Fed up of us playing this underdog style.

If we work on our in possession and attacking play in training as Jones claims, why is there so little evidence of it in games?
    You are right.
    No discussion.

How are people using fitness as an excuse for Leaburn’s performances. He’s been back for over 2 months now, playing 800 minutes in 13 games.
He's been appalling, apart from in the cups against lower league players. Stick him in a match against adults in our league and he's a fish out of water. A very big, cumbersome fish that looks completely unbothered by what's happening around him on the pitch
A bit like a Goliath Grouper.

Goliath grouper are generally considered safe for humans, but large individuals should be treated with caution:
    Bite
Goliath grouper have a weak bite and small, sharp teeth, so an accidental nip is more like an abrasion than a piercing bite.
    Behavior
Goliath grouper are usually docile and will warn you if you're getting too close. They focus on smaller marine life and lack the predatory drive that might lead to attacks on humans.
    Size
Goliath grouper can grow up to 8 feet long.

Potts did look an upgrade on Gillesphey and noticeable we conceded after the switch was made. Would like to see him in a 3 with Mitchell & Jones
You would look good in this back line Fen, it's the complete lack of attacking nous that's the problem. Nathan Jones post match interview totally swerves how many chances we created or didn't create.
You didn't see me playing schoolboy football!
  • The football ramble often reference spurs needing an exorcism - seems apt for us too
  • For a very long time it has been a joyless experience following Charlton. No excitement, no fun, just a boring , energy sapping waste of time and money. Enough is enough. The boycott starts now. Let's see how the owners, smt and Jones respond when absolutely no one turns up, home or away. We can force the issue with our absence.
    Agreed
  • Slept through the whole game. Woke up to see the Leyton Os two goals. Now we can focus on losing the league.

  • "The squad I inherited " comment is weird.

I would say he's losing the plot, but I don't think he's ever had the plot!!!
Suspect that's one of those standard managerial comments that translates as a plea for more time/ money in the upcoming transfer windows.
  • I don’t even know the result, I’m
    past caring tonight,
But  I can’t even comprehend us getting relegated to league 2.

Our players are better than this, I'm certain.

The question is, which ones can form a successful, cohesive team with the determination to fight for one another and our club ....

But foremost in my mind is whether that can be achieved under NJ.

Sadly, it appears to have reached the point where the answer is a loud NO.

The point of no return for me, I'm afraid.

And uppermost in these players' minds must be their future prospects under this enigmatic man who is clearly "more mouth than trousers " so to speak.

Their salvation & futures in the game could be resurrected under another manager, I'm sure.

But it has to begin NOW if our season & their immediate futures have any chance of improvement.

Anyone know Gavin Carter's number ?

What I hate about this is that if they are and have downed tools because they don’t want to play for him, is that it’s at our expense, again.  It’s become clear that it happened with Adkins, Garner, Holden, Appleton and likely Jones, but I’m not happy that if we do get a new manager in, they’ll suddenly put a shift in for a few months until the pattern gets repeated.

It’s crazy how it’s played out exactly the same now since Bowyer left, all of the managers having similar(ish) periods before it all collapses.

I absolutely loved and adored so many players over the years, particularly in the curbs era.  I felt indifferent to that tranche from 07/08 through to 10/11, but I actually hate so many of the players that have put on the shirt since the 21/22 season.  They’ve all played their part and have left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth and continue to contribute to the apathy I have for my club right now.

Jones is approaching the end of the road, and for me that is a shame, because of all the managers we’ve had post Bowyer, he’s the one I felt has the most ability/chance to turn it around.  He’s clearly not up to
to it, but as the captain of the ship, the crew he’s had around him are equally to blame for its sinking.

Time will tell, but none of this lot scream they’re above the level we’re at, and I do fear it will be the repeated pattern of new manager bounce, but they’ll quickly show their real faces again by the end of the season if NJ goes in the next couple of weeks
It's not the same players though. We've had massive churn and endlessly got rid of the failed signings, only to bring in more flops.

Of the 16 players who featured today, 10 signed or made their debut THIS year, 7 this season. AMB is a veteran of the team with 70 ish appearances!

Fitness should be becoming less of a factor yes.

However we know he’s capable but our strikers have been starved of service all season and we play so little football it’s making even our better players look worse than they are.
  • I can heartily recommend going out and doing something else when this shower of shit play.

Went to see Nick Mohammed's Xmas show with my daughter, a far better way to spend my time and money.

