Feel for Kirsty Muir. So close to a medal. Still, she was very impressive.

There’s a couple of things I’ve always wanted to do. A ride round the velodrome is one and the other is a go at the luge. Bet that’s fucking awesome.

@Leroy Ambrose as a cyclist should I be shitting myself doing a cycle track experience as my missus got me it for my bday. Think I’m more melting it from having to wear Lycra.

    😂

Nah, you'll be fine. Main thing to remember is that there's no freewheel, so you can't stop pedalling or you'll end up over the bars. No brake either - slowing down is achieved by letting off force on the pedals - sounds confusing but it won't take you more than five minutes to get the hang of it. Bit you'll enjoy most is when you get confident enough to go up the banking and swoop down - that's fun 😁

Hope you enjoy it - personally speaking, although track suits me because I'm what they call a 'big engine' (can ride reasonably hard all day) it also bores me - for my money it's better to watch as a spectacle than ride it.

And you'll quickly realise why track cyclists wear lycra. It's not just for aerodynamic reasons - it's fucking hot in a velodrome - if you didn't have the lycra wicking sweat away, you'd overheat inside 15 minutes!

  • Such a shame for Kirsty Muir today, who finished 4th in her event and so missed on a Medal by 0.41 points

Even though its early stages I feel they've lost this one.

Should have got more than 1 in the first end then in the 3rd end they let the Swedes steal 2.

3-1 down could soon be 5-1. If so I think its curtains.

    And now they are not.

    8-3 after the 6th end.

Swedes got 5 in the last end.

It's all over bar the shouting.

    Unbelievable 6th end.
Mouat speeding up his stone when it's already going too quick.
    Dodds completely missing.
    Totally bottled it.

Shame for them, given their performance in the Round Robin.
Hate the use of the term "botting it", wonder how many of us would cope on the stage?
Always think its a bit of a muggy comment

Strangely, the Scottish commentators are laughing and joking about the capitulation.

But they’re pro’s and most of the job is dealing with the pressure, they haven’t done that since losing in the round robin

But they're human mate... Just because they're "Pro's" doesnt mean they shouldn't feel nervous or pressure.
Too often its acted like they're f**king robots

Of course but the reason they haven’t played well is because the pressure got to them. That can happen but it’s ok to acknowledge that too

Yeah I just feel that the phase "Bottled it" a bit of an insulting way to acknowledge it
Wonder how much not playing this morning didn't help.
Recall them saying when we faced the United States, that it was a similar situation then, that we'd played in the morning, and they hadn't, therefore we knew about the feel of the ice or something along those lines.
Edit: Wouldn't matter as Sweden didnt play this morning either

Found it reasonably interesting but had no idea what was going on with the Power Play. Why complicate matters with that?

Just over did it. So close and obviously she is capable of nailing that jump and landing. Just not today.

One of my mates (well loose acquaintance really) is Dave Ryding - he's from a village up the road from me and I regularly ride with mates from his cycling club and he's tagged along with them a few times. He's retiring at the end of this season and has a final shot at an Olympic medal this week. Be amazing if he could get it - not sure anyone would think someone who started on a dry ski slope on the Nick o Pendle would ever have a chance of an Olympic medal!

Yesterdays semi final frustrated me so much, i think ill pass. That one end where we just lost it, also just felt like we made too many mistakes and Sweden were faultless.

Summed the day up with the two ladies getting 4th, they were both bloody unlucky though.

Ahh wasn't to be. The British pair were much better today but the World Champions were just too good

Two best pairs on paper in the bronze medal match. Unfortunately for them, the semi finals were played on ice.
  • I think I preferred it when we used to cheer on Brits getting a plucky 15th place in an event we'd never heard of. Less gutting than this string of 4th places.
