Is it bad that I fear I’m mostly going to remember Bowyers reign for the last 10-minutes of headless chickenism and players shitting themselves as any game that we’re not losing edges to a close?
I do wish we adopted some sort of alternative approach. I don't just think this is Bowyer though. We've always seemed to have done it no matter who the manager is
On occasion sure, it just seems a constant at present for like the last calendar year....
  • Another win and good hard worked performance, shows another
side of our game we have improved on, regaining the lead and
initiative, and seeing out the game with all that added time.
Great performance lads, get in COYR  :)
  • They're a proper nasty side so I'm glad we saw it out like that. Imagine Barton would've been seething with the way we did it.

Another win, albeit very hard fought. Fleetwood are a decent side and, when they pulled the 2 goal deficit back, I was concerned that with the momentum they had, they might push on and get another. However HT came just about at the perfect time for us and we came out 2nd half won the penalty took the lead and played well, but in my mind, were dropping too deep. We have the " we will not lose" mentality coursing through the side, and that became evident at the end. Well played to every player, cant fault them and now many will get a well earned rest before they go again. This is an exciting time to be a Charlton fan.....what's not to like?

Needed to concede sometime. Best to do it when you win.

Famewo needed back ASAP but we still looked very much a top 6 side even with everyone out.

Got the clean sheet monkey of our back and three points . No league game for a while . Happy days .
Will we play the same team two games in a row this season ? Probably not but who cares if we keep winning.

Tough match, two good teams, another crap ref but we won again onwards and more importantly upwards.

Wonders will never cease ... Watson didn’t get booked. Some solid performances tonight. Thought Washington had his best game, Purrington didn’t put a foot wrong, Bogle looked a handful, Morgan impressed. 17 shots! Onwards and upwards. The Future’s bright, the future’s Red and White
  • Thought we gave to much possession away in midfield which led to some bowel inducing moments.Defence, other than the two minute cat nap was superb again.Said last game Washington will get 20 this year, dont think he is going to be far away.Thought Chucks should have got 30 minutes as Bogle had run himself into the ground, how this man deserves a goal.
  • Fleetwood will feel a bit aggrieved at that but they conceded three so who cares. Both sides will be in the mix come the reckoning. Still think there is more to come and I’m wondering exactly what is our best eleven.

Good to get the albatross of not conceding out the way, and we looked solid from then on!

Really feel for Bogle. He just hasn’t been getting the luck and it’s not dropping for him! Hopefully he is keeping his head up as he holds the ball up so well- a really Paul Hayes type player for us!

Why? We could have been 4 up in the opening 30. It was our own misgivings that we weren't rather than their defensive display.

Sorry that was a poor performance from the team, to give them 60% possession is a worry. May be we are too easily bullied.
I can only presume this is a joke.

    6 in row.

If Sunderland score another we are 2nd.
  • Notice you've deleted the crime @aliwibble, you wont be able to erase it from our memories though

2/10 on the marks for you tonight I'm afraid!!

that's about as good a 3rd tier game as you're going to see, both teams played some good stuff but take out the 2 minutes of madness and we were comfortable enough overall. all the lads did great
Agreed. There was a thread moaning about the poor quality of football in this division, but that was a really good match

Tonight we showed we do have goals in us. We linked quickly and opened them up and could've had a lot more on another day.

Washington makes a lot of intelligent runs and his goals are well earned. Joint 4th top scorer in the league.

LB started the game with the right shape, big credit to him, and Maatsen in the advanced role caused them endless problems.

And we're STILL not at full strength. Still playing with full backs at centre back. Still missing Maddison. Still have unfit players knackered after 75 mins. What a start!

One of the best things about that win, was how intelligent we were in the final 5 mins. Buying fouls, holding play up, picking the right balls. This is very exciting.
