Hi all, I haven’t been around since the playoff final, but just wondered how it’s going on the transfer front. I’m assuming we've improved the squad since Div 1 days?

So much so Jimmy they are taking an extra coach up to Blackburn to accolade all our new signings!

Yep. The Aussies came good bought the club and brought in 7 internationals.

Yes, we got rid of that player who was unable to score in 90 minutes and who needed another 4 to do so, those two loanees from across the wrong side of the river were sent back and we signed the ones we needed for this season, we signed a player that’s built like a brick shit-house door, knows where the goal is and is set to be an instant legend, some mate of Lyle’s, a striker from the Orient but this one is better than zheng Zhi and a pirate captain

Yes mate, we got Aribo to sign a lucrative 3 year deal, he’s such a talent with massive potential and sell on value so makes sense. And of course BFG, he only wanted a deal that he deserved after four years of good service so that was a given.
Didn't quit have enough for Bielik on a permanent but the owners allowed to us move swiftly to replace him with proven quality in that position.
We replaced Cullen early doors because he was such an important player and we needed the squad to gel over the pre season.
Taylor and Dijksteel jumped at the chance of a new contract because the owners offered them a deal that was worthy of their services and great commitment shown last season.
Only issue is Bowyer has got his 22 and must have a selection headache on his hands, not to worry though, we can ease JFC back in as he’s been out all season and don’t want pressure on him straight away, and the kids might just go out on loan next week, not until we get a replacement lined up of course, and it’s nice to have the Pratley types around to keep the dressing room disciplined and for his experience, seriously doubt he will play though.
We haven’t spent a lot but we didn’t need to, we will certainly compete though and use the spirit from last season to give us a boost, exciting times. COYA.
What's really frustrating at the mo is there are no rumours no whispers or even any speculation
True but I think Bowyer can't let anybody know what he is doing until he does it. It comes out we are working on a loan for player A or B and every club will think they can gazump us!

I fear we may have had so many knock-backs, that maybe they are debating amending their remit from "players that will improve us" to "players who aren't quite shit"
Arsenal have signed Pepe would that mean Nketiah will be loaned out?
Probably- to Bristol City.
City are very low on the list to receive Nketiah, according to sources here in Bristol. Willing to play a whopping loan fee, but Arsenal want guarantees he will play, and have other plans for him (probably international loan).

If Nketiah came to Charlton, he's absolutely guaranteed to play up front.
Our tiny squad is as close to a guarantee your loanee will play as a club could possibly get. Trouble is if we get walloped at Blackburn then clubs will be worried about sending a kid to a club who could get battered weekly as it is not going to be a positive experience even if they are playing

What I would love to do is save this on my family photo album

You did know I was kidding, right?
Of course we did, and how we rocked with laughter. I thought my sides were going to split and the tears just rolled down my cheeks. No, not rolled, gushed. Such mirth. Such a pain in our sides. Will we ever read such cunning prose again? The sheer devilish audacity to claim no knowledge - but knowing you had posted most days. Sheer brilliance. When come such another? I just feel blessed to tell my grandchildren, “I was there”.

The portents don't look good in terms of keeping Anfernee Dijksteel. With all this speculation swirling around him and Lee disclosing Bristol City's interest, there must be a real prospect of Duchatelet cashing in at something like £2-2.5million. It's hard to see the lad signing a new contract, given the owner's refusal to pay wages at anything approaching the market rate. The absence of a CEO and Finance Director (for something like 20 and 18 months respectively), can hardly help matters, given that (a) Duchatelet claims to only spend 2% of his time on the club and (b) he appears to be someone who either doesn't take advice (save from little Tommy) or ignores such as advice as he is offered on football-related issues - after all, he does know best.
In the event that Anfernee moves on, I fully expect to see him being sold on in the next year or two for several times the sum paid to CAFC, unencumbered by any, or any significant, sell-on fee.
It's a tragedy that a hugely productive period for the club in terms of our excellent Academy and the conveyor belt of highly talented youngsters has coincided with this utterly disastrous regime. A great opportunity has - and continues to be - squandered. Most other clubs are delighted if they can introduce one or two home grown players each season, a yardstick we have consistently bettered.
I am sick to the teeth of other clubs picking off our young talent on the cheap. Why should clubs like Brentford and Huddersfield go to the trouble and expense of maintaining academies when they can pick up our best young players for modest fees and then sell them on at a profit ?
Sadly, it is not just agents who are laughing at us .
