People blaming Adkins are mad, it’s TS who has the cheque book and he’s given us a budget that gets us Dobson and Clare. Can’t describe how pissed off I am.
TS has given us a bigger budget than most teams. Very few have spent as much money as us. Stockley £750k (outbidding Portsmouth) £500k on Kirk and others. As for Dobson and Clare, I'm not sure who signed them but in case you didn't notice Clare didn't play today! Tactics were dreadful. That was our biggest downfall
You keep spouting there figures. And then are wrong.
Firstly, the transfers are usually "undisclosed" so you have no more knowledge then anyone else. I believe the figures knocking about for Stockley was less than £500k....£400k I remember being quoted on here over the summer. Kirk we believe had a release clause of £500k.....but againt hat has never been stated publicly. Clare from Oxford was in the region of £100k if Robinson can be believed.....and I think Dobson was released from his contract.
So I reckon £1m is about the right figure.
Another £1m on signing on fees, agent fees and wages
After the game Minto passed on the view of Curbs and co, to Adkins, that we need a number 10 to which Adkins said we have Morgan, which is either the lament of a stooge for the owner that just does as he's told, or a deluded soul that invites the chant " You don't know what you're doing!" I for one did not think that Adkins would do anyone's bidding and would be independent of mind to insist on the necessary resources. I'm beginning to wonder whether, if there isn't significant activity in the rest of the transfer window, he might just think fuck it and walk.
As an aside I'm also wondering whether TS was really hoping/expecting to join forces with a partner investor, to share the financial burden and that for whatever reason, this hasn't developed as planned, thus the budget has been reduced accordingly.

I don't have inside information, but this is a scenario that would make sense.
Up until now, to an extent, we can use the "playing decent sides excuse" as we've playing sides that I expect to be challenging for the top 6. Next Saturday we're playing another side who've started the season badly, and one with far smaller resources than us
We HAVE to win, and just as importantly, have to look convincing. We need to look like promotion contenders
I can only pray that TS/GR and SG have 4-5 Kirk level ace signings up their sleeves before the window shuts. If not and any of them think what they have invested in thus far is top half finish material, I am afraid they are totally deluded.
The set up is fine and works for lots of teams, but NA is being asked to cut a steak with a butter knife at the moment and that is simply not good enough for him nor us fans.
The Crewe game will be interesting in terms of signings prior to, player reaction and performance against a side we should be beating if we stand any chance of making any impression and progress this season.

We're sleep walking into a relegation battle if we're not looking for a creative midfielder.
We went for the three points at the death and it probably cost us one. I don't think one would have been a massive help and it was understandable. It didn't work, but it was understandable.
Did we really? I thought once again they controlled the last 20 like Oxford did and like MK Dons did.
We haven’t got the fitness at the end of games
I guess Muttley means the subs that were put on for CAFC were intended to make us more attacking and hence more likely to score a goal. Unfortunately the ragged passing by us and superior team work by Wigan meant it was just on plate for the visitors.
I'm still trying to get home! Stopped at services for something to eat....and I'm still bloody fuming at that display...not read this thread since I posted from outside the ground, but will no doubt when I get home in about another 45 mins!!! I'm fucked off... The end!
Got a season ticket on the back of false promises and stupid optimism. Now I'm totally demoralised and have no desire to go again this season. Crap journey, £4.50 for a crap pie, a truely useless team who created nothing, and couldn't even be professional to see it out for a draw. Saw 6 minutes extra time, and knew even if it was sixty we wouldn't score, never seen such a piss-poor team in all my years at Charlton, and boy, have I seen some piss-poor teams in that time. And the worse thing- really cant see it getting better.
Back home & read most of the posts on here. If I really wanted to say what I think my post would remember one of Viewfinders finest. However, I'll try to keep it succinct but might ramble away at times......
MOTM MacGillivray by a county mile. Kept us in it & made 3 great saves on the first half. Added to the fact they hit the bar in the first half 5 or 6 nil wouldn't have flattered them.
Only Kirk looks any good from the new players we've brought in. Dobson is not good enough if you are looking for promotion. Dobson & Watson is worse than Pratley & Watson.....and I didn't think I'd be saying that this season.
We still have no creativity in midfield. No Parker or Shelvey. No Kinsella or Stuart. No one to pick a pass. I thought it might be Morgan's time but sadly it's not. Might be out of position & better a bit further back but still a lot of running around with no end product.
Never liked 1 up front. Especially if the players around him are not picking up the loose balls or knock downs.
Been saying all summer we need a small pacey striker. Should have prioritised a 20 goal a season machine - doubly so when Aneke left. We are so poor up front its unreal. I dont care what the BBC stats say, I dont think we had a shot on target (unless is was down the JS end). In comparison theh scorelld 2, hit the bar & MacG saved at least 3 more.
The fact we still have no left back is criminal. Gunter is ok there but has no attacking threat. Has to turn back & cross with his right......which slows everything down.
No idea what the next 10 days will bring but I can bet you the 3 or 4 loans will not be good enough to get us top 6 this season. What am I saying.....we need players to get us up the table & secure first. Dont think we will go down but bottom half will be about our level.
I don't want to gloat but I've been saying all summer the transfer policy was "off" and I kept on being told to wait until Aug 31st. Hope you're all pleased with yourselves and as walking is brilliant I'm going to copy Mr Positive from now on because he must be right & I must be wrong. At least Wigan knew that getting players in before August was the better ploy.
Finally.......
I dont think I will be going next Saturday. I'm having eye surgery on thursday and so will have to recovering at home. Shame as it's going to be a relegation scrap between 2 non scoring sides. 3 goals between us in 8 games. What fun that is going to be.

