I could imagine Jones is furious, not least at being forced to lie to us in his first post-match, but I think it would involve Methven throwing Scott under the bus, and also messing up his P&L spreadsheet to create the new offer to Dobbo. But you are right, WIOTOS, much as I hate to use that old trope.
the snag though is that we would then need to recruit a new person to do the job that Steve Gallen did pretty well (given the multiple shitshows above him). And Methven would have to explain this new change to the Yanks.

When you put it like that!1

They must have been delighted when Conor Gallagher was recalled in the Championship?
Of course they are not comparable in quality but their importance to the side at the time.
Agree with the fact that George was the heart beat and this is a terrible time to lose him when we should be fighting to stay up.

Have you got concrete news from the club that he is now moving in this window to you? I ask because Gaby, an always reliable Hungarian source , wrote this to me last week
https://x.com/djgabyg/status/1754573719547060645?s=61&t=oKpEK5xuwukoPQ-YsizesQ
1st July, reflecting the talk of a pre-contract. Now there are two people on here saying he has gone now. That should mean that a fee has been paid. Are Fehervar that anxious to get him that they would pay a fee to get him now? Maybe, but if I were you, I would not assume it based on those two posts.I think we’d all appreciate it if you can post direct links about this from either the club or reliable HU media. Don’t worry about the language, we can all use Google Translate.
well that’s it then, he’s off. Going there Monday for medical and will sign a contract if the medical is Ok. Which it will be, as the report says he has been “left out” of the team. So we’ve been lied to, on top of everything else.Refers to a scout with links to Brentford as having tipped them off about Dobbo.I see that you had a much better awayday than we did @Vjacheslav. 😉
Keep us posted about Dobbo, through the season. I have my doubts that he will be successful but I certainly wish him well. Whatever people’s opinions about his technical ability, you won’t find many who disagree that he was a model professional who gave 110% every week and seemed like a good bloke all round and role model for kids. Our club now has some questions to answer….
They made him a fantastic offer and then increased it , but he was determined to leave. We couldn’t have done anything else. His mind was made up.17 -

Dobson doesn't have to leave before the end of the season he is choosing to in the same way that Lyle Taylor made a choice not to play. His mind was made two months ago at the same time as his performance starting to decline. At the time we needed our captain to step up he is choosing to walk away. It is a choice - he does not have to leave. He can stay, go at the end of the season.I thought he had signed a pre-contract with a foreign club as per the rules for players whose contracts are coming to an end.It is Charlton not playing him and trying to get him out before end of season is it not ?2

He’s not signed a pre contract, apparently he has been / is being sold. The window is still open there0

Banished to the U21's? You lot make it sound like he has been sent to a Gulag. It's hardly surprising that you wouldn't want a player who isn't going to play for the club again being involved with the first team. It's normal. That's what happens. Dobson the victim, the club at fault. I am not buying it. I have read comments on here about 'you cant't blame him' 'respect him for putting his family first ' etc etc... utter nonsense. Bloke should see it through. I would respect him if he stayed. I am in the minority clearly but I believe strongly with captaincy comes responsibility, the responsibility that he is abdicating. He wants to go to Hungry. He doesn't want to play for Charlton. That's it. It really comes done to that.17

Just feels like Charlton might end up regretting not doing more to try to retain Dobson.
Yes, he might possibly be only an average league 1 level player (although Curbs doesn't seem to think that) and unlikely to be able to step up to the Championship. However, how many of our current squad are even hitting the dizzy heights of an average league 1 player and the Championship seems far too far away to be even thinking about.
The only players in this squad who consistantly demonstrate they are trying to bust a gut are Dobson, May and Kanu. If I was Jones I would want them in the squad for every possible one of the final 15 games and would be highlighting to the squad that the minimum effort required is as demonstrated by these three.11 -
If he wants to leave now and made that clear then he shouldn't be near the team. Shame to lose him but it is what it is.
Does seem an odd move to a team in Hungary but must be a decent prospect! Good luck to him but tbh, we as a club need to concentrate on staying in the league with what we have, not those who wanna go.4 - Sponsored links:

We have banished him to train with the kids and have chosen to sell him. In what part of that process would he think 'ok i'll stay'?21 -

If he has gone from being first team captain to training with the kids then It’s so disrespectful. Doesn’t really send a good message out to the rest of the players and it’s not like he has broken a code of conduct. If he wants to leave then fine, but he doesn’t need to be treated so poorly.9 -

loves the club and is really gutted.
Forced to play and train with the U23’s by Andy Scott.
Andy Scott is a vindictive nasty useless C**T3 -
Modern football really is quite miserable. It used to be that players who consistently showed the level of heart and hard work that Dobbo did would get respect at the very least. The crap being lobbed at him now by our own fans.21
-
Is it too late for Jones to speak to the ownership and sort this away from Scott and Methven?
(Methven isn't a real owner)
Give Dobson what he wants and end this nonsense.10 -

But what i cannot accept is how someone has decided it's a good idea to a) give him a poor contract offer and b) sell him when we're in a relegation battle. Absolutely shocking.
I hope the owners look back and think the peanuts of a transfer fee was worth it when we're playing at home to Barrow and Harrogate in front of 5k fans next season. This isn’t just aimed at Dobson situation, this has been going on for a year now, with a wide range of different “trusted sources” who all post something different. It is yet another reason we find ourselves in this position. Too many vultures picking remains off our club.
It's Ged Roddy's fault.1 -
Offical, but only from the summer.

So we've pulled out of the transfer and he can be involved until the end of the season?2

I wonder if he’s spoken to Cullen about the benefits of a sideways move to Europe to leapfrog back to a better move?3

Yet another thing in that article that doesn't make sense where it says his young family have already moved to Hungary?1

So he hasn't been sold then, he's signed a pre contract with a foreign club?0 -
If he does stay and is fit I would go with a blunt nosed diamond the next few games. With Coventry at the base, Dobson and Bakinson in the centre, then with Watson and Camara supporting May and providing the flair. Nothing else has worked.0
