Hylton got minutes (4 goals in 17 apps) for Luton who finished in the Championship play-offs. Marquis barely made an impact at Lincoln.0 -

We need a lot of quality. We need a forward better than both Aneke and Stockley, and I appreciate Stockley may not be here at the start of the season.
I think we’ve got a crowded midfield but Dobson, Fraser and CBT have the potential to deliver. Kirk is a mystery given the circumstances of last season and how it didn’t work. I don’t know if there is a role for him. I’m not a JFC fan but I appreciate I am in the minority.
DJ and Gilbey are mediocre players that I’ll be happy to see a lot less of if possible next season.Defence is threadbare. Can Clare operate in a 2 man centre back partnership? I’m still scratching my head at Inniss but I presume he’s cover only. We don’t have a right back and Purrington is unknown as to whether he’s staying and to be honest, I think we could do/need better.
Even Mac in goal isn’t someone I would lose sleep over if he left.I think we need a LB, RB, CB and Forward, possibly 2 at a minimum, and I still wouldn’t be that confident6 -

12 League goals since 18/19 I doubt any of those clubs are interested. Thats some really poor agent work right there, I mean come on, make it slightly realistic!Martin’s football analytics toolName: Danny HyltonPlayer type: nuisance
Position: striker
High press ✅ (if legs haven’t gone)
Goalscorer ❌
Decision: shortlist as 10th choice, sign on deadline day if all other targets missed0 -

He must be picking up practical knowhow and experience while working on the job.

Or his role changed and he has less influence than he did.
Or Gallen is telling porkies.
What's happened has happened. What's going to happen next is the important bit.
If lessons have been learnt, improvements made that's fine. If they haven't well who knows. Only time will tell.4 - Sponsored links:

The identifying of players is a small part of the job anyway, with the majority of the work concentrating on players fitness. They don’t wear those bras for fun!He is working alongside SG which must be a fantastic experience and a great education. He did of course also play football at a better level than most, so it’s not like he has never watched a game.
But he also has a role representing and reporting to his dad and this role within the Club that allows him to do that.
Martin could be our owner at some point, and there must be a fair chance that he will be our CEO. Best he learns by doing these jobs IMO. It is what I would do if it was my son.8 -
Has your son got a hard shot though?1

Has anyone ever said Martin is involved in performance analysis?
Which is a completely different job.0 -

He is not a data expert. As I have said many times this is not a personal slant - he could be a lovely guy for all I know. But a CV is a factual record of your career. He has jumped around his dads business but isn't a data expert.7 -

He has jumped around his dads business but isn't a data expert.People who run things employ people and companies like yours to provide the data. You sound like you provide a fantastic service and no doubt present the information that the decision makers need and in a format that even an idiot could understand; and if they needed more information you could quickly drill down and retrieve it.
I had data and exception reports presented to me daily by one of the teams I managed. I did not need to know how they got it, but I did know if it was not giving me the information that I needed, and in a format that suited me, so I could make informed decisions. It is why I know you can deliver information that even an idiot will understand it!Good luck with your business, it sounds exciting.0 -

I see Gallen and Garner as the decision makers. The role of data simply needs to guide them to maybe 4 or 5 optimised choices. That their human element then works on.
Problem is that the data could be dangerous if it doesn’t provide them with then right 4 options.
I am fascinated with sports performance data but I worry it can’t take into account aspects such as mental fortitude, character etc. I also sit on the board of a business that measure injury risk in professional sport and that was a model that took a lot of people much cleverer than me nearly three years to build.
Its nice TS giving his son a job to learn from but it could cause some serious issues if it’s not done properly.0
