Completely understand that point as well.LargeAddick said:
but there are two parties involved in agreeing a release clause. too low, we don't get a decent fee, too high and he doesn't sign a contract and we get next to no fee. what would you prefer? The Red Robin said:
No issues with a release clause - just the figure, it's far too low. If true.LargeAddick said:
exactly, why can't some people see this instead of using it as another stick to beat RD over the head with? The alternative would have been a Poyet situation and a fee decided by tribunal of two shirt buttons and a bag of Tesco pick n mix.Paddy Powell said:

Wasnt that simply a Gentlemans Agreement that Liverpool decided not to honour because Arsenal's bid was so cheekyAll_Thaid_Up said:If you remember last year Suarez had. 40m clause and arsenal bid 40.000.001. He didnt end up there he went to Barca for more money.

Would love it if we signed Bulot... Could fast become one of my favourite players... i.e. his reaction when he sat on Watt after the latter had scored against either Brentford or Huddersfield spoke volumes about how much he seems to like it here2

or he just really likes Tony Watt!ForeverAddickted said:Would love it if we signed Bulot... Even if he had a release clause (which he hasnt according to Cawley) then it doesnt mean he goes for that price.
Why's everyone getting their knickers in a twist???5 -
Because if its like the release clause feature on Football Manager then when that is met, there is sod all you can do other than click the accept button (and its bloody annoying cos you can do nothing about it)Bolderhumphreyreid said:

Cawley reporting a guaranteed £5-6m with it going up to £10m with add-ons. If true, that's a good deal.2

Gomez signed a contract as a young lad making his first steps into first team football, and in the knowledge that he was at a club who would sell him to a bigger club at the right time and price guaranteed. From what we know, both he and his parents have their heads screwed on and his initial position was a preference to stay rather than move and he had to be persuaded otherwise. I would be reasonably confident that if he is not playing in a Premiership first team, he would prefer to be playing in a Championship one. The last thing he would have thought about was a buy out clause.1

It may well be that Gomez has a buy out clause. I'd be surprised if it was as low as 3.5 mill though. RD is too canny for that.0
-
You would see a different pattern if it was a by out clause and we would have accepted the offer by now0

I wonder if Liverpool have told the press there's a release clause so it appears they're spending less.3

Aren't Liverpool a club where they have to declare transfer fees etc?The Red Robin said:I wonder if Liverpool have told the press there's a release clause so it appears they're spending less.

Reports that Joe Gomez has £3.5m release clause are not right. If that was the price then deal would already be done and dusted.

Release clause it is then !
(only joking Richard)2 -
No, fans make things up and that is all it takes for a rumour to grow. The Red Robin said:I wonder if Liverpool have told the press there's a release clause so it appears they're spending less.

Interestingly have seen that Bournemouth have had a £4m bid for Max Gradel rejected... Wonder how much we bid for him the other year (Wasnt it around £1m?)0

Tottenham are interested in Swansea's Jonjo Shelvey, according to The Guardian.
With Paulinho and Etienne Capoue likely to move on this summer, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would like to bolster his options in midfield and he feels Shelvey would fit perfectly into his system.0 -
Guingamp have announced the signing of Belgian striker Nill De Pauw from Lokeren on a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old scored 28 goals across his 173 appearances for the Pro League side before making the switch to French football.
De Pauw will help bolster Guingamp's forward line given last season's top scorer Claudio Beauvue is expected to leave the Stade du Roudourou in the summer transfer window.0 -
Shelvey would be a great signing for Spurs - He should be in the England squad -even as an option from the bench - it is strange Hodgson doesn't pick him. My sense is that the Gomez deal is going to be positive. Liverpool were trying to get it done on the cheap but if Southampton have come in with £6m then the bidding war we wanted has happened. I think it looks like we are in a strong position here for a change.1
