  • We’ve had more competitive games against Cray Valley than palace in the last decade.

San Marino have scored in three games on the trot.

Although they've lost all three - That's actually a new record for them. Previously they've only managed to score in back to back games at best, the last time that happened was in 2005

How have I been to FP twice with no recollection of leaving the mainland?
    Perhaps you were pissed.
    Sorry.
  • Overnight Brazil lost a home World Cup qualifier for the first time ever.

Ending an unbeaten run that lasted 64 games.
  • Brighton are the first team in Premier League history to score and concede in each of 17 consecutive matches. The last time that didn't happen was on 14th May when Brighton won 3-0. Away to Arsenal no less.
  • Justin Kluivert yesterday became only the third player in history to score in Europe's top 5 leagues.

The other two are ex-Romania striker Florin Raducioiu and current Montenegro captain Stevan Jovetic.

Kluivert has actually now scored in the top 6 leagues as he also scored in the Dutch league for Ajax. And he's only 24.
  • Burnley have equalled Newport County’s all time record of seven successive home losses from the start of a season, which they set in the old Fourth Division back in 1970-71.
  • Kieran McKenna is two weeks short of being Manager of Ipswich for two years. In that time, Ipswich have never lost a League game when playing between Monday and Friday. Their record in that time is

    Played - 28
    Won - 19
    Drawn - 9
    Lost - 0
    For - 51
    Against - 13

Coincidentally, we have played exactly the same number of League games as Ipswich from Monday to Friday during that period but with not quite the same results:

    Played - 28
    Won - 13
    Drawn - 5
    Lost - 10
    For - 45
    Against - 35

The great news to gain from those stats is that the weight of expectation turning up for a midweek game as an Ipswich supporter weighs far heaver than it does for us!!!

I reckon we inflicted their last midweek loss then. Jackson oversaw a fairly routine 2 0 Tuesday night victory if my memory is correct.

That is indeed correct. Paul Cook was sacked on the 6th December and John McGreal was in temporary charge for our game, their draw against Wigan and defeat in the Cup to Barrow before McKenna took over on the 16th December.

  • Most shots faced in the Premier league this season:

    1. Sheffield Utd.
    2. Luton.
    3. Man Utd.
  • Portugal and Argentina have never played each other in a competitive fixture.
  • Portugal and Argentina have never played each other in a competitive fixture.
This one is utterly insane considering, well, their uh star players
  • None of Sunderland's strikers have scored a goal yet this season.
  • Man City attempted just two shots against Villa - the fewest ever in a league game in Guardiola's time at Barcelona, Bayern and City (a run of 535 games).

Make that 19 PL games on the trot when Brighton have both scored and conceded. They are a licence to print money in the "both teams to score" market at the moment and have been for quite some time. The Law Of Sod, however, says that the minute you lump on Saturday against Burnley, a team that has failed to score on seven occasions this season, might be the one to stop that run.

There's a team in League 1 that fits that description

There have been five matches when either that team or the opposition have failed to score in the League
  • Santos in Brazil have been relegated from the top tier for the first time in their 111-year history

  • Botafogo blew what is thought to be the biggest ever lead in a title race anywhere in history. At one point this season they were 14 points clear at the top in Brazil.

They then proceeded to win just 2 of their last 17 games, including 0 of the last 11.........and ended up 5th.

Well that run continues - 20 on the trot where both sides have scored. Next match is away to Arsenal which was the scene of the last time this didn't happen. Brighton have also been on an a run of 32 games where they have scored at least one goal - the last occasion that they failed to do so was at home to Fulham on the 18th February when they lost 1-0.
  • Red Star Belgrade have set an all-time record for the longest unbeaten home run, breaking the record set by Real Madrid in the 1950/60s.

Their win today means they've now gone 122 games unbeaten stretching back to April 2017.

    110 wins and 12 draws.
  • It's no surprise whatsoever that Harry Kane, with 18 goals, is top scorer in the Bundesliga. He has found the net, on average, every 63 minutes or at a rate of 1.42 goals per match. However, he isn't the best in the Bundesliga for those latter two stats -  Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart has scored 16 goals at an average per goal of 49 minutes or 1.83 goals per match.

How boring going along every week and being practically assured of a win. Much more fun to have the high jeopardy levels of Charlton. That's what I tell myself anyway.

    Great fact though.
They've dropped off a bit this season (2 defeats in 17) but quite incredibly in the previous 3 seasons they went unbeaten twice and in the other they lost only once.

They got a total of 305 points in 3 seasons!

And people think the Bundesliga is a one horse race!
  • Sheffield Wednesday have played 20 Championship matches this season and their top scorer is Michael Smith who stands alone with the "massive" total of three goals.
  • In the League since March 2018, Portsmouth have been in front at half time on 90 occasions. Of those games, they have won 74, drawn 16 and lost none.
  • Leicester and Ipswich have made the best ever two starts to a Championship season.
