None of my business I suppose, but any idea if something happened to Andre Green this week? Seemed a bit emotional after he scored and the players all huddled round him. Looked like Bowyer came and had a longish chat with him at full time and then pointed something out to him in the stands.
I heard his grandad passed away this week.
Doesn’t seem appropriate to “like” this, so thanks.
Sad news for him. Great to see the way the team rallies around at a time like that.
Thought Green was excellent today, so credit to him for using it to help up his game.
Lyle was speaking to Andre at the final whistle too as the players were clapping the home crowd, then did the celebratory tunnel jump with him. Good to see Andre settling in as quick as he has and sorry for his bad news.
As unconvincing a win as you can get. 2-0 flattered us at h/t and other than the goals not another effort on target. Thank Gawd for Dills and the woodwork. A much needed three points though so no real complaints.
I actually thought 2-0 at HT flattered them..............
Pleased with the result but not the performance. Midfield is simply not good enough and we were left defending far too deep for most of the second half.
Barnsley deserved at least a draw and looked a different side in the second half.
Doughty needs to look up and learn to pass - amazing pace but fails to deliver the final pass.
Should’ve been out of sight at HT, then we just froze 2nd half...very strange subs, thought McGeedy should’ve come on and we go at them rather than go all defensive and sit back.
I tend to agree that was not good enough but 3 players starting that are coming back to fitness and 1 that come on. Said at HT that Barnsley couldn’t get any worse and they improved after the break.
Doughty needs to stop trying to cut in when he’s in defensive areas. Play it down the line if you’re in doubt, nobody will have a go at you for doing that. But losing the ball in those areas is not allowed.
Thought Sarr, Lockyer and Pearce all did okay.
Agree about Green, thought he was excellent. A couple of times I was ready to have a go at him for not getting infront on his marker when the ball was being played in the channel, but last minute he was nipping in and winning a foul, a throw or possesion.
A great result but a game of 3 thirds. For 60 minutes we totally dominated. the final 15 we were under the cosh. I could see them equalising. They were flooding through the centre of midfield and we started playing far too deep. We missed Taylor and Williams when they came off. There was no pressure on them at the back so they just brought it forward.
You can see why LB has brought players in for the midfield. That's where the game is won and lost in my opinion.
Like I said, a great result and 3 points which were important as Wigan beat Leeds.
Cullen didn't give the ball away for the goal but he completely bottled/missed a tackle that would have stopped the attack, taking himself completely out of the game. It was a poor bit of play
fantastic as usual. The defence needs addressing. Whether it’s the personnel or the switching off as a group I I am not sure. Barnsley ripped us apart for about 15 to 20 minutes which followed the new substitutions and one can’t help thinking that there was a connection.Out of all the young academy players Doughty has proved himself to be a person with huge potential And I can understand why he started today and should start every game. Phillips has also become an essential part of the Charlton team And saved two points today. So pleased about the three points today and next weeks game against Stoke Is as important as today’s game
Everyone saying how poor the substitutions were and how they changed the game, but that was all part of Bowyer's plan. Step 1: Show the new owner how good we are, by gaining a commanding lead. Step 2: Now show him how we look without our 2 key players on the pitch. This prompts the chairman into getting out the chequebook, ready for the summer team building bonanza.
Bow's, you crafty bastard ............................
Let's enjoy this season But you may have seen the scary future if no Taylor, Williams and Cullen.
Why is that the first thought in your head when you come and post here?
As someone who yells the team on from start to finish and never gives any abuse to any player wearing a red shirt, my first thought was we have X factor players and how much we need then on the pitch. I understand Lyle and Jonny coming off but that was torture in the last 25 minutes. I kick every ball so I'm shattered. Has been a long week.
The affect Taylor and Williams going off clearly showed why we have done so badly over the past few months. Without them, they were all over us and we wouldn't have won had they still be injured.
Need to keep them fit.
Disappointed not to see a McGeady cameo and thought Field would have been a better replacement for Williams if we wanted to go more defensive.
Shout out again to that man Darren Pratley - he ran his socks off, he was all over the pitch and he pinged some excellent passes at times and all whilst pushing 40.
Cullen didn't give the ball away for the goal but he completely bottled/missed a tackle that would have stopped the attack, taking himself completely out of the game. It was a poor bit of play
It's Cullen's 2nd game back from a torn ligaments injury after missing 2 months.
If you've ever played the game at any level, you'd know that until you're truly confident that your injury is 100% healed, there is still a little anxiety that it will hold up in a hard challenge.
IMO a little hesitation caused Cullen to come 2nd in that tackle. To say he bottled it is harsh. That's not the nature of his game.

Thanks for explaining your thought process.
As much as I love the player you mention, and they will be hard to replace if/when they go, there's also plenty of players out there who are as good, or if not better than them.
Aslong as we have the right management team I wouldn't be to worried about what the future holds.
That attempted tackle by Sarr in the second half was eye-watering. Easily a leg-breaker and completely unnecessary - luckily the player moved out the way

Green my MOTM. We can only get better.
a wins a win, but we got a bit lucky there
Pratley MOM, the fella is unreal
It was great !
Thats all that matters

Massive 3 points and we will get better.
JFC changes the game. And not in a positive way.
Thought Green was immense. He clocked up a good few miles this afternoon.
Thought Doughty struggled a bit to get to grips with their right winger.
Praise for Matthews Pratley and Pearce.
And Dillon for THAT save. An absolute worldy. He's getting better and better.
I kick every ball so I'm shattered. Has been a long week.
Except the one stat that actually matters; goals scored.
Barnsley should have been down to ten men as they kicked our players, usually Williams, in the first half. Great save by Philips but we were on top.
We lost all our shape when Williams went off. Then Taylor being protected blunted our attack and we were under the cosh.
I like Hemed, he did some good stuff but he's no Taylor.
Don't think Cullen or JFC had good games but Pratley did. Did you see that volleyed cross field pass?
Green was my man of the match.
Not the smooth machine we were earlier in the season but much better and took the three points which is what matters.

Amazing what a win does to the fickle fans

We played really well for 60 minutes then seemed to fall apart once Williams and Taylor went off.
Some great saves and a bit of luck saw us hold onto the spoils.
Once we get everybody back fit am sure we have enough to survive.
