Post-match Thread: Charlton v Wigan — 21/8/2021

Two teams in a cagey affair largely canceling each other out for three quarters of the match. Wigan had the better of the chances early on, but failed to capitalise with more than one great save from MacGillevary.

Wigan were able to run out to a two goal victory after bringing on a higher quality of fresh legs. They got better with their subs. We’re not good enough and, despite what the usual suspects will say, everyone can see that. Trust that the recruitment team is working hard to address the obvious weaknesses. 

I suggest you go out for a bit of fresh air this evening, rather than stew on things behind the keyboard.

    We were in the ascendancy second half and then Adkins switches to 442 and we lose control of the midfield and the game. 

    These players were shit last year and they're even shitter this year. 

    Patience has worn short. We are miles away from being anywhere near decent.

    Covered end wasn't wrong. We're fucking shit. Never really looked like scoring, don't remember Amos make a single save.

    On that note, quality in difference. Amos was quality for them today.

    We are fucking rubbish, it's as simple as that. Whether it's Adkins', roddys, Gallens or Sandgaards fault, we are genuinely dogshit and we'll be lucky to actually stay midtable

    Albie Morgan isn't a no 10. The alarm bells were ringing for me when he got the no 10 shirt. He isn't ready. 

    As for the game. Crap just like all our games so predictable and dull.

    We never really looked like scoring. We don’t have that player, anywhere through the outfield, that there’s real confidence they can turn a game or make a real impact. It’s all hope.

    Cue Adkins ' we had a good 20m' 'unnecessary goal' ' honest players'.
    Our midfield is not good enough undividually or as a unit. We have no natural goalscorer and our defence is shaky.
    Still a 'handful' of loans should sort all that out

    We were not terrible but toothless. If you lose 25-30 goals from the team, you have to put them back in. It is chapter one in Tactics for dummies but seems lost on us for whatever reason.

    The fans have been saying for weeks that this squad isn’t good enough and it was proven again today . 

    2-0 Flattered Wigan ( or did it?) 

    positives were Kirk and Dobson .

    Negatives . Full backs are not good enough .
    Morgan is a headless chicken .
    Playing Stockley up front on his own is not working despite him working his socks off .

    I dread the stick that TS is going to get but as I said , the fans have been telling him for weeks .
