8th July. Next in was Lee on 26th August.Cafc43v3r said:
Bolton have already signed one on loan. The ones on the fringes of squads or who will play in the early rounds of the league Cup will move later.MarcusH26 said:I'd expect most loans to be later in the window even for U23s , clubs will want them in for a chunk of preseason first before making decisions. Hopefully we don't leave it right to deadline day though on that front.
LCB and left back next on the list for me please , wouldn't be surprised if the left back is one of the loanees though.
What date did we sign Famewo last year?1 -

What if it was the black magic box that produced the name Jonny Williams as the perfect midfield solution to all our problems?
After all he is ex-Charlton, currently Swindon, known to Garner AND he's injury prone - so he ticks all the boxes or lights up all the LEDs or sets off all the whistles or whatever else a black box does when it comes up with a load of old bollocks.5 -
He failed the height test 😎ShootersHillGuru said:

I totally agree with you on that. I think ball playing attractive football is harder to pull off. Great if we do of course but I want to win and how we do it matters less. Let's hope we do pull it off and have an entertaining but above all a successful season.alburyaddick said:I think we have had far more success with young Premier League loan players, like Millar, Maatsen, Da Silva, Cullen, Bielik and Gallagher than dropping down Champ players. Obviously, you get the odd lemon like Dylan Levitt, Nile John etc but generally they have more to prove that they can make it in mens football. I also like raiding lower level teams for their best players, Danny Hollands, Rhys Wiggins, Dale Stephens all come to mind. Therefore I am supportive of the current player acquisition strategy although a little nervous about the ball playing, attractive football nonsense.
I think those who drop from the Championship like Matthews, Gunter, Watson , Arter and Famewo are always a bit disappointed at the level they are playing at and don't perform so well.
Sorba Thomas has shown brilliantly this year that you can move from lower leagues to the Championship. Below the Premier League, I dont honestly think that the gulf in quality is that big.
If I look back further into our history, Lennie got us promoted by pinching Steve Thompson and George Shipley from division below Lincoln and John Pender and John Humphrey from relegated Wolves.
Time will tell, but nothing on player recruitment so far to be disappointed about.2 -

No it shouldn't be honoured. The guy is on a lot of money, to allow him to play just 30 minutes because he's more comfortable doing so is total madness.Leuth said:It probably is ultimately about injuries - I wouldn't be surprised if Chuks has serious mental issues concerning his fitness that have given him a genuine phobia of starting games. If he's more comfortable doing 30 minutes, let him - he's good enough that this should be honoured7 -

Mazeed Ogungbo, 19, is available for loan from Arsenal.
Regular for the U23’s, can play left-back, left-wing-back, or centre-back.
Would be his first loan though.

If it's how he's most effective then I'm ok with it. If we get 60 mins out of Stockley battering away at the opposition defence and then Chuks comes on fresh with 30 minutes left and just terrorises them and gets goals then it's an effective strategy. If he's also happy to be an impact sub then you get the added bonus of him not complaining about mainly being used from the bench even though that's the best way to use him. The trick is keeping everyone fit enough to use that strategyJ BLOCK said:

Might be interesting to see what Ben Garner makes of Chuks inability to play 90 mins. Perhaps the revamped medical team and a newer perspective by the coaching staff might make a difference to him.0

As I mentioned on 2 nd May, Massimo Luongo is now available, wants to be back in London1

Quite similar to what he experienced with Williams. He played plenty of games for Swindon but believe he rarely played 90 minutes. Used him off the bench too, clearly they managed his minutes well.ShootersHillGuru said:Might be interesting to see what Ben Garner makes of Chuks inability to play 90 mins. Depends if he can get Championship. I'd imagine he'd be a good signing for Millwall, Luton or QPR being in his peak and a very solid player. If Champ teams aren't interested and location is the reason, I reckon we'd be the only choice really.Delfin said:As I mentioned on 2 nd May, Massimo Luongo is now available, wants to be back in London2 -
So Garner is not content with taking Swindon's current players and staff, now he might be looking at their old players too!Delfin said:As I mentioned on 2 nd May, Massimo Luongo is now available, wants to be back in London3 -
He's injured more than he plays, so would fit in.Delfin said:As I mentioned on 2 nd May, Massimo Luongo is now available, wants to be back in London0 -
Not sure that's fair, played a high number of matches between 2013 and 2019. Only concern was 20/21 but players get injured, that's football.Charlton_Stu said:

Problem is, and always has been, it's difficult to manage someone's minutes when they end up being the only person who can play in that position due to suspensions and other injuries.Scoham said:

Top 10 performers in League 2 by average rating for last season. I wonder how many we're looking at.

McLaughlin had an incredible season but is 32 and would command a fee, would be a good signing if we already had an established team and were looking to just strengthen for promotion but we need to be looking at next season as wellcharlton_hero said:Top 10 performers in League 2 by average rating for last season. Louis Reed we are looking at and I think will sign
Evans is being linked to the championship, doubt he’s on our radar
McKirdy I imagine is a target, just whether Swindon will want to sell to us and if he’s in the budget
Adams has gone to Cardiff, tidy player
Cadden is who I’ve wanted to fill our left back role, still young, wand of a left foot, can take set pieces and just adds an extra threat to our attack
Guthrie is a left footer but more of an Innis rather than a Naby. Saying that though assuming Eoghan will be our (I hate this term) quarter back type, we may need someone who can handle aerial threats and in general big target men, he was one of the best at that last season. Would also command a few like McLaughlin though and is month shy of 30, not sure if that will be something we’d look to spend our budget onCan’t say I know anything about Collins
Powell wouldn’t offer us anything, especially if we get Reed, wages spent better elsewhere
Also haven’t heard of Hoskins but he seems to have knocked up some good numbers and Northampton were a good side last season, seems like one of the standouts17 -
Agreed, it would be really frustrating if Stockley was injured or suspended and Chuks still couldn't startFishCostaFortune said:

I feel the introduction of five subs is going to make impact replacement a growing part of the game. In a similar way I suppose to Rugby Union having its closers.2

Agree, with Aneke and Inniss already here and the cap getting smaller I don’t feel we have room for another player who needs their minutes managing as much as Williams.FishCostaFortune said:

Really impressed with your analysis especially after naming O'Connell as a possible target before anyone else.4 -
Being able to replace half your outfield players is a big change IMO. It will really help pressing teams for instance.MuttleyCAFC said:I feel the introduction of five subs is going to make impact replacement a growing part of the game. In a similar way I suppose to Rugby Union having its closers.
A big swing back to advantage bigger clubs who can afford both the depth and quality of players.
It will be interesting to see how teams utilise the change.
