Not good enough, end of. Releasing Shinnie is looking more and more silly.
  • On the bright side, if we get drawn against a pub team in the FA Cup we might get to see a replay with those tactics and level of commitment
  • We were not terrible but toothless. If you lose 25-30 goals from the team, you have to put them back in. It is chapter one in Tactics for dummies but seems lost on us for whatever reason.
Nope, we were terrible. We didn’t create a decent chance
  • ''I’m sorry but anyone blaming this on Adkins is deluded''
This was a quote from the match thread!

You cannot be serious his fault as much as anyone's.
    Dreadful tactics, dreadful subs.
Our best managers since the war probably Curbs, Chris Powell and Bowyer,
    and Lenny!
  • I’m mr positive. Fuck off adkins and your shitty walks. 4 defeats in 5. Time to go
Can't really blame Adkins that much, i think Guardiola would struggle to get much out of this team.
  • On the plus side, Watson is up to speed for a full game.

    Oh
Watson was one of the better ones today. What did he do wrong?

The last 4 are possibly the worst sequence of Charlton games I've ever seen as a fan. We've had like 5-6 shots on target across all if them. Utter utter dogshit.
  • For me our biggest issue is the middle of the park. If that's not addressed by the end of the transfer window we are fudged.

Yeah we have had a reasonably difficult start to the season - but the results and performances so far have been very worrying.

TS was meant to be our saviour.

After all the crap with Roland, we said we have our club back.

New owner, experienced manager, a structure, a plan and all that.

The missing piece is we have no TEAM.

Its 50% weaker than last year and 200% worse than the year before.

    Albie a No. 10??? - do me a favour
    Gunter at LB??
    Watson anywhere near the team???

One dimensional pattern with all the pressure on Stockley.

The club has accepted this position and some fans may even accept.

I will always be a supporter, but I will not go to any games again until I can see some proper investment in a TEAM.

Kirk must be thinking "what the F**K have I done"?

Roland pissed us all off, but this is no better. Sorry to be so blunt, but I saw this coming weeks ago.

The worst Charlton side I have seen in my 30 years. Clueless players, clueless management . Happily never see Morgan play for us ever again. Love to know how Gunter has over 100 caps for his country. So much shit to pick out of that. Hate the lot of them

I wonder what we spent on Clare and Dobson?

For their wages you could probably have gotten a very decent L1 CM.

Were using Morgan in the hope we can save ourselves a few quid.

    Gunter at LB, enough said.

Steve Gallen has made a few mistakes in his time here, but not this many in one window. It stinks of a certain unnamed bald figure doing a totally useless job.

Even though TS cares, he’s massively fucked up with the way he’s running this club.
  • No goal threat. Curbs right -  if you're no 10 you should be scoring or making a goal.
Tactics,  plan & identity not there from coaches or players

We could have been playing until midnight and not had a sniff of a goal. Devoid of attacking threat yet again. Final ball abysmal. Even Stockley was in Whatmough’s pocket the whole game.
MacGillviray has come in for a lot of stick, some of which has been deserved, but he made some tremendous saves today. Without him, we would have lost by 4 or 5. Just shows it isn’t all black or white.
We all know the squad rebuild has been disappointing and we can but hope that reinforcements arrive in the next few days and, crucially, that they are of the calibre needed to positively influence games.
I’m sure that Adkins is a good manager and I’m equally sure that we will eventually improve both our performances and results. The trouble is that this might well come when we are already hugely behind the pack competing near the top of the division.
  • I have never experienced such utter dross. First followed Charlton back in 1966. Believe this is, league-wise, the lowest the club have ever sunk. Seems any clown or spiv is OK to run a football club nowadays. Seems any "has been" can still find a place in football management. Love the 21st century and  its values?

Wright, Curtis, Kinsey, Campbell, Went, Reeves, Gregory, Tracey, Tees, Moore, Peacock

All put in an honest stint. Perhaps not "World Class" footballers, but all "Real" footballers, playing under "Real" managers, with the club in "local" ownership. Charlton had a chance..........

Meanwhile Ethels (EFLs) love child sits smugly on top of the division, by design. Football, the beautiful game.........

  • Are we allowed to criticise yet?

It doesn't matter how 'stable' we are if we're going down to League Two anyway.
There's a lot to be said for stability, just as long as we don't sink to the bottom to achieve it, I mean the Titanic has been really stable since 1912...

Is there honestly any chance that we can strengthen this squad enough, with the time left in the transfer window, and whatever loans can be negotiated?

    We are not very good.

We can't play 433 with the midfield and full backs we currently have in the squad.

Adkins needs to have a rethink.

Expansive flowing football is great if you have the players to do so, but we just don't have the quality.

Famewo, Stockley and Kirk played well. Keeper was better this game.

    The rest, blah

Best we can hope for at the moment is to play 442.

Won't struggle to stay up but I do have to admit we need more going forward.
I do however think that 2-0 was generous to a bang average Wigan side but maybe that shows where we are!

People blaming Adkins are mad, it’s TS who has the cheque book and he’s given us a budget that gets us Dobson and Clare. Can’t describe how pissed off I am.

Disaster of a start. But wanting the manager to go after 4 league games and 1 in the cup is ridiculous.

It’s possible Adkins may take matters into his own hands and walk. He’s been done up like a kipper with the absolute abysmal nature of our recruitment. No way would he have taken the job if he knew that he’d have these tools to play with.

    Didn’t play that badly but:
Wigan have players like McLean on the bench. We don’t.
We don’t have midfielders who can player killer passes.
Our defensive players tired in last twenty minutes.
Morgan doesn’t have enough quality to be a key player for us. Nothing wrong with his effort, but dead ball delivery is lacking.
Refs seem to hate Stockley for some reason. Gets nothing. He didn’t really affect the game today.

    Positives:
    The window is still open.
    Matthews was ok today.
    Watson better than many expected.
    Dobson was better.

    Thomas just tweeted this:
Another disappointing loss in a very even game. Time to turn this around. The team needs our support. #cafc

Team needs strengthening, as well as support.
