witness a win. Visually it's no more enjoyable that the losses.
Only success on the pitch will bring fans to The Valley. Anything else will have people leaving in their droves. The owners must be very concerned.
IMO, the sending off did change things up.
Up to that point, we could hardly play a forward pass to feet. Hoofball after hoofball after hoofball. And repeat....Anti football is such an apt description.
Then suddenly, panto season dawned a tad early ; the Fairy waved her magic wand and low & behold, the passing game materialised ! Oh yes it did !
Hardly a resounding victory but a very small step in the right direction.
Sadly, I fear we'll see more of the first half fare ....
....and fewer bums on seats at The Valley as winter descends.
Not a pretty game and first half was poor, but we were the better team and deserved to win. We badly needed a result and we got it, I can imagine there will be lots of negatives comments but we really weren’t as bad as some will make up. I’ve not seen anything to suggest this team will make the top 6 but if we can be in contention by January, with a few additions we might have a chance.
24 shots....must be a high for the season.
I must have missed half of those? Who did that stats Diane Abbott ?
Never watched it...BBC stats.
I like you, I thought I was the only one on here who does not watch the games and posts. Have a wonderful Christmas mate.
Don’t let the result paper over the enormous problems we have with this manager.
Did Luton actually play this way when he was manager, or is he capable of a Plan B?
Early days it was often shite according to my mate who is a Luton lad. But then it finally clicked, but don't ever expect expansive football. His nature was a little more random than even now, but that is just NJ I think. He has tried to control that since the Premiership experience.
It also took him a little while to get a tune out of a team.

”I think most people would consider a 1-0 win against 10 men to the bottom team in the division with 1 pt out their last 8 games good news”
