Scrap that. I misheard as I had my headphones on. Faulty traincabbles said:Southern having an absolute shocker today.....what's it like on South Eastern? They're blaming signalling problems, which fall on Network Rail. Presumably there may be a bit of fall out on South Eastern routes as well

Trains buggered at Cannon Street. Wife just texted me.0
-
First time I've ever seen New Eltham station closed due to over-crowding on the platform. Train came in and nobody got on it, so was still closed.
Like a true trooper I turned around and went home.3 -
Trains are still cancelled/delayed from new eltham.
Will be going to the pub with off_it at this rate0 -
And it's raining0
-
What's today's excuse?0
-
They have just said the driver is boarding the train at slade green and the next train will be here at half nine so I'm assuming it's a lack of drivers. They must all still be standing at cannon street having a chat0
-
And we're only going as far as new cross0
-
What's happened at New Eltham? No problems there at 7am.0
-
Two issues this morning. Signal probs on Greenwich line and broken rail at Higham after train hit object on track. Thats what we were being told at Sidcup anyway!0

That's not for Charing Cross, no additional platforms or tracks. It's to allow Thameslink to whizz through faster. Which should mean slightly less delays for Southeastern, but no improvements over the timetable, just improvements to delays....Off_it said:
Yep, well, into charing Cross anyway. The new bridges etc are already there - one goes directly over the top of the wheatsheaf in borough market, but they need to reconfigure the station before they can lay the track etc.Leroy Ambrose said:Are they actually putting more lines into Cannon St and Charing Cross then? I didn't know that. Fucking hell - I've been travelling through that shit hole for the best part of 25 years daily and three months after I sod off Up North, they start expanding Charing Cross! Bastards!
Just going past it now!1 -

How you holding up Sparrows?
Tough tough time atm.0 -
I think Sparrows has been corrupted. He seems to know an awful lot about trains!0

Alcohol blurred the memories of Saturday, can't remember much of the game, don't think I even saw any of the goals! We've been directionless for a while now, no clear strategy from top to bottom. If somehow we stay up it needs a major overhaul in the summer, with very limited resources to do it with.soapy_jones said:

What you on about? Sure it's all part of the Thameslink spend, but they're widening the bottleneck at LB from one track in either direction to two, so capacity will increase at that point and there will also be more "through" platforms at LB. So it will be good news for everyone who travels that way, eventually.Sparrows Lane Lion said:

No new platforms at Charing Cross, but why would there be because, as anyone who travel into LB and beyond regularly will tell you, it's the congestion getting into LB that's the problem. Once you're out the other side its normally ok.
Bloody Millwall fans. Coming on here and trying to tell us, US, about trains!5 -
Even Charlton players have to put up with it.3

Impressive, train 8 minutes late last night - no apologies. 6 packed carriages (4 less) this morning and delayed due to broken train at Lewisham. Guess what - no apologies for either.0

F#+king shambles this morning. Incompetent arseholes.2

I'm really looking forward to using South West Trains when I move back down South. I'll have then used Southern, Southeastern, First Great Western and Northern to commute in the past four years. Apparently, South West Trains are more reliable than Southern and Southeastern, but when they do have a problem, it tends to be massive. Great.
Northern have been, remarkably, absolutely outstanding. I've only had two commutes in five months where there's been a serious delay. Nothing like I was expecting. The trains are fucking dire though - literally buses on rails.0 -
Emergency maintenance on sidcup line now as well, no trains London bound til 1, will be chaos later I imagine with the backlog.0
