As our captain and best player for the last 2 years and at an age where he could still improve, I would expect him to be towards the top of our best earners.6 -

I think the psychological damage caused within the squad by the way the club has handled the situation will be significant. He is the club captain, and with that, a man the players respected, and liked. It's disgracefully poor form by Scott and co.37

I wish we could have all given Dobbo a decent thank you and send off. It’s not like we will even be seeing him back at the Valley in an oppo’s kit, he’s off to Hungary, which is one of the strangest transfers in our history, surely?
For our current level, thought he gave everything he could and battled like three players in one. In fact surrounded by some of the shirkers he has played with in midfield, he was playing for three players in one in most games he played for us.2 -

I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here, but let's not kid ourselves on how great he apparently is, he works his socks off but that's to make up for the fact that overall he's a slightly limited League 1 footballer7 -

The problem was that he was being offered far less money than other players at the club who were nowhere near as good as he is.

Seems to me there is more than meets the eye here. First of all I find it very odd that a player such as George voluntarily wants to go to Hungary. No offence to that league, but surely you would wait until the summer before making that decision.Secondly, why leave now. Club captain, has loved his time here up until this season.It could be the (rumoured) falling out between himself and Scott. But, again, seems odd that Scott (and by extension the ownership group) would essentially cut their noses off to spite their face.We will lose a lot more than 300k if we get relegated so that transfer fee becomes irrelevant.
If, and it’s a big if, George’s heart was no longer in it, I can see the sense in letting him go. We’re in a battle and need everyone pulling in the same direction.Very, very odd.9 -

Dobson is an average League One player. He’s certainly not a Championship midfielder. No player is irreplaceable, but there is no induction at all that any of the new midfielders are anything like as good as Dobson, and certainly nowhere near as good a Dobson was earlier in the season. Not including Camara, as he isn’t new.5

He's no Yann Kermorgant but the stupidity, timing and politics of this transfer has echoes of his departure.
Dobson is exactly the sort of player we need at the moment. Give him a good wage then sell him on if we have the luxury of finding and buying an upgrade.31 -
I still don't personally feel that we were missing Dobson yesterday, he has been part of a midfield that has underperformed for many years...the person we missed was CBT, his unpredictability was a real asset.
To lose both in a January is negligent however.
Seems to me, the board "feel we are too big to go down" and do not realise the situation we are in.10 -
