Slightly concerned with us going back for Dykes and Godden we want to stick with a 2 up front, and Kelman’s best performance this season has been in a 1 think Kelman likes to have room to operate which he doesn’t get with another striker

Why has he not been banned from here then? if his previous profile has?
His posts are short. And he is usually polite. I have been a stalwart supporter of Leaburn and Campbell but Ronnie's posts do not annoy me. I cannot same the same for every poster.

Kelman shows up really well on this graph, alongside the likes of Liam Millar, Ivan Azon, Patrick Bamford and Haji Wright for “receipt value per progressive pass received”.

    Receipt value: Goals*1.1 + Shots on Target*0.95 + Shots*0.8 + Corner Won*0.3 + Foul Won*0.15 + Retained*0.1 + Lost Possession*0.02 (outcome within two actions after ball is received)

Progressive pass received: completed pass that moves the ball at least 20% closer to the opponent goal and has a gain of at least 5m forward.

I remember when football used to be such a simple game.

Don't think i've ever had a football conversation and said "yes but have you seen his stats for completed passes that moved the ball at least 20% closer to goal and had a gain of at least 5 metres forward, they're unbelievable"

It’s people who talk about XG that boil my piss. I can’t be doing with it.
And yet it’s the folks at Brighton and Brentford who pioneered all this stuff that have become established mid table Premier League sides, possibly even sniffing European this season.

You might not like it but data makes the world go round and football is no different. If you want to remain blissfully unaware of it, you still can.
I wasn't having a dig at you and obviously i'm aware of the increased use of data in football these days, just that the "completed pass that moves the ball at least 20% closer to the opponent goal and has a gain of at least 5m forward" has to be the most niche stat i think i've seen.

Including himself, all hopes were high and excited for him to start season 25/26, having built from the special goal and performance against Hull.

A dislocated shoulder is a slow healing process and usually takes 3-6 months. Fingers crossed we may hear some good news.

3-6 months is a worst case scenario I thought?

    this is Charlton.

    See you in January Charlie

3-6 months if you need surgery and have done really bad damage that can’t just be reset there and then

Didn’t sound anywhere near that bad from the interview. They popped it back in and will see how he is after the weekend, probably miss the start of the season which is a real shame

Josh Cullen missed 11 games in 18/19 when he dislocated his shoulder. He was out from November to mid-Jan

How long was Igor out for? They did it on the same night iirc

Doesnt sound too bad at all - it was already back in when he came off.

If we are playing 4-2-3-1 I would suggest Leaburn and even Godden are better suited to that role up front.

Bollocks was hoping to see him have a full pre season and hit the ground running. Clear to all to see that there’s a very good player in there if he can improve on a couple of things.

We are cursed. I was really hoping Charlie would get a good pre season, get himself really fit and then we’d see what he’s about. Now he’s probably out till September at best, won’t have a full pre season, won’t be as fit as a butchers dog and then come November fans will be moaning why did we pay 3.5m for him. Even best case scenario it’s bad news.

I beg to differ, Kelman scored for fun in a 4231 at Orient

It’s a bit harder to say with Igor because he wasn’t first choice and he usually had a hundred other injuries being managed but he was out for 13 games, so roughly the same as Cullen

Thankfully it’s not like we’re short with forward options at presents

Could see Leaburn playing wide in a 433

Playing on your own up front in league 1 for a possession based team is very very different to doing it in the championship for a direct team. He struggled physically last season, and didn’t look like a player that could lead the line in the championship until the Hull game where he was very good - if we get that Kelman then he can probably do it

He definitely couldn’t have it lumped up to him like we wanted to do with dykes but there is a way of playing for him to be effective .  It would rely on mobility around him and useful wide players ..

Sat behind the dug outs and he was having a heated exchange with NJ just before his injury.

When he walked off back to the dressing room NJ went to speak to him and he just ignored him! Looked very awkward between the two!

Sounds like he was giving Jones the cold shoulder, ironically this is a symptom of a dislocated shoulder.

None of us wanted kelman injured, however timing wise this might just convince the owners to urgently spend on one (apart from grant)

If we’re letting one short-mid term injury suddenly change our entire transfer strategy then that’s incredibly poor planning and squad building.

We have Leaburn still fit, Godden still fit, Kanu still fit, Grant can play there, Olaofe can play there, Mbick when fit can be there safe to say That can cover Kelman’s injury for a couple of months easily

You could probably play there .  How well , I’m unsure .  Same with the others on that list .

Has anybody seen more news on Kelman's injury?  Have seen comments of possibly out for two months.

Assume he can still train/stay fit - ie running and the like. Just no contact?

I don't think we're that desperate for another striker but even if we signed another 3-4 strikers they'd all be pretty pointless unless we sign a couple of players who can actually create chances for them.

Grant, Leaburn, Godden, Kelman, Mbick, Kanu.

If they all stay here, then not sure we'll be signing another striker as i highly doubt we'd need 7.

I'm not including Tanto as i think he will be loaned out.
