Charlton are keen on a loan deal for West Ham defender Reece Burke.Valley11 said:Reece Burke linked in SLP.
West Ham centre back who won player of the year at Bradford last season.
And guess what......it would be a loan.
The Addicks have made their interest in the 19-year-old defender known to the Premier League outfit.
But the South London Press understands that their chances of getting Burke - who won Bradford’s Player of the Year award last season - are slim.
Newcastle have also been linked with handing Burke a chance to show what he can do at Championship level.
The England U20 centre-back is a top prospect and Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has previously stated: “He will stay with us only if he has a good chance to play.

Does he still live in Brookside Close?daveydanger said:2 -
Do you mean the same Conor McAleny who excelled with Wigan in League One last season?Greenie Junior said:Oh good we're signing Conor mcaleny again

Saw him play for Bradford a bit. Nothing special but solid enough. Gets forward well at set pieces and makes a nuisance of himself, but, like any Phil Parkinson team, hoofed the ball upfield every time he had it. Highly rated at West Ham though.Valley11 said:Reece Burke linked in SLP.

you also forgot Motta, Big Mak, Reza, Dmitrovic, Bergdich. All squad players.BigRedEvil said:So far we've got rid of
Sarr
Watt
Vetokele
Tucadean
JBG
Cousins
Pope
Probably Henderson
All amongst the highest earners at the club and we've only replaced them with 3 players.
Add in the likes of Fanni, Suk Young leaving after their loans we've got an even smaller squad than before. Whilst also carrying Diarra, Kashi, Solly, JJ and Bauer who have history of picking up injuries making them miss a chunk of the season.
2 weeks before the start of the season we are in a terrible state. The ownership of the club has again shown a total lack of ambition to actually want to succeed this season.2 -
Don't worry, the entire board including Richard Murray said they had underestimated the Championship last season and learnt from their mistakes. I believe they also said something along the lines of "they are going to build a squad this year capable of promotion from league 1"BigRedEvil said:So far we've got rid of

When have the owners ever got it wrong?1 -

Top stuff. If he's half as successful as the last bloke called Connor who signed on loan from Everton he'll be a sure fire hit.daveydanger said:3 -

But a follow up move to take the 20-year-old on loan has foundered because Wigan cannot guarantee that Brannagan will play in at least three-quarters of their matches during his loan spell.
An interesting story, that Liverpool don't charge loan fees, but insist that players loaned out play 75% of the matches, or else there will be financial penalties. I wonder if any of our loan signings have had similar clauses
The Echo understands that the Reds now insist on a “75 per cent” clause for all of their loaned players, whereby clubs are penalised financially if a player they have loaned does not play in a specified ratio of matches.

You just wonder how long Russell Slade will stay when he realises what a big mistake he has made.3

Sanogo had something similar. Not sure if it came into account as he was injured for the majority of his time at Charltonkillerandflash said:http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-insisting-playing-clause-loan-11641458

Years ago we signed Carl Ikeme on loan from Wolves as Rob Elliott was injured, and he went straight in the first team with Randolph left fuming on the bench - not surprisingly, Randolph didn't renew his contract and left us on a Bosman soon afterwardsBen18 said:

At the time it was rumoured that we "had" to play Ikeme as part of the loan arrangement2 -
With Sonogo the percentage of his wages we payed went down with every game he played and after five full game (sub apps = 1/2 a game) we paid nothingBen18 said:

Due to suspension and injury I don't think he played five games (counting subs as 1/2) so not sure what happened? Did we have to keep paying his full wages or did Arsenal let us off because he was injured?0 -
I can't stand loans.
I know we've had some positive ones in the past but i really struggle to get excited about players who see us as a stepping stone to progress their career.
We need players who 'buy' into our history and want to put that red shirt on with pride.11 -
There is now no money for signings? Did I read that? So the desperate giveaway sales pay for the losses and we are left with loans.
So instead of seeing Premiership stars of the future we now see other clubs stars of the future.
Great.
Slade is staggering around within this madness trying to make the best of it, he has chosen this of his own free will and must deliver at least 13 points before the transfer window slams shut, and 50 points around third round of the cup time.
Loans because we have no money, I blame Sue Parkes.0 -
We have no money because KM cant negotiate a decent fee to save her life.5

I read it on this thread but not sure where this has come from. Anyone care to expand?seth plum said:There is now no money for signings? Did I read that? So the desperate giveaway sales pay for the losses and we are left with loans.

Reading all the above comments, you realise just what a shambles/joke this club has become.
So bad in fact a Palace supporting mate of mine doesn't even bother to take the piss out of us anymore.
And yet still people are wobbling and thinking of renewing their season tickets.
Now that really is weird.

What's weird about supporting your team through good and bad times?14

I read we couldn't buy anyone else until sales were made, but we have now sold JBG, Cousins and Pope and possibly Henderson to follow, with Watt presumably totally off the wage bill, so whilst they won't reinvest all of that, they must allow Russell to spend some.0

He hasn't made a mistake. He knew exactly what the score was when he agreed to become manager. He has his own agenda, the trouble is, I don't think that involves giving his all to his latest club.callowendaddick said:You just wonder how long Russell Slade will stay when he realises what a big mistake he has made.
