No flair, no creativity, no real desire and a drop off in effort.  This does have the feel of a squad that have lost faith in the direction and plan.

Or they are just a mix of past it or not good enough.

We are simply too easy to beat.
    No Fight at all.
  • As poor as we have been in recent years there was always a player or two you could get behind and feel they could drag us out of mediocrity.  Dobson, May, CBT, RakSaki etc.  In our current squad L Jones could probably go to the Championship, Leaburn maybe still has a chance but has been very poor since his injury... The others, L1 is their ceiling at best.  It is a terrible squad in quality, in depth and in balance.  I cannot fathom why Scott remains after 2yrs of complete and utter failure to such a level I think most fans could have done better.
As for Jones, enough is enough.  I couldn't give two shits about this cup or being out of it but if you are going to play first teamers you have to put on a better effort than the stats show we did.
Thankfully I was out for a lovely dinner in town and had forgotten this game was even on.
We’re never going to get out of League 1 with a squad full of players only good enough for L1 and below. That this true is borne out by performances week after week, our results and our position in the table.

Just woke up and forgot we played last night. I take it we won with 700+ comments and getting to Wembley is just a formality at this stage?
  • On a side note looking at the sides left in the southern part of the draw:

Stevenage, Swindon, Orient, Cheltenham, Walsall, Colchester, Peterborough/Northampton and.........Birmingham.

Surely it's an absolute given that Birmingham will be one of the 2 southern area teams reaching the semi's.

We are seeing lowly teams attack us with purpose and decent passing and when we try to do the same the ball looks like a hot potato. 0pponents seem to have more time and space. When you get moments when you can see a quality pass or touch could open things up, you can bet your house on it being passed up. This isn't just under Jones but for too long we have looked like a team that tries to lose games. Of course we don't but it feels like it. When we do get chances, they are often snatched at. We seem to see the same things happen with different players.

If I ran the club I would be telling Jones things have to change, starting on Saturday or he will be gone. I think we have to be at that point by now.

He did yeah but there was plenty of time to sort things out after. We're just crap.

"The squad I inherited " comment is weird.

I would say he's losing the plot, but I don't think he's ever had the plot!!!
The squad he inherited had the league’s top scorer in it. Fucking prick (him not you).

Wasn’t Taylor going to be our saviour? Him and Dixon…

I've said this before, but his ranting, jumping and bobbing about constantly on the sidelines will have very little effect as time moves on.
He was doing it when we were relatively ok at the start of the season. But when things really go tits he's nowhere to go.
When Curbs really lost the plot, which was rare the players knew they really had to up their game. When Jones goes nuts, it's just another day at the office.

He's the complete opposite of Appleton in this respect. Maybe that was one of the reasons why the SMT hired him. I still can't believe how happy I was when we hired him. On paper, at the time, it was such a good move from the club. I cannot believe how bad it has turned out.

I saw it as a coup and someone that I thought would come in with a point to prove that Southampton and Stoke were just wrong club wrong time. Instead it feels like they were the actual Nathan Jones and Luton was the outlier. I even took the slightly negative style of play last season as a " this isn't my squad and the aim is survival" expecting that a summer of signing players he wanted would bring about a change of style to a more free flowing attacking style. Instead we've gone even further backwards to some of the worst football I've seen in 20+ years.

I'd be surprised if he made Christmas now.

I remember sitting behind the Man City bench back when Stuart Pearce was manager. He was ranting and raving the whole game at his players. Robbie Fowler totally ignored him for the whole game then finally towards the end turned and stared at him for about 10 seconds and mouthed to him “f@#k off”. I was sitting with an ex professional who said players absolutely hate managers that do that and lose respect for them very quickly. Theres no impact when they do it all the time and they completely zone out.
  • Our squad isn't good enough BUT no way are the players as bad individually as they've looked in recent weeks.

The tactics are baffling, and I'm sure the players feel the same way, while the complete lack of attacking systems really makes you question what happens on the training ground. When you see rival teams on smaller budgets, progressing up the pitch by interchanging quick passes as they move into space, that's not because they've splashed the cash, it's because they've worked on things on the training ground.

We started the season solid, but with no attacking flair. With our first choice centre backs, Jones and Mitchell, we still look solid, but 3 months later we still look inept when trying to attack. What have they been doing at Sparrows Lane?

This was what was glaringly obvious in the games against Crawley and Orient. Players knocking it around us like they were Barcelona and us looking like a team on Hackney Marshes. Absolutely disgraceful from a management point of view. Taylor and Coventry are more than capable, in fact if either of them were playing for our opponents I expect they would look a hundred times better than they do for us. I doubt they even know what they are supposed to be doing. I do think the right manager could get a lot more out of us, no idea who that is though.

For those who didn't have the pleasure...that highlights video barely tells half the story. They'd had about five shots before we hit the post. And they had quite a few chances to make it 2-0.

  • To be blaming the result on "the squad I inherited" is a bit strange when they are almost all his picks.
He hasnt mentioned the over the hill crap that ,with our 4th largest budget in this league,he brought to the club.

  • I had football loving rellies (Spurs) staying last night, no way did I want them watching our rubbish, nor did I really,  and for the first time I did not watch us when I could have done so.

Didn't notice this about the celebration of their second, but
@louismend isn't there a picture of him (Mendonca that is, not Agyei) doing that celebration on the wall of the West Stand? So not that much research required

Our academy teams play decent attacking football. It must be a shock for the youngsters when they reach our first team.
  • Still very confused that we have 4 reasonable strikers but can't score goals.
Watching Leaburn I wonder what is happening on the training ground. He often goes for the same ball as whichever striker he plays with. Makes the same move to near post or far post without thinking they will get in each other's way. Surely they can't be coaching this.

That was a very Spursy defeat, so they would have felt at home

Isn’t that confusing, we are losing the midfield every game and resorting to long ball and flick ons, the forwards whichever combination we play are not getting any sort of decent service

Nathan Jones was given a four year contract.
