Jacko's words are good - addresses the main concern where he says he has his own ideas so we should see the end of the nonsense formation and also addresses the crowd issue as singing 'we're fucking shit' is an insult to the players - deserved or not - that needs to be addressed and a bond needs to start forming between the players and fans - i think we do have enough in that squad and i don't think there has been any lack of effort - it just hasn't been managed correctly.
I am minded of what Curbs said about how you get out of bad form on Charlton TV. I think a bit of pragmatism is what is required on Saturday. Hopefully we can frustrate Sunderland and carry enough threat to nick a goal or two.
It felt like Adkins was changing things for the sake of it whilst nothing of substance actually changed. We have to try to win the midfield and ensure the defence is supported as a priority.
Change the goalkeeper, sort the defence out , the rest will come good 👍
Is Henderson still any good? When I saw him for us I thought he was alright but it's been a while. Personally, fuck it, give him a go cos I have no confidence in the goalie we have at the moment.
Actually, shit manager is probably a bit harsh. I just think he'd been out of the game too long & was out of his depth
I'm not having a go, but what does 'out of the game too long' actually mean? What has changed since he was last a manager?
***Tactics? - So NA didn't watch a single game of football between Managerial jobs?
***The shape of the football field/ball/goal posts? - No
***The laws of the game? - slightly, but if a moron like me can cope i'm sure NA can too
***Human physiology - No
***Training techniques/science - Yes, but i'd have thought as a trained physiotherapist NA would have been better placed than most to 'get up to speed' (if you will forgive the pun)
***Human psychology - Yes. Generational differences, but i'd have thought NA was very much a natural adherent of the 'athlete-centred' management style which is de rigour.
*** Was he out of his depth? - No, i'd argue he's been in deeper water (Championship etc...)
Obviously things didn't work out. But it's too simplistic to say he was out of the game too long.
NA's failure is more complex than that, and not all of the causes of his failure will exit the building with him.
Time and JJ may prove me wrong, but i don't think we can expect a wholly satisfying remainder of the season.
Need to try something different, but no time to work on it. That means back to basics and 442, at least for Saturday, because all the players will know how to play it.

Pick the best players we can while prioritising those with the character for the fight. Don't try and persist with two wingers, play a Curbs style lopsided 442 with the 3 centre mids. Gilbey edging out Lee for the wide centre mid role. Could consider swapping Lee for Washington too. Leko to provide the spark, I thought he was good on Tuesday and was amazed to read him getting slated by some on here.
I don’t think sticking a central midfielder in goal will work

I do have a slight concern that Jacko is just a little too close to the players. He’s a diamond bloke but as manager he can’t be friends with any of them. He doesn’t have to be a tyrant or bully but he has to be the boss and everyone needs to want to stay on his right side. Curbs was so successful because he was the boss. Players didn’t mess him around and if they did they knew about it. I believe it helped that Curbs was fastidious in his new signings being the right type. I’m not sure JJ is going to get that level of autonomy or perhaps hasn’t really got that hard streak in him. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
For the first few games JJ can get results by being their best friend. If it he holds the job abit longer he has to progress to being the boss- especially if the results are mixed .
Was driving when I heard the interview. Roddy is charge of Sport Science and yet we now have the owner telling us the players are not fit enough and we need to run more miles.
Getting rid of Adkins is only a part of what needs to happen. Having Roddy is this role has brought no positives to us, and when the areas he is charge of are highlighted by the owner as failing he still stays in the job.
Wasn't Roddy partly responsible for bringing sandgaard to the club ? Sandgaard won't get rid.
4 matches too late, has put us in a fight against the drop.
We could all see it wasn’t working for him - ages ago - TS should have taken action sooner.
OK looking forward, I want to start by looking back.
When Lennie left for Boro and AC/SG were put in charge, I couldn’t see how that could improve anything - but I was very wrong. Curbs and Gritty are proper Charlton, and success eventually evolved.
Jacko and Big Jace are no less proper, and they have my 100% support from here on.
Today tbh I'm sad about the state we are in. We all know that being a fan of this fucking club is never easy. But after the trials and tribulations of the crooks and parasites last year we somehow were given a new dawn of hope, all that seems a distant past to me and I think we have a long miserable season ahead. Just like everyone else I have no idea why we have dipped so much from last season and although tbh I have serious doubts I so hope we can turn this around quickly and I give JJ my 100% backing I just cant see how a change of manager is going to rectify whatever the issues are currently. What I will say is I agree with Curbs when he said on saturday booing our own team in tough times is not what's needed and I think we have probably due to all the past years of adversity become a club where alot of fans want to boo and organise demonstrations far too soon

The players need a kick up the arse. Hopefully they got this at training today and JJ is going to select players up for the fight.
At the very least Jacko is going to unite our club again. If he can bring a fraction of the unity Chris Powell created then I’m all for it.
I also don’t buy this nonsense that he can’t be any good because Adkins wasn’t. Jackson will have his own ideas and desired style of play. Bring it on. I think he’ll surprise a few people. This season is already a write off. Mid-table will be a success now.
I wish people would stop going on about how Adkins is decent man.
He kicked my dog when he was out walking and said "brilliant".
I saw the incident. Your dog went down far too easily, when he was barely touched. It's a contact sport, it's a man's game, the standard of referees is terrible etc
Plus your dog was well unfit, and nowhere near aggressive enough.
Looking at my list of managers above I am hoping that Jacko can emulate the achievement of the wonderful old school caretaker manager we previously had in Kevin Nugent. If jacko manages like him for the rest of this season we will end up with 79 points!
Just catching up with this news after a day at work away from the internet but wasn’t unexpected to read if I’m honest. Not jubilant at Adkins departure as I quite liked the fella but it was a change that had to be made so hopefully things can start to happen that will turn around our fortunes on the pitch. Is JJ the man to do it? Only time will tell but he has to seek advice from others or else his tenure as caretaker will be short. I don’t envy him the task, he’s got a mountain to climb because I don’t think Adkins was the ultimate problem. Sandgaard has to do some serious thinking about if he needs to do some restructuring behind the scenes. That he’s seemingly talking to those with a bit of history with the club can only be a positive. Just hoping he gets it right.

If Lee is fit, he starts. Absolutely end of.
Gilbey over Arter, however, is something I'd contemplate, although in a midfield two he's pretty lightweight.

yes, observant people will notice I've dropped Stockley; this is because he has been terrible this season.
At the very least, the Clare/Dobson/Gilbey CM combination hasn't been tried yet, and I reckon it stands the best chance out of all of our available CM combinations, so it's a no-brainer for me

You have to admit though, it would be different.
Says nothing at all about Dick Tydeman. Clueless.
And, while I can understand the important of looking right, each of the previous wearers made a fundamental (schoolboy?) error.
Therefore ... I give you the 'Jackson' ... as red as they come.
That should do the rick.
