I think the people who give Stockley very low marks are wrong. Admittedly he is a relatively limited League 1 striker but the poor guy has to play up front virtually on his own. He gets no support at all from Kirk ( who is useless) and precious little from Rak Saki. He won quite a lot of headers today but its pointless because there is no one near him to help or take advantage. Also he is very important defensively because he is the 2nd best after Inniss at clearing headers.
The other point is that the reason Aneke is so effective when he comes on is because the defenders are tired partly from their physical battle against Stockley.
Yeah, I didnt see any support for Ladapo either but he managed to swivel on the edge of the box & bury it in the far corner.

How many times has Stockley done that this season ?? And if you say "but that's not his game" then it should be if he is playing up top.
I think the team is moving away from the style of play suited to Stockley and as much as I like him it would probably benefit the player and maybe the club if he eventually found a team that suits his style.

Stockley may battle away and is good defensively, but is so ponderous up front. Indeed I wonder about his fitness, as he's like a 36 year old veteran out there.
Realistically, Stockley is in this team till January as Aneke can’t start and when fit Leaburn will be playing alongside him instead of Kirk. So Stockley will have my support till then. But I hope we get someone who Garner wants from early January as he just doesn’t play in the way that Garner needs from his centre forward.

Stormed out when Ipswich scored their fourth. It was too much!
Heard our third just outside the club shop, and what sounded like Ipswich’s fifth in Floyd Rd. Everyone thought the same, until someone saw on his phone that it was us who scored.
Gutted to have missed it. Aaaagh!!
Can’t wait to see it on ITV. It has to be the first L1 match for a change.
For all the stick I get at least I stay through thick & thin. Never leave before the end. Never.

You're no more than a glory boy. Go support your grandfathers team.
The only reason his grandfather ended up there is that WE (in the person of Stanley Gliksten) sacked him.

    Harsh Golfie.
Nah fair enough. I give Golfie a bit of stick. Knew it’d come back and bite me.
Obviously a glory boy supporting Charlton 👍👏

    I'm not so sure.

I could see Stockley being dropped. At least Leaburn can bring the ball down and send passes out or hold it up.

Stockley is too nice for that role.

By the way, who else was up at Portman Road that time we drew 4-4 there? I'm sure the scoring went the same way then too ...... 0-2 down, back to 2-2, 2-4 down and then 4-4 right at the death. I'm sure we got a late penalty - Tommy Caton?

Or have I imagined all that?
My brother mentioned that game when it was 4-2 but I said that we had more than 3 minutes to get a draw back then.

Jesus what a game. There 2nd goal was terrible on our part, letting them play the ball.

I don't think Ipswich were that great tbh. They have enough talent to do well enough but not the world beaters there made out to be.

Left at 3-2 to my shame but what a result. There's a decent team here...need some holes plugged in January then who knows what we can do.

Edit: ref was quite honestly the worst one we've had. Fucking disgrace.
Can you find a different word or name to use instead of Jesus please?
    Thanks.

The way we are playing now we have our biggest goal threat from CBT and JRS, Aneke helps too but if one of them isn't playing it is easier to double up on the other. Between now and January, it is important they play together for as many minutes as possible. Without them, we just can't get behind teams reliably and that is key to our success.

You may be right Dazzler, but I think both Stockley and Leaburn lifted their games in the short stint they played together.

Annoyingly, I think Leaburn and Washington would have been a great combo.

Just like their fellow East Anglians they'll be counting the result on one hand
    Oi!

Don't lump the Suffolk lot in with the proper lot north of the Waveney!

i never leave early but must admit, was on my way out but stopped just before our third and saw the drama unfold - our best 11 is as good as anything in this league imho -  cbt and aneke r the nuts, love dobson, fraser and sessignon - we're a couple more players of that quality away from having a proper crack at it

Stockley is playing his game by numbers. He has lost a lot of confidence and needs a spell on the bench but our lack of attacking options has prevented that. I think he would benefit from playing a bit with Aneke, but he is always the one Aneke replaces.

Can't stop smiling. Best game I've seen in years. The passion. The atmosphere. That is the Charlton I love.

And I also agree with Ben about the ref.

That was 88 or 89. I was there, standing behind the goal. Yes recall the late pen from Tommy Caton

Referees and the powers-that-be like to promote the Respect campaign towards officials.

Maybe they can start by respecting the competition they're asked to officiate.

Gutted, had unexpected visitors arrive on 90 minutes so thinking the game was done and dusted I switched the TV off. Had a casual look at Sofascore when the visitors left and nearly spat my cider out.

Ben..........give Dobbo the armband, it’s wasted on Stockley

Arrived 25 mins late after sorting the first and best bit of news of my day.  Then watched an 8 goal thriller and I missed none of the goals despite my tardiness.

Gotta say, whilst I don't like blaming refs; today's was so shockingly awful I was genuinely wondering if there was more to it. He seemed blatantly biased at times.  Disgraceful performance and I have not seen one that bad for a long time.

As for Ipswich, they are a very decent L1 team but what a pissy bunch of players, diving, time wasting, getting in the refs face, claiming nonsense penalties, celebrating in Claire's face, celebrating in front of our fans, cupped ears.  The lot.  Fair play to our lads for keeping their cool, if I had been on the pitch I would have gone "full Innis" on Edmundson, what a toss pot.  As unlikely as it is, I hope they miss out again this season.

It made the come backs that much the better though and my kids said they have never seen me move as quickly as when our 4th went in and I skipped down the stairs to celebrate.

Great day from start to end.

I can't find anything on the internet that says 4 goals were scored in stoppage time, except maybe one Arsenal game

If that was 2 goals scored in stoppage time to win the match 4-3 and get 3 points, then the match day programme may find a little bit of space available for itself in the museum...

We'd only be a few points off from the league one playoffs. Our dreams may have come true

Not once. And it a little frustrating with the ‘Aneke has it easier because defenders are more tired when he comes on’. They shouldn’t be, they have just had the easiest 60/70 minutes of their season because Stockley is so ineffective. They suddenly have a game on their hands when Aneke plays.

You can play it up to Aneke and he’ll back into the defender, hold it, turn and run or pass it out wide. You simply cannot do that with Stockley.

To me, it’s really no surprise that we scored all 4 when Aneke was on the pitch because we are a much, much better team when he is.
    Totally agree, Sage.

As we left the ground tonight, I commented that I don't believe we'd have scored even one goal had Stockley & Kirk remained on the pitch.

Chuks was the catalyst for our incredible comeback.
