At the risk of being accused of negativity, that was woeful.

Terrible long ball football very badly executed. Comprehensively outplayed by Oxford.

Our midfield was completely dominated which is what happened all of last season.

Steve Brown was laughing at how poor their RB was in the first half (due to injuries they had a midfielder playing there like smyth for us last season) yet we created nothing.

When it went to subs we bought on Davison and Claydon they bought on Taylor.  We miss Aneke massively.

Carlo “We didn't even huff and puff really, we didn't reach those heights”.

No goals in open play still. We got a penalty from a handball out of nothing and that's the only good chance we've had this season.

I've been optimistic with regards to the whole depth of our playing staff but I'm worried now. That was pretty bad.
    I’m not worried…. Yet!
Only the second game of the season, and there will be more incoming.

but what irks and worries me is the game plan (or lack of it).

Last season under Adkins we were solid both defensively and attacking- we don’t look either at the moment!

That was absolutely dreadful. DJ might as well have stayed at home - Clayden offered more than he did in his 10’mins on the pitch.  A CAM is meant to pull the stings and unlock defences, Morgan couldn’t unlock his own front door. Of course it’s a team performance and not just down to 2 players. Nobody stood out.

Gunter at LB is suicide, by the time he checks to his right foot, the opposition have re-grouped. They had a makeshift right back and we didn’t take advantage of that. All this knocking it up to Stockley doesn’t not work…he only has to nudge his marker and it’s a free kick. Our game plan today was so poor.

Wish I’d stuck to the cricket.
We have a limited plan A and no plan B.
Most concerning was we looked knackered throughout with about half an hour to go. No urgency, no energy.
Hate losing, let alone to Gobbo.

Not even a handball,so we got lucky to even get back into the game…

Terrible. The football is worse than last year. 3 games in and still no goals from open play.

Looking forward to hearing about the great pathway for the youngsters though!

A lucky penalty for us. Apart from that we didn’t test the goalie. Our midfield looks very weak. The balance of the whole team seems just wrong. Oxford far superior.
We never seemed to have control of the game. Not an entertaining game at all. Similar to last week really, but worse.
lots of work to do on this team.
  • Personally speaking, if, before the game, I thought we might need a goal or two with time running out, and provided Schwartz could move at all, I'd have had him on the bench - just to offer something different (including, hopefully, a goal scoring threat).

Vindicated with my decision after last Saturday to not waste my money by going.

Don't want to say "told you so" but I have been banging on for months about the lack of signings & the apparent keeness to rely on the U23's.

Currently the only difference up front from last season is Davison in for Aneke. That wont get you promoted.

In midfield we have brought in 2 average league1 players.

And we currently have no fit left back & have an aging right back covering that position.

    Only bright spark is Kirk.

Well we have exactly the same points and GD as the league champions Ipswich so that's a positive 😂 the negative bit is that we were so far from being near competitive. DJ not in the game at all. Defence for the 1st time looked shaky. Albie nowhere near good enough to be starting. Washington was the only other positive I could gleam from the game.

Hopefully we get Gilby back sooner rather than later

People blaming Morgan when he was the only one making anything happen. Dreadful set pieces though. He wasn't particularly brilliant or anything, but was the best of a poor midfield today.
Let's face it, we were outplayed by a tidy Oxford side.
Not good, not good at all.

    Shocking!
went from irrational and erratic play at times to plain complacency.

no midfield, which isn’t helped by Morgan trying to do everything- this is a make or break season for him and he shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11! Gilbey & JFC desperately missed!

nothing coming off from the bench, lack of Plan B is worrying - presumably with a few more bodies in that will change?

A Defence that was solid last week, looked mistake prone and all over the place- again not helped by Gunter out of position and then no shielding from the wingers!

Early days yet, and first 5-10 games of a season don’t matter as much, as still trying to get into the swing of things- but hard to see where we go from here!
Where does Kirk fit in? We don’t play along the floor, and midfield is so overrun and static that it doesn’t bare thinking about!

As others have/continue to say - need at least 5 more in!

Can’t see Kirk making much difference with the current quality of players he will be feeding.

No one in the centre of the park to get the game by the scruff of the neck, something we didn't have last season either.

Sorry but that was a performance that was devoid of any ideas.

Still need 5 in. Current squad is one dimensional mid table outfit.
And the 5 need to be quality. Not fillers to plug gaps.
  • Some of the worst football I've seen from us for  long time  . Long ball after Long ball . Embarrassing  .

I’ve heard Adkins likes to play nice stuff. We aren’t seeing that yet. A lot of route one being played.

Kirk won’t change this side. A LB that can attack and a CAM that can link play will. If I’m being picky we could really do with a deeper luring playmaker too (I think I’m still spoilt from Bielik)

Dissapointing but I’m hopeful we will be active now. Seasons aren’t decided this early, but a good start sure as hell helps.
  • If we're going to lose, it's the perfect way to lose. Look so utterly bereft of ideas that Sandgaard realises you can't patch it with a couple of last minute loan deals. I still think we need 6/7 players

    Same Shit different Day.
we need a good wing man which we may have?
we need a proper Striker and we need our owner to cut the Rock N Roll bullshit and spend some real money, otherwise we stay in this Shit league 1.👎

I’m usually the kind of supporter who says give it ten games before we judge but it’s plain to see that unless we bring in at least three or four more players with a bit of quality before the window shuts then we’ll be way off the pace come game ten and in all honesty that means a season we can write off. Which is a fucking miserable thought.

Glaringly obvious today they are badly needed, and they need to be first choices not squad fillers.

Turgid, desperately need more quality and as for the system the players are supposed to be comfortable with, buggered if I can see what is. More possession ten attempts and only three on target. A few players totally ineffective and mistakes by the keeper and Innis teeing up the oppos goals. Only four shots on target in the two league games and no goals from open play. Adkins needs cut out the happy clappy claptrap and get a reaction from his players on Tuesday  Bad day at the office 😞

I really don't like that Albie is becoming the scapegoat already. He's the only player not lumping it forward when he gets the ball. Always looks up and tries to get forward.
He doesn't hide but the 10 shirt has come too early for him imo.

I never thought I would see someone with a worse not than sponge boy church.
    Step forward Morgan.
    Fucking atrocious.

Yep, all a bit predictable and not a lot of positives. Not very encouraging. Hope Kirk comes in and settles quickly. It felt a bit flat. Nothing on the bench to inspire. Hoping additional players come in are better than what we have got. Tough league this one and at the moment can't see us challenging with this squad. I know this is a bit negative but the performances so far have been poor.

Despite the terrible performance, the worst thing today was Sandgaard's pre match interview. He stressed the need to build slowly and said we would only be getting a 'handful' more players and they would be loans at the end of the window.
If he had then said 'we will settle for mid table' at least the strategy would make sense.
