It really is baffling, you can show these people the devastation to their local areas that Brexit will bring but it will be ignored for whatever reason. We live in an age where data and evidence is abundant but ever more so people are choosing not to believe it. What's that thing about stupidity and doing the same thing over and over?
To some people lying to is more important. 17.4 Million people voted in 2016 to leave the EU....and then were denied their right. That makes people angry & not respected. Especially if they are told they didnt know what they were voting for.... .as if the people telling them that did & are superior.
Also lots of people in Leave areas have seen "immigrants" settle in their towns, taking their jobs & reducing wages. This influx of people also stretches infrastructure & local services. Not all the travails of the NHS is down to austerity.
Not a single word of that second paragraph is true
The first paragraph is though
They certainly were lied to by the leave campaign, but then cranks (and I mean this in the nicest way possible) think you won something
The only thing I think I won was a referendum. There were 2 sides, leave or remain. Leave got more votes so "won". What exactly was "won" will be debated for evermore. But 34 million people voted & 1 side had to come out on top. That outcome should then had been respected. If it couldn't be delivered (for whatever reason) then that is a different story.
And if anyone didn't know what was being voted for, it was David Cameron. Should never had organised a referendum that couldn't be delivered. I was simply asked to vote. I did.....and the result should be respected.
If the exit poll is anywhere correct, I hope Labour don’t delude themselves this would be solely down to Brexit. In my opinion the British people tend to be conservative with a small “c”. I personally I don’t think they are electable until they get rid of Corbyn and McDonnell.
And Andrew Neil says he has just seen a labour briefing paper which says they should put the result down to one issue...,,Brexit.

Clearly the first 13 words are.
Immigrants as a percentage of the population are actually far fewer outside of the big cities so the first 13 words are nonsense too.
BTW, how do you stop the SNP now from getting another referendum? Scotland is so far away from England and Wales now, they've overwhelmingly voted remain twice now if this is an EU related election. Their mandate is stronger then ever
Because Boris said he won’t grant another referendum and, with a majority of this size, he won’t have to do anything he doesn’t want to.
Queue the next constitutional crisis.
The Tories will then get a shoeing in the Scottish Parliament elections next year, you then can't really say no if the SNP win a Scottish election with a majority (and they'll get close to 50% of the vote as well)
i think the results up in Holyrood next year could really leave it impossible not to have a second referendum
How can Boris be forced into it if he has an enormous majority? There needs to be a transfer of power from Westminster to Holyrood which requires executive approval or a vote in Westminster - Boris can stop either giving said approval very easily.
You end up with a Catalonia situation on your own doorstep, wouldn't be surprised if the SNP then called a non binding referendum, win that, and even more hell breaks loose
Unfortunately this is essentially the 4th time brexit has won an election. Cameron got elected twice on the promise of a referendum we had the brexit vote and now this basically confirming it. The people want it.
Wow. Exit poll suggest a massive Tory majority of 86.
Ha ha ha ha
Glad you find it funny. You're alright Jack.
It’s not funny as in funny, but you’ve got to admit it’s bizarre. I reckon about 90-95% of the noise on Facebook, Twitter and forums such as this is ‘anti Tory’, manipulating the backdrop with exaggerated guilting and shaming imo.
Yet every time it comes to people casting a vote, it turns out most people actually vote Tory. It’s bizarre.
Labour is a disaster. There are two labours, the London one with a mix of largely comfortable champagne socialists / remainers and ethnic minorities, and then there is Labour outside of London. Traditional Labour, and that lot just don’t recognise or relate with Corbyn. This was on the wall 12 months ago. How an opposition who can’t make any inroads at all when the ruling party is in such disarray and doesn’t make any change only have themselves to blame.
The country desperately needs a strong opposition yet at best that looks years off.
Only real sad sad thing imo is the Scottish backing for the SNP, which given their poor actual performance is giving a big Scottish backing for independence (sadly for us Supporters of the union).
Can hardly blame the Scots and the SNP at this point. Have been treated like rubbish the last decade or so.
Will be interesting to see Sturgeon V Johnson off the back of this.
The Scottish have done far better than the English regions, getting far more funding per head

Percentages are irrelevant. People live in these towns and see the demographic change significantly with their own eyes. In some towns they no longer recognise the place as the same as where they grew up. There are no-go areas for white British people in British cities (that’s not to suggest it doesn’t occur the other way of course)
I’m not debating whether it should matter or not, but to deny these are not real issues and considerations for people in these places is the absolute reason why Brexit got voted for and why Labour are being potentially destroyed in their heartlands.

Rothko, you might not like hearing it but it’s foolish to deny these are real issues that have not been managed in the eyes of a lot of voters and it results in these outpourings.

Re-count at Blythe Valley which would be a 10% swing to the Tories.
