As fans I think we’ve earned that, having sat through so much dross this season! We had a proper plan, NOT to press their back four, but to remain compact, and difficult to break down. Old school!
The defence deserved the plaudits for the clean sheet. You’d never have thought that Ness had only played a handful of games before tonight, and Inniss looks so much better keeping it simple. Chin was much better on the right, and Sessegnon cooed well under a lot of pressure. Happy for Lavelle getting the winner.Hayes has done ok, with only Inniss’s mistakes spoiling what had looked like a good performances until his intervention. Would hope he’ll remain part of the set up.Let’s hope this win sparks a bit of a revival! 👍13 -
Well stone me and call me Carly what a night!3
-
Well i never thought that was going to happen, what a night, what a Covered End!!!
Ragged and patchy in places, BUT we battled!
Well done lads you have given the club a desperately needed lift!1 -
The best night i've had down the valley since the doncaster play off, atmosphere got better and better. Always quite liked Brighton but some of their play acting/diving and ref whinging was desperate and embarrassing. We got in their heads and the plan worked. Yes,we got away with a couple and the penalty shootout was laughable but fuck it, what a great night. Bloody football eh?!14

Just got back through the door. Bloody hell. What a night. Took the wife and kids and had to explain that we would get tonked but it would be a fun family night out. Wow. Football is weird.7

Special mention to JFC for his penalty. Steadied the ship.28

I'm glad I went. From one of the worst atmospheres in memory at the weekend, to one of the best tonight. I'm looking forward to the draw tomorrow!6

Glory night at The Valley ahead, our best one since the Doncaster play off. The team will completely defy their current form, the ground will be rocking,
Come on you Addicks6 -

I was expecting a Nicky Bailey from Lavelle. He also kept composure from the goalie trying his luck at mimicking Martinez.0

Just got back to my Dad's in Loughton. Brilliant night. Like the old days.Shape. Determination. Hard Work. Delighted for the players. We must build on this.Aneke and Stockley need to be moved on though.1

I fuckin love u Charlton Athletic…what an incredible night, everyone bar Chuks for obvious reasons left everything out on that pitch…well done the lot of ya’s including management team, more of that please…1

Don’t know if anyone else who was there with their kids was thinking the same, but when Lavelle was walking up I was just saying in my head ‘please give my boy something to cheer about’.It’s so painful trying to keep kids into it when we are as consistently shit and on a downward trajectory as we have been / are. He went crazy at the end, absolutely loved it. Gave me far more pleasure than us actually winning seeing him get a very rare bit of joy from following us.Football celebrations can give you unbridled, spontaneous cheer that you just don’t get with anything else. It’s been missing in action at Charlton for far too long.93

Honestly I don't get you lot on here.
2nd time I've been this season and this team has been absolute mustard both times, what are you all moaning about?!?!?!?!29 -
Best night at The Valley since Doncaster. This is a special club.2
-
It's true. We've done well with very little contributions from forwards this season apart from a teenager.0

On a serious note what a team effort.
The amount of times we doubled/tripled up on a Brighton player and harried them off the ball was fantastic.
They all ran themselves into the ground (it showed last 15 mins) and penalties was the least we deserved after the shift that was put in.
What a lovely early Christmas present!
Looking forward to see who we get in the QUARTER finals.3 - Sponsored links:

Just back. What a brilliant evening! Every single player put a proper shift in, AMB was superb between the sticks, and the Charlton fans were fantastic from start to finish. A great showcase for the club.
Only the second game I've managed to get to this season for various reasons - the last one was the Plymouth game - some good choices were made!
Great to celebrate with my old man again!
Wembley here we come!3 -
My nephew asked for a Brighton shirt for Christmas (having lived in his Charlton kits). He said he was pleased Charlton won so hopefully that shirt stays in the wardrobe untouched!0

I'd forgotten we won on penalties at QPR as well, so that's 3 out of 4! Indeed in the QPR and Stevenage shootouts we scored all 5 too.
Who would have thought that Henry's 90th minute screamer to equalise at Loftus Road would have started a cup run to the QF.7 -
Horrible journey back with no trains out of Waterloo. Was it worth it? Of course it was!
I was very surprised when Sessegnon stepped forward for a penalty as he was out on his feet for the last 15 minutes but credit to him and all the others that volunteered.1 -

My old school mate worked on the Back to the Valley campaign for one of the VP candidates. He was Walsh’s boot sponsor when he scored the first goal back at The Valley. He switched allegiance to Brighton a few years back. Of course I’m not going to gloat.6
