Curbs in with JJ as No. 2
No JJ is part of the problem.

Throughout the past year I don’t think that I have had once heard JJ speak up and voice a comment about the problems.

If it was Curbs as a temporary manager I would prefer Steve Brown to be number 2.
Listening to him when he commentates he speaks so much sense.
Many people can talk a big game, there is a reason Brown hasn't taken up management.

might be an unpopular opinion - but wouldnt want to have curbs anywhere near the manager role - he can only cock up his legacy.

Jacko would be my number 1 choice.
Definitely “no” to Curbs, Jacko would be a very uninspiring choice to be honest.

Wilder won’t take the job on as he’s apparently too scared of coming to The Valley 😉

    Good God, no.
I think now's the time for someone 'non-Charlton' to come in.
strongly disagree. Our most successful spells in the last 40 years have been when people who've played for the club come in and manage.

I still don’t understand this point of view. How often do we usually hear from the no.2?
It’s a very short list of assistant managers/coaches that have publicly said something that have undermined the manager at any club. Got a vague memory that Mike Flanagan leaving his coaching role at Charlton was linked to something like that which Lennie sacked him for.

I don't know about this season, but I do, and many do, know that JJ has been a popular person in the dressing room. The behaviours we have witnessed this season are unlike him so reasonable to say they belong solely to Bowyer. He has ambitions to be a manager and as long as the players are likely to get behind him, why not give him the same sort of free hit that Bowyer had?

There are enough experienced players in the dressing room to help him and maybe he can call on them or one or two of them, as his assistants until the end of the season as a temporary measure. He also has Curbs attending every home game to advise. I'd like to see some unity in the dressing room and we might just see the team play to its potential.

Love Steve Brown and his commentaries.

But he talks a load of bollocks sometimes as well as sense!

Says Brum on his twitter ...

Has to be Euell in as caretaker above any other option for me, good coach and not one of the voices the first team have heard non stop all season like Jacko,

Jim white saying he has had it confirmed. Bowyer leaving CAFC for Brum.
Can't be true then if he has confirmed it

How do you know he's part of the problem?

Who was Wilder's no 2 at Sheff U? When did he last "Speak up and voice a comment about the problems"?

Who's Hodgson's no 2 at Palace? When did he last "Speak up and voice a comment about the problems"?

Who's Klopp's no 2 at Liverpool? When did he last "Speak up and voice a comment about the problems"?

Who's Steve Bruce's no 2 at Newcastle? When did he last "Speak up and voice a comment about the problems"?

Etc, etc, etc. It's not the assistant manager's job to speak to the press, unless the manager is unable to speak to them for whatever reason. Weird that you think he should be doing something that isn't in his job description.

You've got absolutely no basis for forming any kind of opinion about his performance.

Thanks for the memories Lee, won't ever forget Wembley. I still think very highly of him (plus he's saved TS having to shell out to sack him !) as I've previously stated, was a great bloke the couple of times I've met him and made time and effort to engage with my kids.

TS needs to think hard over the next appointment, no immediate need to rush into it. Whoever takes over now gets a 'free hit' for the rest of the season, plus then a full pre-season backed by the owner.

Ready to welcome fans (and TS) back to the Valley at the start of next season

Make no mistake, we will be a very attractive proposition for plenty of managers that's for sure.

Please appoint Harris, please appoint Harris, please appoint Harris, please appoint Harris.

Not because I think he'd be a bad appointment, as I reckon he'd get you back on track, but the clusterfuck of emotional rage would a great read ;)
Kevin Muscat would be an even livelier read, believe me....

Sad day, I was hopeful with some of players returning and the investment in January that things would have picked up better than they did.  Unfortunately that didnt seem to happen so ultimately both parties shake hands and move on

Don't think that a newly sacked manager will have any credibility with our players .. Ben Watson as caretaker anyone ? (me neither)

Coaching capacity for Brown. Less pressure and more freedom in a coaching role & I think he would excel in that!

Are people seriously saying Steve Brown on the back of talking well on VP. He is a ex pro I would expect him to be able to speak well on a game but being a manager is a bit different. As he knows from being sacked at non league Ebbsfleet

Maybe Sandgaard or Roddy could do a lot worse than have a chat with our senior pros in terms of what to do for the remainder of the season.

Gutted ! We owe that man alot ! He stuck with us in our darkest hours and had we given him time i still think he could have turned it around
but nowdays with huge pressure on instant success and fanbases full of toxic fans like ours that cant wait to be negative no manager is ever given time

all the best to the man and thanks for memorys that will last forever
You realise he resigned and has not been sacked yeah? Not exactly sticking with us is he?
    Are you having a laugh
everything he put up with over the last few years and still brought success then the esi mess and nearly getting dragged under by the scum of elliott farnell and co

he even made sure he was paid last / late before all club employees and stood with us when he could and maybe should have said no thats it iv had enough

im sure hes had feedback or got wind from staff close to him / sandgaard or players about the online toxic talk of fans and feels a fresh start at a club hes loved and will be appreciated is very appealing right now
I don’t think today, the day that he apparently quits to join another team, is the day to make a big thing about Bowyer’s loyalty and sticking with us through thick and thin!
LOL you have a very short memory! im making a big thing cause it was a big thing at the time and still very important ! and had it not been for him and a few of the other lot around the club helping out you and i wouldnt even have a team to support and worry about right now

hes tried his best and done more than most would have and i appreciate it and wish him all the best and success in the future
Oh come on, there are other people very worthy of the “if it wasn’t for him/her...” title - Bowyer isn’t one of them. Bowyer wasn’t exactly the one who booted Southall out of the Valley 12 months ago, rather he was happy to work for the cavalcade of weirdos that have “owned” our club in recent times and now we’ve got a decent owner he’s walked out on him within six months.

Bowyer booting Southall out ....? Most people understand that a manager can't boot out his CEO shareholder director.
The employment world doesn't work like that, does it?

Someone also posted earlier that Jackson should have spoken up and criticised Bowyer.
Jacko is Assistant to the manager. To publicly criticise and show disloyalty to your boss is the fast route to your P45 and dismissal.

    That's the real world.
