Rubbish batting performance, only lasting 22 overs. According to the scorecard Pope kept wicket as Davies was presumably rested. Bit weird to have a part time keeper keeping instead of Billings, who's perfectly capably of captaining and keeping wicket.
Or it's a lions tour and is about giving young players a chance to show what they can do.
They already know what Billings can do behind the stumps. Let's see what Pope is about.
But Pope will never keep for England. If Pope plays for England it will be as a batsman, so surely it makes sense to let him concentrate on that

Fair point.
But the Lions are struggling at the moment - getting a few results on the board may breed confidence and help other players show their talents ... Billings should keep IMO.
I actually agree but am not too bothered either way.
Pope is a good 6 or 7 years younger than the Buttler/Bairstow/Foakes/Billings cohort of keepers so I wouldn't be surprised to see him with the gloves for England a few years down the line as they all come to the end of their careers. Especially in one day cricket.

I agree, whats to stop Pope keeping for England somewhere down the line , apart from the fact he has Foakes in his way at Surrey !
Nothing official until toss, apparently the captain and management simply cannot read the strip and don't know whether to go with 4 spinners, 6 quicks or 5 wicket keepers! Bairstow to bat 3 is the only thing I have heard.

I don't think Foakes will play for Surrey in the second half of the summer...
This is probably what Cook said recently in that Foakes now changes the dynamic of the team, whereby they cant now pack the teams with all-rounders and have 6 bowlers.
I am watching it now. Missed the start as waiting for a vacum cleaner to be delivered... Is that a black armband Anderson is wearing and who is that in ttibute to?

India A win with 5 balls to spare, a better effort by England A
Good tour for Billings with the bat, 108no in this match. I imagine playing IPL has helped him
WI playing no spinners.

We shall see who has called it right soon enough.
Shows how strong our bowling is - in the right conditions. Our top order batting remains questionable whatever the circumstances.
Anderson looked dangerous, Curran didn't.
