Just head and shoulders above everything else on the pitch. His game season by season gets better and more influencing.

Confidence clearly back as the wind ups are back as well.

I’m resigning myself In thinking that it’s increasingly unlikely we’ll be able to keep him here next season.

  • Agreed. Deserves a crack at the big time, with better players and against better opposition. He did a lot of tracking back and defensive work today which is also great to see but he shouldn't really have to and it must irk him.
  • Good shout. Was thinking of starting a thread saying the same. Outstanding performance. The difference between staying up and going down. Well played sir
  • Superb today and worked his socks off. Some moments of real quality.

What might of been had he not got injured

We will really struggle to keep hold of him. Just hope he doesn’t do an Aribo and join Rangers. He is invaluable to us between now and the end of the season. I’d seriously consider leaving him as captain as well.
  • And I had a decent bet on him being leagues top scorer
  • Going to cost us an absolute fortune to replace him this summer

  • Will definitely be tough to keep him. There is, however, a chance this is going to be the best season of his career and, for once, we’ve got the best years out of a striker. I suspect he’s going to be like Yann though and has a few good years in him yet.

Relative to the level at which plays, one of the top 5 strikers in my time watching Charlton.

We look worse defensively when he comes off too. I also love that he's the archetypal player the opposition love to hate, I can't remember us having someone like that.

It's such a shame we couldn't build a decent team around him. If we had done we would have had a shot at the premier league

Opposing fans all used to hate Yann.

That is true, although I think Lyle takes it to another level.

Don't forget faked an injury and the club covered it up.
So he could live in January 2020.

I am fully prepared for him to go but I'm going to be absolutely gutted. Said it before I'm not a fan of some his antics online but on the pitch I can't remember many players I've admired as much, he has it all and he must feel hard done by knowing some of the rubbish in the prem and high end championship that are on more wedge than him. Obviously I hope he stays with us but I will wish him well if he does go. I couldn't even count on one hand how many bad games he's had for us. Invaluable

His work ethic is top drawer and to that with his very good ability and it makes him invaluable to us. Must be great for the young lads to be around him, a great influence.

Top shithousery again today with the celebration for the first, you do wonder if a player or fan is gonna lamp him one day. He's the epitome of the sort of player you want playing for you and one you'd absolutely hate is he played against you. Let's hope we have a few more years of enjoying his antics.
  • I still think some things might make him stay. Big fish in a small pond n all that.

    Highest paid player
    Captain
Ownership of the clubs social media outlet should do it,

    No it won't Chris ?

We will try to get a cheaper option and play him alongside Bonne.

We need to make Lyle Taylor the highest paid player by a mile.

    Not over confident.

I wake up on a Saturday morning and look forward to seeing Lyle play. He is a star.

He is 29 and is not set up for life. Keeps playing like he is then at 30 he goes for a free and a 2 million signing on fee and  a 20 grand a week contract for three years then he is set up for life. Who can blame him not me?

I think we need to accept that relegation or not Lyle's probably too good for us now. At his age he should be looking to have a crack at the Premier League and at the very least I think teams looking at a serious promotion push will be in for him in the summer. We need him to keep up this form if we're going to survive, but the more he plays like this the further out of our reach he probably goes. He's got 11 goals in 19 games though, that's an insane return for any striker, let alone one in his first Championship season. The only way we'll keep him is if we completely tear up the squad in the summer, show some serious intent with money and convince him that we're making a real push for promotion. If that happens then great, but I think most likely we'll be seeing him go somewhere else and we won't be able to begrudge him that at all. If only Roland had stuck another year on his deal

Great performance, I think we'd have lost that game without him.
  • Did he wave to the crowd at the end of the match?
  • As well as his clear MOTM performance, I gotta say I really enjoyed him as captain as well winding the opposition up and leading by example. If there was any way to keep him next year, I think that role would really suit him
