Finally getting into this. Downloaded the Scoham patch and took on the recommendation of starting in February (did this by adding Swedish leagues to my save).
Obviously having already generated 30+ games, the squad was in a random placing (15th, okay) with random injuries (Ajdarevic and Parzyszek both out for 6 weeks, great!) but am very much looking to see the season out, hopefully finish in the top half and push for promotion the following season. Church already had 12 goals for the season lol.
Using a 4-2-3-1 formation which the squad took a couple of games to adapt to but now have put together a couple of convincing wins. I've got Harriott and Hughes back into the first team squad in the absence of Ajdarevic and Koc (who I sent back to Liege) whilst demoting Jordan Cook to the U21s. Sending back Koc freed up a youth loan, and so I have Vellios in from Everton with a future fee clause of 100k. 2 goals in 3 appearances so far might well mean I make that a permanent switch in the summer window.
I got promoted in the first season, finished 2nd. I'm going to send a copy of the save to Roland and he might hire me as manager. I did play Thuram, AA and Polish Pete so I do like the play loanees.
second season had a clear out. Finished mid table. Sold solly for 4 million which gave me some funds. Trying to keep to roland's model of signing young european players. Bought a right winger in my first season for 100k from STTV and sold him to villa for a cool million in the summer without playing him in a game (he was 16 with strength of 1 when i got him). Dodgy start, bought in hodson at right back from mk dons for 700k rising to 800k seems to be performing better than solly did. Board cancelled youth imrpovements to take us to tier 1 because of finances. Starting to break joe gomez into the first team. Oh, i also sold harry lennon to celtic for a million quid as well. Joe Piggott had a great loan spell at York and is now wearing the number 10 shirt and is my top scorer so far this season.
I was playing Classic Mode (14.3) and going quite well in the first season, around the play-off positions. Best signing was Obika for 72K
Transfer embargo hit in late January as Richard Murray was selling the club (seems strange so soon after takeover), then Ben Hamer got injured for 12 weeks.
The club was taken over in the first week of February, with the new chairman cancelling the link with Liege and sending Ajdarevic and Thuram back. Meant Dimitar Mitov got quite a bit of gametime, and took away a very good centre mid. Completely ruined my season.
Not sure if it is the same in the full game, but seems strange that a takeover would happen so soon. Murray's status was "willing to listen to offers" when I started the game.

Happened in mine, pissed me off so brought the ingame editor and transferred them both back
I looked on the editor to see if I could put Jose Riga as manager at Charlton but I could not find him. Karel Fraeye is however on the game. His potential stats are not great though.
Do you have any plans to update your workshop file Scoham?

All going to plan so far. Finished the season in 10th place, just six points outside the play offs after going 13 games unbeaten to end the season.
Vellios and Thuram didn't want to come back while Astrit has renewed another years loan. I considered taking on Jacob Mellis from relegated Barnsley on a permanent instead of AA but he wanted too much money.
Chris Solly was sold to Hull for £6m(!!) and I've used the funds to sign Antonio from the Wendies for £1m as well as a 'keeper from Guingamp for 115k. Also got Luke Ayling on a free to replace Solly as well as Danny Batth from Wolves, Max Clayton from Crewe and Ross Draper from Inverness to bolster midfield options after Hollands, Green, Pritchard, Cort and R.Wood let their contracts run down and have left the club. I resigned all key players ie Hamer, Morrison, Dervite and Jackson.
Promoted Feely, Fox and Pigott to the first team while Nick Pope has gone on loan to Championship new boys Leyton Orient for the season & Harry Lennon is at League 1 Bury for the season.
Harriott playing just behind the striker (Vellios: 8 goals in 11 apps) was a revelation at the back end of last season (6 goals in 14). Allowed Jackson to sit back more effectively than Hughes while Reza chipped in with goals from the left wing.
Team for this season (using the same 4-2-3-1 formation with a shadow striker and false nine): ---------Hamer---------- Ayling Morrison Batth Wiggins -----Jackson Cousins------ Wilson--Ajdarevic--Harriott --------Antonio---------- subs: Samassa, Nego, Dervite, Draper, Poyet, Reza, Parzyszek squad: Fox, Feely, Hughes, Clayton, Pigott, Church (+Pope and Lennon on recall)
Any chance of getting another update with the new contracts expansion of facilities and signing of obika...maybe wait til poyet signs this new contract