Yes, it was a poor odds gamble but with only one point to lose and the hope that if it didn't work, there wasn't a lot of time left.
Adkins proved last season he still is a very capable manager. He had been completely had over by whoever has left him with a shell of a team to work with. The more this all unravels the more it becomes clear Roddy is at fault
To be fair to Morgan, we were at home and you should have one holding midfielder and two attacking ones playing our formation. One of them ought to be occupying the space Morgan is/was and let him play higher. He is basically being asked to do too much and it isn't a given he can play the role with more help. He isn't to blame for not being the finished article.
He isn’t good enough full stop. We also shouldn’t be hoping he learns on the job after lots of failed chances to impress, particularly in a team hoping for promotion. He wouldn’t be even close to 1st team football in any other promotion chasing side, and yet we seem to be pinning our hopes on him.( not me I may add, never have and never will). I sadly no longer hang on to the hope he proves me wrong as I don’t see it happening.😬
I agree with some of the last part but he is 21 and could still come good. We are all frustrated as he should be on the bench at the moment, not our playmaker.

Not all of us disagreed with you, but well done for sticking your head above the parapet and calling it how you saw it.
My pre-season optimism for us to be in the mix for automatic promotion has been replaced by deflating realism that we simply don't look anywhere even remotely near that. I wasn't expecting anything but a scrappy, tight game today, but it's a real kick in the nuts to capitulate in such a way to lose 0-2. Wigan created more chances and looked better in the first half, and honestly, on balance, they'd be disappointed to only come away with a point. We should have been able to hold on to the point, but I think be barely deserved it and didn't look even close to nicking it.
We're playing some really dire football right now and, quite rightly, a lot of the ire is directed at the midfield. Apart from a small number of games, Watson does look like he's stealing a living - he's slow, passive and ineffective. He doesn't care at all imho, and shouldn't be anywhere near the squad outside of an emergency. JJ would do a better job. Dobson does get stuck in to try and break down play, but in possession of the ball, he's pretty limited. Clare has looked inconsistent and lacking the quality distributing the ball as well. I've had a lot of patience with Morgan in the past, but the start of this season was his chance to show his quality and being the player we want him to be - he simply hasn't shown that quality and looks out of his depth in the middle of the park. All 4 of them have regularly looked guilty of not being available for passes from our CBs and not driving the play forward. Our natural wingers are starved of the ball because there isn't the desire nor composure from any of these players to take control of the games.
Gilbey is being somewhat touted as a player to solve this issue, but I'm not sure he's going to being to make the impact we want. If we are missing anyone, it's JFC. He's the closest to quality we have on the books, but it's going to be a long time before he is back. The best choice for now is probably Dobson plus A.N.Other to come in on loan or, preferrably, on a permanent that is box-to-box, can carry the ball and draw players in to make space for Kirk/DJ (who both offer our best threat going forward). Clare and Morgan should be squad players, whilst Watson can disappear as far as I am concerned.
Ultimately, our forward threats are all nullified by the lack of a midfield to link play - we'd look weak right now even if we had the forward line of PSG, because they simply don't get the ball. We're very predictable to play against due to a complete lack of dynamism in midfield. We create nothing because of them. I think more offensive full backs would help, but the lack of a Cullen/Bielik/Gallagher/<insert midfielder of even moderate quality> is killing us. If we don't bring one in, a top half finish looks like a pipe dream.
I've not seen a Charlton midfield look so toothless for a long time. It's putting more pressure on our defence and starving our forward players. I don't expect us our fortunes to change any time soon without some quality added in the middle of the park.
When we appointed Nigel Adkins I had a very big disagreement on here with a number of people about the merits of that appointment, I didn’t think he was the right man.
However, his success at the end of last season showed he is still a decent manager but he can’t work ******* miracles.
The squad is an absolute shambles, perhaps the worst we have had since Parky’s second season when we had Akpo Sodje and Co. milling about.
Bottom line, what on earth did the “Rockstar Owner” buy this club for?
What is the point of losing £10 million per season in League One?
Is this some sort of ego trip for him to own a football club?

1. Brace for Bonne..again 2.. "Run out of ideas" Bowyer just won 5-0 away in the championship. 3. Aneke scored. 4. Bauer scored. 5. Clean sheet for Amos. 6. Doughty can't even get a start at Stoke. 7. Taylor has scored something like 5 in 45 at Forest.
How different things could have been.
EXACTLY - a combination of stupid owners and poor managers over many years has led us to where we are now.
All those you mention above plus Gomez, Konsa, Lookman Shelvey, Pope, Gudmonssen - the list can go on and on.
Sell all your young talent, flog off your experienced talent, keep changing managers, useless owners and endless poor management is what leads to a club like ours at the bottom of the 3rd tier with a terrible squad.
TS is clueless and he will preside over our relegation to the 4th tier, which is what this team will deliver.
Adkins? He will walk, if not be sacked if this goes on for a few more weeks.
You will see a few more crap loan signings between now and the end of the window, but those who run the club lost it in the summer - they had a chance ro rebuild the team and they either chose not to, or could not afford to.

Just had a nibble on us at 33s to win the league.

Shocking in every sense
