One thing that's for sure, if he does end up getting sacked this season, it won't impact his stock. Anyone that follows this league and understands the quality of the other sides knows the job he has at hand.
I think anyone predicting us anywhere above 19th-20th is absolutely bonkers. If he can get us 21st, he will be undeniably one of the greatest managers we have ever had. Good luck to him.17 -

With what he has been saying since coming back to preseason about quality over quantity and the positions he wants to improve, he’s pretty much saying what most of us think,I don’t see how once he’s told Rodwell and the board his wishes what more he can do, they knew this season was going to be harder, have they got the stomach to give NJ the best chance to be able to compete? The talk was quite bullish when talking about moving forward but the actions are a bit less so, time still left but the the longer it takes the harder our season will be.AberystwythAddick said:

It’s frustrating really, we will be scrapping at the bottom again this season and unless some other teams take some points deductions could be a lot worse than last year. We have wealthy owners who have some very big limits on what they will invest and when you see the likes of what Wrexham and Birmingham are doing it shows how far off we are. That’s not to say we are doomed, Jones can definitely get something out of his players but it won’t be pretty. I think two or three quality players could make a huge difference but it costs more than our owners are willing to invest. Not sure I see what the point of them owning us is if we go back down.10

Jones I assume picked the players last summer , most of whom have been pretty poor and/ or unsuited to our system. Indeed, Bell was good, Carey was free and good until he dipped at the end of the season and the rest have been average at best.blackpool72 said:

Love NJ, however think he might’ve jumped the gun on trying to revolutionise us into an expansive ball playing football team. If we go toe to toe with some of these teams in the division we’ll get blown out the water, think we should’ve doubled down on the sh*thouse 10 men behind the ball stuff that although not exciting to watch can be effective?3

We don't even have to have a go at a play off spot, around mid table would do very nicely for this season. What we appear to be doing is throwing the last two seasons away. It will cost our billionaire owners more in the long run to get us back into this division than buying a couple of decent championship midfielders that could see us stay up. Our owners are on record as saying they’re in it for the long haul. A relegation now would put them behind the curve. Easier said than done but Let’s not condemn them until the window is closed. There’s time enough for some quality additions.7
