One of them ought to be occupying the space Morgan is/was and let him play higher. He is basically being asked to do too much and it isn't a given he can play the role with more help. He isn't to blame for not being the finished article.0

Sage said:The other week I said we needed 8 players of a certain quality to just be competitive near the higher end of the league.
We signed Kirk of that quality.
We now need 7 more.
It ain’t happening, and neither is being competitive this season.
We are so crap it’s hard to even explain.
Something has gone very wrong somewhere and whoever is responsible for that has to go. That’s where I am at right now.1 -

MuttleyCAFC said:It isn't just about spending money. Duchatelet would have done a lot better giving Powell half the money he spent and let him get on with it. He was a clueless owner that thought he knew it.
If you are going to do what Brentford have done, you have to get the right players and they have to earn their place in the team. You just don't put them in because they are young and have potential. It may not be Sandgaard's plan, he may simply have money problems, but you maintain the strength of the squad at least as a starting point and the young players earn their places.0 -

I think the real problem is that we do not have an experienced football man running the business.
The owner needs to appoint a good CEO to run the whole club, he can not possibly do it from the USA.
The club is a shambles both on and off the pitch. We are rudderless, nobody seems to be in charge many chiefs and not enough Indians, all building their own mini empires.
The sooner this happens the better but sadly I don’t think TS can see the wood from the trees and the people he has put his trust in are simply not good enough.18 -

Instead of him we’ve got headless chickens in midfield who can run all day and night, but haven’t got a clue with the ball at their feet. Also when I said ts has got to get his wallet out and buy in pre season less bombarded with comments like , I like the way people spend other people’s money and other dickhead comments like that.
2) to save on the wage bill
I have to imagine they have been targeting a new attacking midfielder to come in, surely no one thought Morgan would suddenly be able to turn into one overnight, if they did then a serious question needs to be asked.0 -
I was resigned to missing next week’s Kerry v Tyrone game in the All Ireland Football.
Think I’ll go to the pub and watch that now.2 -

What exactly has Adkins been doing since the MK game? That Wigan goal is identical. No excuse for that.3

I have worked for some great leaders in my time and their number one similarity was that they appointed good people into a proper structure and trusted them to do their jobs.
Funnily enough, I am working on a short term contract right now where the MD positions himself as the “Celebrity CEO” and micro manages everything and, as a result, the place is a fucking shambles and there are people getting paid $200,000 to delegate everything back to him.
Sandgaard has zero experience in football, none, nada, rien, zilch, fuck all - so how can he expect to run the club?
If I bought a a vineyard tomorrow I wouldn’t appoint myself as CEO, no matter how much I may want to, because I know nothing about the wine industry in the same way Sandgaard knows nothing about the football industry.8 -

Complaining that players are devoid of confidence after booing them 3 games in seems rather senseless. And before anyone says anything, I was at MK.4

I think I've worked out the difference between Morgan raising one or both arms at corners.
One arm means he'll get it one foot off the ground.
Two arms means he'll get it two feet off the ground.17 -

Could he afford a decent CEO now?
Think he's blown his budget on Roddy and Mumford.2 -

Was a dire game, no system of playing. When the highlight is the new keeper restricting them to just the two goals you know you’re in trouble.Although, the booing and jeering of Adkins personally I think is ridiculous. Our recruitment has been woefully short this summer, and after yet another owner coming in and promising the world, we should be directing the boos towards the directors box.0

Too much money spent on vanity projects which could have been spent on our bread and butter.
Concentrate on the job in hand instead of side projects that can wait for another time and day

I actually felt sorry for the players. I sit right at the front of the covered end lower and they looked genuinely hurt by it and like lambs to the slaughter.
Thing is I don't think it's a bunch of players coasting along - in fact the opposite...they are absolutely trying their best it's just individually (for many) and collectively their best isn't good enough. Players like Stockley who don't stop putting their body on the line at both ends of the pitch must wonder what they're doing and what they have signed up for.
They don't strike me as a bunch of hard nut ...let's show these wanker fans and up our game but rather they will go further into their shells and lack confidence which will be a recipe for disaster.
Can't believe how early in a season a fanbase has turned on its players but it is symptomatic of the frustration and disbelief of the bullshit hype that was stirred up and a new dawn that sees an owner strutting around on the pitch to his new song whilst the squad resource appears to have been entirely neglected.
No one really believed the hyperbole of premier league in 5 years but at the same time the impression was given that we would be a competitive prospect and moving forwards football wise....not a backwards step and at best a ill thought out recruitment strategy or at worst complete incompetence/ neglectful squad building.
So whilst I didn't boo and hated seeing it and the reaction in the young players' faces I can understand why it happened.
Atmosphere felt toxic at the end of the game and it will take more than a tweet from TS asking fans to get behind the team to remedy it unfortunately.

4 games in and I’m hoping my dog eats my season ticket so I don’t have to watch this dross again. Just need to buy a dog now.18

billysboots said:My observations from the ground were that we didn’t appear to have any movement in the team. When we had the ball at the back there was no-one showing for the ball and moving their markers out of position. So we went side to side and invariably failed to retain the ball or hoofed it long.Throw ins were like musical statues. We badly miss a player to keep the midfield ticking . Picking the ball up from the back for , playing one two’s - just being in the right place at the right time. Our Full backs today hardly got into the oppo half.We have no pace across the side.Positives - Kirk looked dangerous . Stockley tried hard but has no gas , keeper made 4 really good saves. All is not lost , but something is definitely wrong behind the scenes.Gallen and Bowyer had a succession of decent signings with a small budget from RD, so what is so different now ? Ok they also had some ropey ones as well, but we haven’t seen players if the Calibre of Cullen , Gallagher , Bilik etc
Perhaps players would to move to play under Bowyer but maybe not Adkins ?Did TS a think that he would retain last years players when he made his upbeat comments about promotion ?I don’t know what’s up , but something isn’t right.1 -
DamoNorthStand said:mogodon said:Just out of interest, how many players short do people think we are of being a decent side for this division
2) Matthews or Gunter
3) NEW
4) NEW DCM
5) Inniss
6) Famewo (but need another option to keep them on their toes)
7) NEW CM
8) NEW ACM
9) Kirk
10) Stockley
11) NEW WINGER
5 starters plus two or three strong options to push them from the bench.
Clare and Dobson should be squad players along with Watson. Don’t know enough on CBT but will continue to assume a squad option.2
