We've only got one loan slot left, can't see why we would expect any more than one more?
Rumours that Matt Taylor might still be a permanent signing

If thats the case then we might see one more - If not then he'll be the final loan signing
Should be able to find a right back on a permanent so wouldn't be too worried if it was a loan. Obviously prefer a permanent though.

I think M Taylor is our first choice but with what happened last time with B City in Jan we have Moult as second choice.

Whilst we may have put a deadline of 11am on Liverpool with Kane, remember he then needs to agree to come here, physically  come and have a medical and sign the contract. So just because it hasn't been announced doesn't mean its off necessarily, but the signing of Field to me indicates it won't happen

I have a contact of a contact at Brentford who says they are expecting three players incoming today.

Halil Dervişoğlu from Sparta Rotterdam, Dominic Thompson from Arsenal and Saman Ghoddos from Amiens.
I hope your contact is right!
  • Everybody saying Leko is a quality player.... am I right in saying he hasnt scored in a league game in 3 years? lol

Cant forget Kienan Davis either though from Aston Villa

Only difference is the fact that Taylor and Moult have been named by Cawley, Davis hasnt

Most of his appearances are from the bench and he's played as a winger. I expect we will use him more as a striker.

We can sign more than 5 loan players, just can't have more than 5 in the 18

Deadline day without Natalie Sawyer and Kirsty Gallagher still upsets me!

Sounds a bit like Karlan's career prior to Crawley

Especially if Leko sees himself as a Striker instead of a winger too

I still reckon we need 5 ideally.
RB, CDM, No 10, pacey striker, lyle backup

    That's assuming no one leaves.

    That's best case.

Minimum - can get by with Oshilaja covering RB

Can likely get by with William's and Morgan as cover for Aneke as no 10

So CM and 2 strikers would do. Then consider Harriott as an option when the window closes.
So that's the CDM and the Pacy Striker in.

Ideally a RB, No 10 and a backup for Lyle (+Lyle replacement if he goes) in

    Min another Striker and Harriott
We already have three who can play RB.

4 if you include Brendan  (Solly, Deji, Lockyer)
  • None of them are really wing backs though

Think the Saman Ghoddos from Anmiens is now dead the deal that is.

Halil Dervisoglu from Sparta Rotterdam is 18 and only played for B team last season.

Thats the info i am reading from my neck of the woods.

    Hope your contact is good.

Solly, Deji, Sarpong? Can't really see Sarpong being trusted in this league. Very promising though.

Might be useful when we play West Brom, seeing that 2 players will be ineligible!

Agree - hence why i said it was the ideal position. However would much rather we dont get into a situation like we did last year where we had Sarr as LB cover and Bielik as RCB cover but then needed them both in their main position so ended up having to play Solly out of position at LB.

And of course if Sols is our only dedicated RB he does have a bit of an injury record. As much as i love him I want someone to push him and to cover/rotate with him.

You wouldn't have wanted to go into the season with Page as our only LB but Sarr and Stevenson as cover?

I can definitely see Sarpong in RB this season, not every game mind but definitely given his chance there.

'Can' is the key word though. I admit I don't know a great deal about Oshilaja but my understanding is he's a CH who can play RB if needed. I'm always nervous of defenders who 'can' play RB because it very rarely seems to go well. Morrison was touted as one of these, and he was truly atrocious whenever he was stuck out wide. Even Joe Gomez is a world apart in his natural position compared to when he's deployed as a full back. Add to that the fact we might be playing with wing backs and it becomes even less suitable. I see these players as ones who can fill the role in a pinch, so really we would be going in to the start of the season with one specialist right back who has a history of injuries and wasn't first choice in L1 which isn't ideal. Playing players in the wrong position, trying to convert them to random new roles, playing them on the wrong flank, it never ends well. I'd feel much more comfortable if we had proper cover for Solly and his poor old knees.

The reality though is we're working with a stupidly small budget and so evidently we're likely to sacrifice somewhere and it will be here

  •  If you're reading this Lyle, please don't go.

Be hard work breaking the news to this little fella!

  • RE  Brentford Dervisoglu from Sparta Rotterdam young, played over 40 games for Sparta B team last season SO not up to Taylors standards……...Dervisogle in Brentford for medical.

So does Taylor stay or go.....no idea

Which is exactly the type of signing Brentford do.

Buy young players who will (hopefully) improve then be sold on for vast profit. I said 2 days ago that Taylor would go against almost every signing Brentford have made in recent seasons. They simply don't buy 'old' players with no sell on value.

I know how you feel mate,my littleun wanted his name on her shirt this season(bless her she was waiting till they were in the sale,as she doesn't want to give anymore money to Roland)...go on Taylor see out this season for us...

I hate that Lyle is so quiet on Twitter lately, making me nervous now.
If you were him and saw some of the negative comments on this forum alone let alone the less respectable versions you would ignore social media for a week. We are all enititled not to comment.

  • Keep Lyle, add another striker and a RB and I'll be very happy. Seems to me we've got enough MF now.

Pretty sure Bournemouth operated a similar model (buy young) but recognised that a player like Yann would be a cheap and reliable way of guaranteeing goals and experience to get out of the league.

Granted Lyle hasn't proved himself in the Championship like Yann but paying minimal money (in the current climate) for older strikers like Lyle/Yann who don't necessarily rely on pace is a savvy move to get out of the league, even for those teams who might not typically do that.

Bobby Reid may be leaving Cardiff, Bristol City interested in bringing him back to the club. Would possibly allow M Taylor to come in.

Fulham the more likely destination apparently.
