Slade needs to walk. He's been lied to just like the rest of us. They don't want to spend anything. I'm glad results pre season gave been poor. If we had done ok I think all recruitment would have stopped.
Manager saying we are more than half a team short of being competative just two weeks before kick off says it all.
We know when a manager wants "5 or 6" signings under RD and KM that means he's likely to bring in about 3. They'd rather gamble on Hanlan or Umerah stepping up than spend that bit more and have 4 proven strikers.
In Novak, Crofts and Holmes we have 3 players with no real potential sell on value which to RD is a lot when we've also got Jackson, Diarra, Johnson etc.
Happy for them to prove me wrong but we've needed 1 or 2 more pretty much every window since the takeover. Really don't see anything changing.
"Actively resisting network cast-offs" seems only thing that has changed is that it's now Slade saying no rather than Powell and we know how that ended.
The interview for those that cant get it elsewhere-:
Russell Slade hopes Charlton can sign “five or six” more players before the start of the new season.
And the Addicks boss expects the club to complete a deal to bring a goalkeeper in before the pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.
The departures of Nick Pope and Stephen Henderson have left the Addicks without a senior stopper at the club.
Pope, 24, joined Premier League new boys Burnley last week while Henderson joined Nottingham Forest on Friday on a free transfer. But Slade revealed after today’s goalless draw at Leyton Orient that he hoped to sign a goalkeeper in the “next 72 hours”. When asked about former triallists Kevin Foley and Lewis Buxton, who did not feature at Orient, Slade said: “They would make good additions to the squad but we are looking at the finances because we have priority areas to look at.
The two boys [Foley and Buxton] did well and they would be good additions to the squad.”
Pope established himself into the Charlton first-team last season and Slade admitted he assumed he would stay when he first arrived in the Valley hotseat.
He added: “It was a possibility that Stephen Henderson was moving on and then Nick was going to stay and we would look for a No.2 goalkeeper.
“But when the window is open these things happen. Burnley came in with a huge offer for Nick and it was one we had to consider. “That’s gone now and we need to replace him.”
Last week Iceland star Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Scottish striker Tony Watt also sealed moves away from SE7.
The departures leave Slade’s squad thin on the ground and he insisted he was looking to sign five or six players before the start of the season.
“We’re miles away,” Slade said, when asked about the depth of his squad.
“I’d like to think we can get another five or six additions to the group. If we are going to be competitive at the top end, that’s what we need to do.
“There were a lot of young players on the pitch today and it was good for their experience, but when the campaign kicks off we need to have the right type out there.
“The balance of the team is going to be very important, it can’t be as young and inexperienced as it was at the end of today.”
I wonder what EssexAl thinks about the goalkeeper(or should it be non goalkeeper) situation.
I'm sure by the time all of our thousands of away fans arrive at Bury the current situation will be resolved.
Be about 800, similar to the amount of players who have fled SE7 in relief since May.
Get 'em in Al!
No doubt you will be there in Bury
He is. Ricky otto's getting the beers in
Only reason I'm going. I'll do anything for a free drink, EsexAl will confirm.
Take plenty of money with you Ricky cause he wont be getting the first one that's for sure!
I'm saving for Walsall already!
Don't know why short people have long pockets?
That's how come he gets away with it, you cant see the little fucker in the crowd, but he can see you. Next thing you know, you're getting them in and he appears behind you!
Looking forward to Walsall little G!
You're alright Al. Shame you think the Belgians are not destroying Charlton Athletic Football Club.
The 'joy' of message boards is that on these things I think you're a c*** but having met you I think you're a good geezer, certainly when you get them in!
Loan....rubbish. Surely we've got some money to buy him? He's a good keeper.
Well perhaps he will only sign a loan!..
Nice one Cyril
Ha ha...sorry shirty, ins and outs, of a cats arse springs to mind. If he doesn't sign on loan, perhaps we could stand a dustbin there. Probably then cause a debate as to whether a wheelie bin would be better, on an undisclosed three year deal from Grenwich Borough.
Conor McLaughlin from Fleetwood Town linked on one of those dodgy rumour sites. Full back who played for N Ireland at Euro 16.
Finally an excuse to get rid of Chris Solly.
McLaughlin will be cheaper, they'll get money from Solly and McLaughlin is an International from Euro 2016 so on that basis is better than Chris Solly.

Considering Solly signed a new contract last week that would be weird, even by KM's standards.

What money would you get for Solly?....
'Get' money? Imagine that as a concept.
No, we're like some sort of football outreach program, donating players outright, or paying them to play for clubs that have little or no money for wages.
Nottingham forest need a backup keeper - sure, take ours for free.
Red Star Paris want our £1.5m centre back - well, I've never heard of Red Star, so I'm pretty sure they can't afford to pay him, so why don't we just take care of his wages for them.
Igor and Reza are fancied by clubs in the lowlands you say? Sure! Take them! We have no use for them here. Would you like us to pay Igor's wages too? Of course we will.

I was being sarcastic. ..can't imagine we would get anything for Solly, with dodgy knees.

I know. Just ranting about the complete ineptitude of these fuckwits.
I'm assuming this guy will cost money? If slade isn't allowed to sign Buxton on a free I can't see this happening. Unless he has a potential resale value hence spending money on ajose

Nothing this regime does can be a surprise, except if it actually did something sensible.
