I've just taken a call from a well known, oop north club chairman that I have got to know quite well, along with quite a few other prominent footy figures, through my job. Wish I could say who but will not however, this is the main bits from the call...
Fu*k me mate, I was driving with (two big names in the game) chatting away then gradually silence fell on the car. Your owner came on the radio and we just sat there, staring at the radio in disbelief. Jaws dropped. What an utter nob head. Football knows about him, your issues with him etc but Jesus Christ, he is on another planet. The man is deluded. Never heard an interview like it in my life. I know you have told me in the past what a tool he was, but by god, he defies belief.
There was more but that's the gist of the conversation with me just agreeing in between him slating Roland. At the end I did say any chance you fancy buying a 'nice' club in south London? To that I just heard howls of laughter from the other two guys in the car and that was that!!
Man City's chairman has just gone up in my estimation ...
I really want him to provide specifics of all the comms teams errors. I can’t really remember anything stupid/controversial being said apart from on video of the perps actually saying it or in an interview in the Belgian press which they’d then claim was badly translated. I’d assume neither of these type of events can be blamed on the comms team anyway. He should be pressed to back up his donkey eared nonsense, he’s always allowed to just get away with dopey bullcrap
It’s not about the comms team “speaking for him” as Jordan has suggested. Duchatelet’s beef, as I understand it, is that comms staff advised him and Meire not to go on the offensive against fans. He believes if they had, everyone would have seen they were right and their critics were wrong. Draw your own conclusions as to the likelihood of that.

Is it not right, that when he published that stupid statement attacking the fans on the website, which led to the resignation of Mel Baroni, that even Meire tried to persuade him not to do so!

Duchatelet is not talking about 2016, though, he is talking about the period when he took over. By 2016 there was virtually no one left in comms who he had "inherited". I've posted Matt Wright's story explaining what went on at www.votvonline.com
Having listened to it again, something really doesn’t sit right with me.
Roland says numerous times about real estate and land, okay that’s what he is valuing the club to be, well apparently, but he also lets it slip saying along the lines of “part of it” as in he will give the club away for free + £20mil as part of the real estate and land, Roland keeps the rest.
I don’t think we are near the end and I think there is a lot more to it than we think, the value of the land and how much Roland is actually selling for and what percentage he is giving away, be it 100% or smaller.
I fear that he is now prepared to give the club away essentially as long as someone pays him £20mil for part of the assets such as the stadium and training ground. He will still own part of the assets to get his money back.
Of course, he has made himself look like a complete idiot with no common sense, everyone can see that, but I fear this fact that he is an idiot is also a reason as to why the sale hasn’t happened.
As I have said all along, he has had an ulterior motive.
I am certain the pillock will still own part of The Valley and/or Sparrows Lane.

The fact alone that he can never give a straight answer to a question regarding the sale, or what he wants, or the price, or now the assets, suggests you’re correct and he is trying to hide it and worm his way out of an uncomfortable situation.
When Simon Jordan said, 'So to pay for the stadium and the land, that's what they're negotiating?', RD replied 'No, there is no negotiation, there has been a negotiation, there is no negotiation.'

Tbf, I think he was saying he negotiated an agreed deal with The Aussies & therefore negotiations have been completed.
Why does he continue to appear on TS and give interviews? What is he gaining from doing it?
Because he formed a friendship with Jim White who he trusted to be an ally. he, and probably Jim White, hadn’t anticipated Simon Jordan being thrown into the mix.
As as a result I suspect. Jim has now probably burnt his bridges in that respect. If he does get any more interviews it will only be direct with the two of them I suspect.
An ally for what? What does he get out of it and why does he care??
Roland to five year old little kid: "What would you pay me for this lovely football club young 'un?' Little kid: "Cor! All ver munny in ver world mister!" Roland to prospective buyers. "I've already negotiated the club's worth as being all the money in the world, that's what it is definitely worth. You'll have to match my other interested party in their valuation and offer'.
In yesterdays Sint-Truiden regional edition of Het Laatste Nieuws:
Sint-Truiden:
In an interview with the popular British radio station talkSPORTS, Roland Duchâtelet, owner of Charlton Athletic FC, has reacted to the graffiti vandalism that happened to him. He comes to some striking conclusions. "English football should not allow foreigners to buy clubs." And how about: "I can only spend two percent of my time on my club." He also says that he only asks for money for the stadium and the stadium grounds, - the club Charlton he gives for free.
Radiojournalist of talkSPORTS Jimmy White does not think it is possible that Duchâtelet has happened, but he wonders if his relationship with the fans of Charlton, the club he owns, is not the cause of that. Charlton has a rich tradition, loyal fans and a culture of his own. Is not he going too far with the coarse brush? White was referring, among other things, to his radical savings in which the club did not even buy toilet paper for the toilets in the stadium. And of course, his total disinterest in the fans. "Well, I can only put in 2 percent of my time", Duchâtelet replies.
"They had not told me beforehand"
"Why do you buy that club in the first place?", The radio journalist asks with increasing surprise. "They had not told me beforehand. It is a big mistake from me. I also think that English football should forbid foreign investors from buying their clubs. In doing so, I based myself on the judgment of my communication people, who I inherited with the takeover of the club. Clearly, those virtues are not. "Replies the Truiense businessman.
Rubbish Mate!
This answer goes too far for even the polite British. "But you were the boss. Rubbish Mate! You are responsible for the malaise, nobody else. You might have had to buy another club and approach it differently. But how are you going to solve it now. Sell that trade anyway and what do you ask for it? "
"I want a fair price for the real estate and the land. I'll give the club for free ", an imperturbable Duchâtelet continues. "Only now that potential investors see how it is going to happen to me, think twice before taking over Charlton."
Do not feel like fans
Charlton's communications manager, Jimmy Stone, is more than tired of his boss's attacks: "From the outset, Roland has expressed his interest not in the history of the club or in his culture. He also did not want to meet the fans. It was a difficult feat to have him hold a first press conference during the takeover. It is not the communication service that the popular trainer Chris Powell and two of his best players have sold just weeks after the arrival of Roland Duchâtelet. "
Would definitely be interested if the go over his statement today on Talksport, pretty sure Jordan would do a good job picking through the bones of his FFP jibberish.

Whilst Jim will no doubt sit there saying how vandalism is bad
Jim White & Simon Jordan just had a short discussion about Roland's demand about the EFL should buy CAFC,White texted Roland this morning & Roland replied that his demand still stands which Jordan described as preposterous.
So there is Roland is his bunker.. counting his readies and is sitting there thinking "What a fantastic idea I have given EFL. There is no way they won't buy Charlton... here comes my money.. "

I ☝️found that rather "offensive" 🙂
Sadly, I think you may be right, and by the time he does sell up we'll be battling to stay in the league.

Got to have a big banner made with that on it!