Have seen nothing but the stats (which are quite frankly pathetic) and a comment about Dixon. Please someone tell me that Jones didn't give him his debut as a wing back!!!???!

Now I know why we’ve been persisting with long diagonal passes & general hoofball, it’s because the players are incapable of passing to a team-mate 6 feet away. They’re all a disgrace to the red shirt & badge!

He was more right midfield in a sort of 442 I thought.
  • seems like we have been digging for several years and still haven’t found the bottom, but not for want of effort.  Seems like we are spending on more shovels and no in fill. I am out of fucks to give.
  • Reality check… we are no longer the sleeping giant who should be in a higher league. Those days are gone. Like many teams… that is well in the past. We are a crap mid table L1 team who think they are better than they are.
We are where we deserve to be. We need to adjust our expectations are accept we are just a mid table ish L1 team…… We are not superior to Crawley or Orient etc. The old days of Prem, Div 1 are gone.
We have a budget Crawley and Orient can only dream of though. That surely should show on the pitch?
Yes. The fact we have a significantly larger budget and still are no better than Crawley and Orient kind of confirms even more how crap we are!

I haven't stated or even hinted that I feel the players have "downed tools".

What I do believe is that they are unhappy, confused even by the manner in which they are "managed" - the roles they are told to play in a match /the demands even of a manager who continues to bark orders from the touchline from minute one to minute ninety.

I read one post here  from a Lifer who was sitting close to the home dugout tonight. He appeared amazed at the consistent and confusing orders shouted out by NJ ...and commented that some were ambiguous to say the least....Maybe this is just an indication of what the players are "fed" in training as well as once on the pitch.

We shouldn't be surprised if listening to his post match interviews is anything to go by...including some of the nonsense he spouts at times.

TBH, I'd even suggest that some might deliberately switch off in order to preserve their sanity and just try their best.
Last time I was near the dugout, Jones screamed at Ahadme "Gassan, Gas, Gas, STAY, STAY, GAS, STAY!!! STAY, GAS!!!!! GASSSSSSSS!!!!!! STAY GAS STAY!!!!!!!" and literally not 5 seconds later

"GASSSSSSSSANNNNN!!!!!! MOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEE ITTTTT, CHASE THE BALL, PRESS THE MAAAAANNNNNN FUCKS SAKE"

    Absolutely bewildering
A player I once coached naturally drifted to the FB when pressing in a front 3, mid 3 + FB press structure. His starting position would leave a pass lane inside and opposition players rotating or dropping in behind would have a free pass, allowing the opposition an easy out.
By focusing on moving his start position (Gas Stay) he would block the pass lane and then press once the pass was on the way to the FB from CB (Gas move, press the man).

There needs to be more context to where Gassan was, what he was meant to be doing on both sides of the communication and is this something that is being worked on in training. It may seem bewildering but there may also be more thought process behind it.

However, there are ways to communicate and his crazed screaming is probably not the best way for the majority of players.
  • The end is nigh - has to be - and good.

This absolute shower is what happens when you decimate a football club from top to bottom over 2 decades.

Who's next - who knows and frankly it is hard to care.

We need to stay up and there may be 10 managers that can probably achieve that with us.

Once again we see under investment - look at Derby when they came down, look at Birmingham, we need owners with deep pockets and GENUINE ambition.

We haven't had one of those yet.
  • Watching from home when Godden came off it looked like he had words with Jones other FB posts i have seen have said Potts did aswell

Did anyone at the game see or close enough to hear what was said ?
  • As previously mentioned, multi billionaire owners. 1000 millions in a billion. It would probably take the small change from down the back of their sofa's to invest enough to try and fix this. Nut Job needs to go, he can't be good for the players mental health ranting and raving all the time, surprised he has not been decked by now. We need a Curbishly type at the helm.
  • closed the thread in disgust when we went 0-1 down. A nice extra kick in the bollocks to find out we conceded another.
  • Poor manager, poor players, as Fanny said they have "Downed Tools", we really are in a s**t place, massive changes are needed!

I am a big fan of bringing youth into the side, but when you have bad players on the pitch these kids will not stand a chance! We don't need to loan Dixon out, we need good players on the pitch and We Have Not Got Those!

Supported the club since the 70's, but unless they change I will vote with my feet, why should I care anymore with NJ and his Luton rejects, since HART retired it's all gone pear shaped, I used to put more effort bunking in at the away end and these players do on the pitch!
