What a great night.......6-0 away from home, everyone played their part and it was an excellent team performance. Its all back in our hands now, play off place is ours to take, other results went our way, now is the time to be as positive as possible and lets see if Wembley can call us again!!! great night and goodnight!!
  • Glad to say on the pre match thread I predicted exactly this score.

If Adkins can get the best out of Gilbey, then he's effectively already made his first signing as Charlton boss.
    Jaiyesimi as well

Just been on the Sunderland fans forum - all sound very p***ed off with their manager.

Was a big opportunity for them tonight - Peterborough lost and Sunderland were leading vs Hull. Could've put them back in the automatic race. They've probably fucked it now though.

     B E A utiful.
  • Our press was unbelievable tonight. No team can play against constant team press that intense. Unreal performance all round.

  • What a great result, all credit to Nigel and the boys for this run!

As we all said in the dying days of the Bowyer regime the biggest issue we had was the goals we were conceding, it is impossible to succeed when shipping two goals per game.

Since Adkins came in we conceded two at Wimbledon in his first game but only one goal in the four games since then - and that a late consolation for the Mackems.

If you concede first then your task gets so much harder and we have finally stopped doing that.

I've felt all along 75 points will be enough - three wins from 5 would get us there. 73 could well be enough, still, in which case all we need is 2 wins and a draw, but 75 would be more comfortable - Pompey would need to win all 4 of their games to top 75 and they are just not in that kind of form. The nice thing is, we probably do not need to beat either Posh or Lincoln now, but I suspect we will take points from at least one of them.

Settling for a point on Saturday vs Ipswich now fully vindicated in the light of tonight's results.

Why don't we just give up and let the season finish now? Can we all be a bit positive about our team and players and drive for promotion together?

Pearce is still keeping his spot for me, was very good tonight. As was DJ and Millar so I don't envy Adkins picking a side.

Did we really only get one foul committed on us in 90+ mins? That must be very rare.

Our goal difference now the same as Pompey's, which could yet make the difference too.

Flippin’ delighted, particularly as the knives were starting to be sharpened for Adkins. ‘Professor Positive’ has turned out to be... positive :-)

Still improvements required. We started horrendously slowly again. Should have scored 7 (Chuks!). And, er that’s about it.

We’re developing a cutting edge, and real solidity at the back, which augers well.

Credit to Sandgaard for paying for a hotel tonight and a proper recovery tomorrow - talking the talk and walking the walk.

Got a few players going noticeably better than a few weeks ago - Amos, Pearce, Gilbey, Jaiyesimi, dare I say Watson?

Curbs saying he likes Millar a lot is enough for me as well. He was my MOM tonight.

Hopefully Plymouth have the usual post-thrashing backlash in their next game - away at Oxford.
It's amazing what a defined shape and gameplan will do for even limited players...
  • Looking good for the playoffs now.  I thought there was no chance a few games ago. An incredible turnaround in form & performances that I couldn't see coming. Nigel Adkins has really got us ticking.

To be fair to Bowyer, he's overseen a similar turnaround at Birmingham.  It's a situation that has worked out really well for both clubs.

Absolutely buzzing. Looking forward to Saturday.
