Josh McEachran who has been on trial with Sheffield Wednesday is no longer wanted. DMF who has good Championship experience. Could be worth a punt.

Conspiracy theory: when Deji signed, he had the hashtag #DO4, although yesterday he wasn’t number 4, are we leaving this spare for Bielik?

i know squad numbers haven’t been released yet, although they have been consistent!

We beat them to Lyle last summer. I know exactly which of the two I’d prefer. :-)

His record doesn’t look really superb and reading seem keen to let him go. That said, if bowyer wanted him then he must have been decent. Shame. 

What about Parker, he wasn’t decent. Bowyer will make mistakes and with the budget it’s to be expected. 

Parker was the free cover in case the deal we were going for fell through. It did fall through and despite his limitations, he played a key part in our promotion. Watch the closing stages of Wembley and if you don't get it, keep watching it until you do. In the context of why he was signed, I think it was a bloody spectacular signing. Parker deserves our gratitude. I'm not going to argue he was a great player, but he made a difference. We ought to be a bit more appreciative IMO.

Given his limitations, the fact he gave 100% even though he knew the final would probably be his final game I genuinely agree and said so at the time. 

But he had a couple of decent games and overall was a failure, proven by the fact he failed to score (and he had plenty of decent chances. Spectacular signing? Absolute rubbish

Winger Josh Parker has returned to Queen's Park Rangers a week before his loan spell was due to expire.

"Josh has gone back a week early," confirmed boss Ian Sampson.

"He was not happy when we told him he would not be in the starting XI for the game at Oxford at the weekend. He asked to go back and we agreed that was the best course of action."

Parker was set to miss the Carling Cup game at Ipswich on Tuesday as he was cup tied.

Gillingham winger Josh Parker has signed a two-year contract extension to stay with the club until 2019.

I'm not denying Gillingham played him on the wing, but Parker himself said he loves playing as striker.

He's not a midfielder that's never played anywhere else that we decided to stick up front. He's a player that sees himself as a striker but has also been used out wide.

What amazes me is how some don't understand that we can't see everything when we watch games. Purrington was a great example - the minute he joined us we became more solid and harder to beat and we still had a fair number on here questioning his worth to the team. Sometimes the team needs attributes and players bring those attributes which make a difference. When the budget is tight, and you can't bring in Roberto Carlos, you do your homework and work out if the player will improve you or not.

The idea with Parker was I'm sure he was there in an emergency with the hope we wouldn't need him. For example, injuries or us not getting our target.  But our management would have done their homework and realised in that situation, he had attributes we needed. Sometimes you don't get everything you want, but those attributes make the difference. They didn't bring him in for a laugh, and it doesn't go against their judgement, but shows how good it is.

A completely different level, but I think it illustrates the point. The team I managed got stitched up and was promoted three divisions last season. We brought in a few new players but we struggled to begin with with heavy defeats although we played better than the scorelines. My co-manager and I worked out it was due to a lack of pace in one of the centre half positions. We couldn't just find a fast centre half who was a decent player, as they had all been snapped up. So we asked the lads to identify the fastest runners in their schools who could kick a ball a bit. They got us one and we let them join for free. From that moment we stopped losing games. We beat the top teams and went from second from bottom to finishing third and winning the cup. And throughout that, I was still getting parents commenting how the new lad didn't seem to be able to kick the ball well etc... I reminded them that the goals we used to concede with teams getting behind us, we had stopped conceding. They weren't wrong what they were seeing, but the statistics showed he made a massive difference.

I have wondered why people who follow football don't seem to get that it isn't only what you see on the pitch but what you see on paper. It seems obvious. Now up the levels massively and it all gets far more complicated and technical, but it is what Bowyer and Gallen did with Purrington and Parker. They brought in cheaply, because that was all they could do, players that statistically improved us. It may have been in the case of Parker, because we didn't have better with Grant being sold, but the point stands. The fact it is all so clever and technical and difficult with no money makes it pretty damn impressive. 

In view of the outcome, and the circumstances, I would say Parker was as good as any signing they made last season. Sorry, but to read the suggestion that it proves Bowyer can make mistakes got my goat. It is one of the most ridiculous statements I have seen on here for a while! Got that off my chest, I'll shut up now!  

Parker played his part. Turns out to be a great signing due to Igor's injury woes and nothing else. Would he have played those vital games if not? ... NO! SG got the best he could muster given Roly's severe case of knobheadery in January and LB made him contribute 3 times more than his ability allowed. GENIUS