the facilities if they are approved will probably be improved in the next fm when they'll be finished, presumably.
I won't be upgrading our facilities in the game before it's actually happened! Looking in the editor I don't think you can set a future date for them to be upgraded, unless it's hidden away somewhere?
Short term loans aren't included in the game so it doesn't really make sense to give us Obika on loan. He's probably available for loan in game anyway.

You can pick him up for 90k at the start of the season. Finished second highest scorer for me on 20 goals. Polish Pete was top scorer with 27 (did you set his stats Scoham? ),Solly finished with 15!!
End of first season I finished with 100pts and won the league. Should have been more but I gave the likes of Joe Gomez and Ahearne-Grant their debuts. Sold Church in Jan for 500k.
I play 3-5-2/5-3-2 hybrid with the wingbacks bombing up and down the line all game. Converted Harriott to a false 9 as a back up for Obika, Reza picked up 5 goals. Sordell got sod all.
Loanees- YTU is a top keeper, going to sign him for the prem, although his kicking is a bit erratic
AA was good when he was fit but that was only half the season
Koc was awful, petulant kid so sent him back in December.

Just been offered 5 million for Polish Pete and rejected it
how long till i regret that decision
he was quite good in my save tbh
started a new save, in my second season as an anglo-spanish version of myself managing barca b, some of my young uns have gone on to the first team and i won liga adelente my first season and going strong top again. Been shopping around for a new job as i feel i've served my apprentiship at barca b now.

Finally got around to finishing this second season. There was no shortage of entertainment for Addicks fans as a total of 167 goals were scored. It's just a shame 68 of them were chalked up in the 'against' column.
A comprehensive 4-0 win at the Amex on the final day of the season (Ajdarevic missed a penalty for 5-0 and 100 season goals in the 87th minute) meant we leapfrogged QPR to finish third at the end of the season. Finishing a whole 13 points behind second placed West Brom meant I couldn't have too many complaints.
Going to leave my play-off semi-final against Eddie Howe and Yann's Bournemouth who snuck into 6th ahead of Bolton on the final day of the season until tomorrow. Oddly, the other semi-final is 4th placed QPR against 5th placed Wigan.
Took over 17th in Feb, snuck into playoffs last day of the season, went up beating QPR at Wembley, strengthened with loans etc finished 8th and won the FA cup.
Sold Solly to Manure when I came up for 6.5 million, bought back a year later for 3.4, Poyet sold to Sevilla for 4 million, back on a year loan, Gomez on loan to Brentford, playing most weeks and getting rave reviews, just drawn Monaco, AZ Alkmaar and Braga in the Europa League group stages

I forgot to mention. Crystal Palace suffered two successive relegations and are now in League 1. :-)
Just my luck that Callum Harriott and Michail Antonio got injured in training during the week leading up to the final. I scraped past Bournemouth 1-0 on aggregate which was a bizarre contrast to the rest of my season. Wigan eased past QPR 5-2 on aggregate and so face their second play-off final in two seasons.
:-) :-) :-)
My next question is who to buy with a 15m budget and 60-70k extra wages?
Did one for Parma and it is one of the most messed up scenarios you could be in. About 164 players out on loan, 77 million of debt.... Snuck Champions League my first season somehow but when you have 164 loanees all coming back at the same time at the end of the season then funny enough you don't have enough wage budget to sign new players.

Signed:
Klasnic (free)
Ash Taylor (375k)
Obika (85k)
Lenart Thy (300k upfront rising to 1.3)
Gary Gardner (loan)
Playing a 4-3-1-2
Klasnic and Polish Pete both scoring for fun.
