Holy shit. I’m more angry than happy because of that absolute prick Stroud. Did his best for Brizzle with an exorbitant amount of injury time, suddenly found his yellow card for us having let them kick seven shades out if Morgan and Gallagher (likely contributing to his injury), and gives them a free kick right at the end that nearly cost us when it was a perfectly good tackle by Deji. Absolute ****.
Fantastic effort from the boys though. Thought we’d blown it after Gallagher went off (still think Bowyer got that sub wrong) but they dug deep deep deep and pulled it back. Magnificent contribution from Bonne, match wining in fact, after a few weeks of, let’s been honest, being poor. Hopefully he kicks on again because to have him and Taylor firing would be massive for us.
Goodness knows how we’re going to get through this run of close together fixtures with still more injury concerns but that is a massive shot in the arm for everyone’s confidence that can only help the boys to giving it their all.
It wasn’t a perfect performance, but credit where it’s due - Morgan and Doughty were excellent. Bonne with two outstanding finishes. Great holding up from Taylor. Pratley never stopped. Gallagher was not his best, but still decent. Matthews was effective. Defence not brilliant, but did pretty well overall. Phillips decent as usual. Nobody was a passenger. Finally, Purrington. I thought he did well - some were slagging him off after their second goal, but it was ridiculously unlucky. (It seems some people can’t wait to tear into certain players, and Purrington and Sarr get far more than their fair share of pelters). He didn’t hide and I thought he stood up to be counted after last week’s shocker and defended well overall. Whatever Bowyer/Jacko did with him this week, they got the right reaction from him. He didn’t sulk and he looked much better today. This is a player who could use a bit of support from all of us.
As an aside. I know it’s been difficult this last couple of months, but it was disappointing to see so many people had already written this game off by page 7 of the match thread and had apparently also resigned themselves to relegation. Grow some stones, people.
My Missus said I kept getting nearer the TV as those minutes ticked by. I was swearing at that pratt of a ref who in all honesty looked like he wanted them to equalise.
Couldn't see us coming back from 2-1 and with Gallegher off but this team on their day can grind out a result. Special mention for Alfie and Darren Pratley who I thought was a amazing.
Today we saw why Lyle must stay but that is in the lap of the God's.
God that was tense at the end, the heart was pounding. Absolute class from Bonne, two quality finishes. Really pleased for him because since Taylor has been involved again he's looked a little low on confidence.
Brilliant finally got the points and we made it through the endless added on time without conceding - could barely watch at end! 2 great finishes from Bonne and gutsy performances all round despite more injuries (Taylor looked knackered in 2nd half). Morgan and Doughty very impressive! Just how good would we be with a full squad and options on the bench. We finished the game with 8 defenders and a defensive mid who began the match in defence - crazy.
Everyone put a shift in on that pitch, they started to look shattered near the end(who can blame them) but to keep getting blocks in at the right times was immense...how many was we playing at the back when Sols came on...& Pearce had us sitting too deep in my opinion, but as said above, everyone worked for us,Bowyer & the new owners...(🤞🏻)
Get in There, enjoy rest of Chrimbo time/hols boys & gals...🍷
Fantastic day, great to be back at the Valley, at 2-1 to them we were struggling but then they suddenly dropped deep amd invited us on, we woke up, equalised and you could taste a victory, brilliant stuff, cant wait for the Derby/Swansea double header next week now!

The players you have named all deserve at least an 8 on the players marks thread.
Stroud is a joke.

COYR.
But, if he’d really been that against us, he would’ve given them a penalty for the shot that deflected off a possible arm.
Bonne brilliant, Doughty electric, and Matthews and Lockyer were great.
Great win, deserved it
Brilliant by Bonne.
