We pressed and pressed and never allowed them to settle. Dobson, was outstanding in defence and attack, the pass for Gilbey to win the penalty was really good.
Downside for me was Stockley, who should have had 3 or 4. Against better sides we will not get as many chances as we did today. Our lack of a natural goalscorer may cost us.
Great win, good opportunity to build on the momentum of the last two matches with another game coming up quickly. Is it weird to feel slightly (only slightly!) disappointed that we (and specifically Stockley) didn’t score more?
I didn’t see the game, but wondering what the difference is? Is it just Donny being bad? Is it Jacko tactics? Is it Jacko/player motivation and effort? Either way, looks a great decision to remove NA and give Jacko the chance. Confidence hopefully high after these results and belief in Jacko and what he’s asking of them.
Fantastic performance, result and therefore, day! Please can we lose “Addicks to Victory” at the final whistle. It kills the atmosphere and is not needed.

Another day though, Stockley may convert all those chances and walk away with the matchball.
But generally speaking, strikers average scoring 1 goal in every 3 chances.
Another way to look at it, Stockley has scored in each of the last 3 consecutive games. That's consistency - and it breeds confidence.
We played well and effort levels were great, even at the very end Only criticism was that we were a little wasteful in front of goal, it could have easily been 6/7.
Doncaster were awful though, shoe in for relegation. Tuesday is the real marker for us.

If we win, I'd take Addicks to Victory. It wasn't blasted out full blast and the singing and chanting could be heard over it.
Doncaster were crap, but we were very good there... was that George Dobson or Josh Cullen out there? He seems to be the player in front of the back four that we have been crying out for
Had to leave after 15 minutes, Mrs GA still hasn’t recovered from covid and she had an anxiety attack, or it could be the excitement of going to Morecambe away, so I missed the win. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen us win in the flesh, as I missed the Crewe game.

I think even an Adkins side would have won today, but certainly not in the manner that we did under Jacko.
Well that is a nice way to go into Saturday evening. Looking forward to seeing us on Quest tonight, but for now, off to the match thread, having avoided anything football related since kick-off.
All sorts! He’s mentioned speaking to Jacko before the match multiple times in a way that inferred their quite close. Obviously he’d be close to Euelly, who he also mentioned, but I found the Jacko link interesting because they were never at Charlton together.
It’s nice to see him alongside Curbs too. A few months ago I heard him speak on the Clubhouse app about his days as a pro, particularly the difficulties he had adjusting to life at Charlton as a young man from East London. He was dealing with feeling out of place. Part of that was feeling that Curbs couldn’t/wouldn’t understand him, as a man. And that he felt Curbs was quite distant (which maybe he took personally), but that his perspective on the matter evolved as time went on and he understands it in a different way now. Anyway, I might have got some of that wrong, as it was some time ago, but I like Kev and always enjoy hearing about players experiences in the game. I follow him on Instagram, where he was doing Instagram live interviews with ex-players, which I found really interesting. He has two twin lads that just signed with Watford, so that’s nice!
I will admit that a month ago I didn't really think a change of manager would make much of a difference, as we had a squad full of average (at best) L1 players. However, Now I am sitting here eating a slice of tasty humble pie...............

In covered end lower I couldn't hear myself think. Completely killed the full time atmosphere. No song should be played for at least a minute when we win at home.

How on earth was Watson starting in front of him. Dobson passes forward well. Watson just passes to players boxed in who immediately pass it back to him.
I never thought the players weren't actually trying for NA - they just looked totally inept - but last week and today the players have upped their effort by 100% and you can see there are some class players in our team (particularly by League 1 standards). The difference, on the rare occasions Doncaster threatened, with loads of players in position to defend was as different as chalk and cheese under NA. And ironically, as with his fellow right back Matthews last week, Gunter had a really good game in the centre of defence.
Huge praise for young Dobson today. He was outstanding. Not only constantly winning the ball but his passing was first rate as well. How on earth could NA have frozen him out on this performance?
And obviously huge praise for JJ. These 2 games just prove that doing the simple things, like playing 2 up front that everybody could see was the way forward except NA and playing "steady-Eddie" (as Curbs calls him) Purrington instead of a kid who had played literally no recent football allied with some tactical nous can take a team a long way in this league.
Finally, I never realised what a good player Eliot Lee is. With Luton doing well, hopefully they won't want to recall him at Christmas and maybe we can even buy him. I hope we can.

Best wishes to your wife GA - anxiety is a tough thing - but one step at a time and I am sure you will both be able to enjoy watching Jackos Red n White army together.
What a difference to how we played under Adkins. Give the job to Jacko permanently now.
He is doing great. But giving a manager a job on the bounce is not good business. If it does not work out it will be three managers TS has to pay off out the door. Let’s see how the rest of the season plays out. If we are playing good ball after Christmas then we will truly know. It’s not like Newcastle are coming after him right now. We have time and we should use it.

Out of the bottom four and looking upwards now...be happy with a point on Tuesday, then others can get game time in the cup.

Shame we can't play Doncaster every week.
Well done lads. Great win.
Onwards and upwards.
