Did Danson this morning. First parkrun or any 5k for over 2years. Fairly happy with 35.12. Walked a couple of times,so room for improvement over next few weeks.
Ran with pain and knee strapped up but glad I did and it’s fine now, over did it cycling during the week. Got a circuit pb and just seconds outside my best 5k. Fitbit gps playing up tho which is frustrating.

Did my 38th today at the 500th Greenwich Park run. 41:45 which was much better than the last few weeks. Massive turn out. Saw Razil the glory hunter but no AFKA.
Glad there was a good turnout. Was gutted to miss this morning but took my boys to Chessington for their birthday.

Was referred to a specialist by my GP, because I had numbness in my left leg, but my disc seems to have slipped back in again, and the numbness has gone. Hooray. Went for a run today. All good.
Anyone else running in the Standard Chartered Great City Run tonight? I’ll be bombing it round in last seasons white away top.
I'll be there! I'll be wearing last years white firm branded running vest. If you see a guy who looks like Rab C Nesbitt waving at you, it's me. I won't be bombing it round however

Don’t forget your free beer token, I’ve told by people who run it last year you’re advised to carry it with you as the queue builds up quick. Looking to complete sub 22 mins, good luck.

You too! If I get sub 26 I'll be happy, not realistic but anything under 28 will do. One of my colleagues has the pink sub 19 sticker, so I've given him my token. Speedy git can get the beers in

And it slipped back out again. Three hours sleep. Specialist here I come :-(
I started running about 3 weeks ago, my pace really is barely running, any quicker and it's feel like a heart attack is coming. How long do I have to keep this crawl going for before I see an improvement?

I couldn’t run 100 yards without stopping. Used to walk, run, walk at first. Each time I did it the running got slightly easier. Depending on your age I’d say within a couple of months you’ll notice a big difference if you exercise three times a week?

Absolutely.
I started about 15 months ago and I couldn't run for 30 secs even. But I followed one of many Apps available Couch to 10k or similar and they are brilliant as they build you up slowly. I reckon after about a month it all fell into place. I can now "run" for an hour easily and 5k is not a problem at all. Two pieces of advice I'd pass on that helped me so much is to run 3 times a week and run with someone else, ideally an experienced runner. You'll be amazed how well you do once you get your breathing going smoothly.

Well done mate. I'm considerably younger than you so factor the following with that in mind :-)
Very soon is the answer, if you are turning out 2-3 times a week. If you are just doing once a week or less frequent then you'll find it hard to make improvements.
I hadn't done any real exercise for about ten years when i started up last year. I first did about half a mile before walking. I started tracking my runs when i got up to about 2.5 miles without walking last June.
Looking back at my tracked runs, i stayed at the same pace for the next 2 months and gradually ein that time xtended the distance steadily up to 5.5 miles, staying at roughly the same pace regardless of what distance i run within those parameters.
I then started doing Parkrun in September. My first one i run around 45 secs a mile quicker than what i had been. My last Parkrun was 6 minutes quicker than my first,. So you are looking at a 3 mins a mile difference in 12 months (and i'm still no speedster!).
You haven't got to go overboard in terms of committment & discipline, just try and stay consistent. But doing a Parkrun (or any form of run with others), definitely helped trigger me into getting a little quicker.
good luck mate. See you at Avery Hill in the morning?
