Very sorry to hear the news. Dave was a great guy, a big figure in CARD and way back in 1990 I remember his letters to the Mercury challenging the council and other local residents in the cause. I’m glad I got to know him a bit better in recent years but he’ll be much missed.19

Such a lovely fella. Had a great chat with him before the first Euro.96 game on Charlton Station, was talking about the game against Scotland a week later.
Was as proper Charlton as they come and throughout all the issues the club have had always was on the correct side of the argument

Totally gutted to hear that awful news. Got to know Dave well during the protest years and he was, as others have said, a wonderful man. Last spoke with him about 4 weeks ago and he told me the cancer had finally caught up with him and he was "on the slippery slope now". Never met a more courageous man. Will treasure the memories of when he joined @SE7toSG3 and I on a mudlarking walk in East London last July. He was obviously ill but he has been fighting it for so long that I kind of expected him to go on for ever.
RIP big man. X19 -
That is really sad news. I didn’t know him but he was clearly a very important member of the Charlton community and I’ve been an avid reader of ‘Drinking During the Game’ for many years. RIP.

Spoke to Dave at length last year in the Pelton Arms at a gig.
We shared our journeys and stories, his, at that stage more advanced and aggressive than mine.
I’ve known Dave for a long time, we moved in very similar circles, but that night was one of the most humbling and emotional for me, due to his strength of character, positivity beyond my comprehension and his own words of advice and comfort to me, I actually felt like a charlatan even talking about my illness, I cried like a baby in the Uber home.
Inevitable but still terrible news.
RIP Dave, a proper Charlton face, you leave behind many, many friends.
My heart and sincerest condolences go out to his family and loved ones.39 -

I’m sure I must have known him to see going by what others are saying ,if considered appropriate would it be possible to see a picture of him.
Also, rear right in a Belgian bar

F***, from the photo I’ve just realised who Dave is.
I was fortunate enough to meet him on a few occasions, a true gentleman.
Rest easy now.
